Grand Line – Paradise

Alabasta – Nanohana

Going back in time, after Luffy jumps out of the Merry, dragging Sabo along with him, everyone just let out a resigned sigh before disembarking as well, heading to gather supplies in the city.

Since they wouldn't be staying in the city for long, Usopp decides not to shrink the Merry and bring it with him.

And since they didn't want to leave the ship unprotected, Karoo offers to stay on the Merry as a lookout. But let's be honest, the duck just didn't want to have to walk around the city.

=Scene Break=

Some time later, everyone gathers in an area full of debris and ruins near the city's port, having already bought everything they needed.

Everyone was wearing clothes suitable for the extreme desert climate, including the girls, who were wearing normal clothes, unlike in canon, the reason for this is that Sanji didn't act like a total creepy weirdo.

And even so, the clothes, although they covered them almost completely, didn't hide at all their voluptuous bodies and stunning beauty.

"Any idea how long it'll take for Luffy and Sabo to come back?", Vivi asks a little worried.

"No idea", Nami shrugs, not worried at all about Luffy and Sabo, after all, if those two were in trouble, then they would be completely fucked up.

"It would be good if we set sail soon, I noticed a strong Marine presence in the city", Vivi comments, informing them about what she saw while walking through town.

"You're already acting like a pirate, even though you're the only one who could get away if the Marines found us!", sitting on the ground with his back leaning against the rubble of a wall, Zoro comments, amused by the way of thinking that Vivi just had.

"You are my friends and my last hope, I don't want you to have more trouble than you'll already have defeating Crocodile and his organization", Vivi says, a little embarrassed, earning a playful punch on the shoulder from Nami as soon as she finishes speaking.

"I found them, Sergeant-Major!", at that moment, everyone hears a voice shouting relatively close by, and looking, they see a marine holding a wanted poster in his hand, standing at the corner of a street ahead, gesturing to someone far away.

"Great! Hey, noodle-head, take the supplies to the Merry and stay there keeping watch, don't let anyone touch the ship! We'll handle things here until Luffy and Sabo get back", Zoro comments with a scornful smile before turning to Sanji and giving his orders.

"Go fuck yourself, moss head! I'm not going to follow your orders and leave everyone unprotected here...", Sanji curses him with a vein bulging on his forehead. Who does this guy think he is to keep giving him orders?

"Sanji, just do what he said, we'll manage here! None of us is weak, and you know that, so relax!", Nojiko reassures him, taking her shield and axe off her back.

"Urgh, fine! But I'm doing this because you asked, not because this asshole ordered me", Sanji yields reluctantly, making it clear he would only do it because Nojiko asked him.

"Simp!", Zoro exclaims with a shit-eating grin, mocking Sanji.

"Go suck a dick, vomit-hair, at least I have a girlfriend! In fact, since you love swords so much, how about I shove one up your gluttony ass? That way you can use the four-sword style!", Sanji curses him while leaving the place with a mountain of supplies on his back, ending up not seeing how furious Zoro got with the provocation.

As soon as Sanji disappears from sight, a squad of more than two hundred marines completely surrounds the area, pointing their weapons at them.

"Straw Hat Pirates, you are under arrest for the crime of piracy! Drop your weapons and surrender peacefully!", opening a path among the marines, Tashigi appears holding a Den Den Mushi megaphone, issuing the arrest order to the crew.

"Usopp, Chouchou, this fight is the crew's, provide cover for them only if necessary!", Zoro warns the stronger members of the crew, not caring at all about what Tashigi just said.

And then, without warning, Nojiko hurls her shield at the marines in front of her, making it bounce off the heads of four men before ricocheting off a building wall and returning to her hand. A second passes, and the four marines fall to the ground unconscious.

"Attack, they won't surrender without a fight!", Tashigi shouts before handing the Den Den Mushi megaphone to a marine at her side and then rushing full speed at Zoro.

Time pauses, everything freezes. Now, this is a fight where everything will happen at once, meaning it's going to be chaos, so let's go part by part to make it at least a little easier to understand, resuming the normal flow of time.

Nojiko, as soon as she hears Tashigi's battle cry, quickly dodges a hail of bullets with her Observation and then hurls her shield at a group of marines advancing toward her.

Her shield then travels at the speed of light, bouncing off five marines in a matter of seconds, advancing in a zigzag, without losing strength.

As soon as the shield bounces off the fifth body, Nojiko throws her axe at it, hitting it in the middle of its trajectory in the air, making it spin on a horizontal axis and thus blocking about five shots fired by marines aiming at her.

And then, not even a second later, using Soru, Nojiko quickly reaches and grabs her shield and axe mid-air, sliding forward while blocking shot after shot from a marine in her path.

The Marine in question, completely desperate upon seeing Nojiko sliding quickly toward him, empties the magazine of his rifle at her, but no matter where he aimed and fired, her shield was always there to protect her.

He shoots at her head, and she raises her shield, easily blocking the projectile. He takes advantage of her being temporarily blinded, shooting at her legs, and she throws her shield to the ground, once again easily deflecting the shot. He then fires at her torso, and the damn shield that was thrown to the ground bounces back up, effortlessly blocking another shot.

All this happens in seconds. This marine had an exceptional reaction time and aim, and even so, Nojiko quickly reaches him and smashes her shield hard into his body, throwing him far away.

And yes, she could have used Haki to protect herself, or simply have dodged, but her shield existed precisely for that purpose, and they were just regular bullets; there was no need to use Haki.

After getting past this Marine, Nojiko sees herself with a clear path to Tashigi. She then vanishes from where she was using Soru, leaving the Marines who were advancing toward her confused and frozen for a few seconds.

They are then snapped out of that state by Kaya, who appears in the middle of them, landing a powerful hook to the stomach of one of the Marines, lifting the man into the air and bending him in half, her fist with a simple knuckle duster completely sunk into the poor guy's belly.

Nojiko appears in front of Tashigi, striking the side of her body with a Spartan kick, sending her flying away like a runaway missile.

After doing that, Nojiko goes back to attacking the Marines in the middle of the chaos, coordinating her attacks with Kaya, Nami, and Vivi naturally, without needing to say anything to be understood.

=Scene Break=

While the girls easily sweep through the first wave of marines, Tashigi emerges from inside a building, through a hole in the wall that her own body made a few seconds earlier, dust and debris resting on her shoulders and head.

As soon as Tashigi steps out of the building, her instincts scream at her to move, and by doing so, she narrowly dodges a powerful punch from Chopper in his Heavy Point form.

"What the hell…", when Tashigi notices that the one attacking her is some kind of giant reindeer-bear man, she starts speaking in disbelief, only to be interrupted by Chopper, who continues his relentless attack on her, forcing her to defend herself with everything she has while retreating, never having been pressured like this before.

As the fight between the two progresses, Tashigi's strength and speed, under the insane pressure placed on her by Chopper, begin to be improved in the midst of fire, forged in combat, her instincts tempered under hard and heavy blows, each mistake, no matter how small, leaving her with more and more bruises, drawing her blood.

At a certain moment, Tashigi, already completely exhausted and battered, finds herself instinctively using Observation Haki, dodging by a big margin a punch from Chopper that would have ended the fight right then.

And, as if an extra dose of energy had been injected into her, Tashigi, from that point in the fight, begins to gain ground little by little, slowly mastering her Observation Haki, gradually moving from using it instinctively to using it more consciously.

When Tashigi starts managing to counterattack Chopper's blows, dealing him damage, a whistle of something crossing the sky at the speed of light sounds across the battlefield, but since no one pays attention to it, being too busy in the middle of the fight, it goes unnoticed, and just to be clear, it was Luffy.

=Scene Break=

Now, before returning to the fight between Chopper and Tashigi, let's talk a little about the chaos happening around their battle.

Minutes, it took just a few minutes for the girls of the crew, who were basically taking a walk in the park, to take out the more than two hundred Marines surrounding them, and they weren't even close to exerting themselves, Vivi included. Yes, she is the weakest among them, but her Devil Fruit more than made up for her lack of strength.

As soon as the two hundred marines fall, reinforcements arrive, another hundred Marines, this time acting more cautiously, thanks to intelligence information coming directly from the battlefield. They arrive, bringing heavier weapons: cannons.

And, upon seeing the Marines lining up cannons at the end of the street, aiming them at the crew, and then loading them with projectiles, Usopp draws his remaining Malorian pistol at the speed of light and pulls the trigger, firing an explosive projectile into a crate full of cannonballs next to the cannons themselves.

As soon as his projectile hits the cannonballs, a gigantic explosion occurs, starting a chain reaction that destroys the nearby cannons and sends the more distant cannons flying away, the heat of the explosion triggering those cannons, which then fire in all directions randomly, explosions popping up across the battlefield.

=Scene Break=

Meanwhile, Tashigi begins to turn the tide, and Chopper starts feeling increasingly pressured, cuts appearing on his body more and more frequently. Despite this, at no point does he even consider using one of his Rumble Balls; after all, he's sure this is a fight he can win with his natural forms, and using a Rumble Ball, which would give him only three minutes of extra power with a six-hour cooldown, would be nothing but a waste in this situation.

And then, after some time being forged under pressure, his strength growing by leaps and bounds, it happens for Chopper as well; he dodges by a big margin a dangerous attack from Tashigi, instinctively using his Observation Haki.

From that point, the fight gradually begins to tilt back in Chopper's favor again as he gets used to and masters the use of his Observation Haki; the bodies of both were covered in blood and completely battered.

=Scene Break=

And then, while Chopper and Tashigi are engaged in intense combat, in the final moments of their fight, the roar of an engine is heard approaching at high speed from where everyone was.

A few seconds later, Smoker appears at the beginning of the street, on his motorcycle, speeding full throttle toward the fight.

As soon as he gets close, he jumps off the motorcycle, transforming into smoke and charging at Chopper at full speed, only to be stopped midway by Zoro.

And while Smoker seemed to be exerting all his strength, trying to push Zoro back, the swordsman in question was simply standing there, and it didn't look like he was putting much effort into holding back the marine.

"Didn't he just say a little while ago that the fight was the crew's and that we shouldn't get involved?", Usopp asks Chouchou sarcastically, acting as if he were unsure about what he said.

"Woof woof, woof woof woof woof!" "He's a hypocrite, there's not much to be done!", Chouchou barks, shrugging.

"Isn't it? Exactly what I thought!", Usopp gestures in confirmation, while thinking, 'I didn't understand a word of what Chouchou said, but I don't want to make him sad by saying I didn't understand anything he said.'

What happens in the next few minutes is, to say the least, the greatest humiliation Smoker has ever felt in his life. Zoro, a complete novice, much younger than him, was barely moving from where he stood, and yet the marine was feeling an absurd amount of pressure, barely managing to defend himself against the casual attacks launched by the swordsman.

The absurd pressure of the following minutes makes Smoker awaken his Observation Haki and grow stronger very quickly, and even so, despite being armed with two types of basic Haki, the overwhelming pressure persists, even increasing in intensity as Zoro begins to get fed up with the fight and stops playing around.

And then it appears once again, that feeling of helplessness, the paralysis in the face of a power far beyond your own, the cold sweat, the fear, your body begging to run away. He was drenched in blood, his body riddled with injuries; you are weak, his body says. The instinctive urge to flee, it's okay to run from something like this, his subconscious says, just as it did in the desert a little while ago.

Faced with this instinctive fear, the world around him turns white, leaving only him and a colossal black wall blocking his way forward. Smoker feels disgusted with himself once again, his jaw clenches, and he closes his eyes, taking a deep breath.

Darkness embraces him, whispers surround him, trying to break him, trying to make him give up, but from the depths of his core, in the middle of the darkness, an ember shines briefly before fading. It may seem little, but that little was enough, for in the next instant, a torrent of flames explodes in the void of his soul, silencing the voices. Smoker then opens his eyes and charges toward the wall with a war cry, raw determination blazing in his gaze.

He then begins to punch it nonstop, destroying the wall piece by piece, opening a larger and larger hole, punch after punch, until finally, he breaks through it.

And at the moment that hole opens, the wall explodes into pieces that then dissolve as if they had never existed, leaving only Smoker in the white void.

=Scene Break=

Meanwhile, in the real world, before all that happened in Smoker's mind, let's go back to the final moments of the fight between Chopper and Tashigi.

In reality, there isn't much more to say about their fight. The battle was already leaning in Chopper's favor, Tashigi didn't have much left she could do, and since Smoker wasn't able to intervene, after a few minutes, the crew's doctor finishes the fight, winning his first great battle.

Tashigi, meanwhile, falls to the ground unconscious, alive, but her body was completely covered in blood and injuries.

A few seconds after the fight ends, the entire battlefield is engulfed by an oppressive aura, trying to bend people to its will.

=Scene Break=

Now, let's talk about the outcome of the chaos happening around before we return to Smoker and Zoro.

I'll be brief because there isn't much to say. After the second wave of marines was defeated by the girls, two more waves of a hundred marines each arrived as reinforcements, each one more prepared than the last, but honestly, it didn't make the slightest difference. The girls simply wiped the floor with them very easily; there was no challenge.

And then, when everyone realizes there won't be another wave of enemies, suddenly, an oppressive aura descends upon all who remain standing, affecting mainly Chopper and Vivi, who aren't used to the use of Conqueror's Haki. As for the rest of the crew, they just raise an eyebrow in surprise at the appearance of a Conqueror.

=Scene Break=

Back to Zoro and Smoker, the marine narrowly dodges a simple flying blade, taking advantage of the fact that the swordsman seemed to have stopped for some reason, to put some distance between them.

"Interesting, who would have thought you'd be a Conqueror?", Zoro comments, slightly surprised as he sees the Marine release an uncontrolled pulse of Conqueror's Haki.

"Come at me, pirate!", Smoker growls challengingly before charging at Zoro at full speed, transforming into a mass of black smoke halfway there.

"Very well, I guess I owe you at least the minimum amount of respect!", Zoro says before getting into position for the first time during the entire fight, adopting a serious look.

"Black Smoke: Jitte Slash!", as soon as he reaches in front of Zoro, Smoker returns to his human form and slashes with his Jitte wrapped in black smoke, looking like a black flame blade.

"Ittoryu Iai: ...", just as it seemed Smoker was about to hit him, Zoro vanishes from where he was, his voice echoing through the wind.

And then, appearing a few dozen meters behind Smoker, Zoro finishes "Shishi Sonson!!!"

And, as soon as the click of his sword being fully sheathed echoes through the now silent surroundings, a deep diagonal cut opens across Smoker's torso, running from his waist to his shoulder, a torrent of blood gushing from the new wound as he falls to the ground, painting his body red even more. It was his defeat; Zoro hadn't even broken a sweat.
