Chapter 400 - Chapter 400: Slaying Wang Zhi

The third day of the pirate alliance's attack on G-1.

The morning light was faint, and the sky was gradually brightening. At this moment, it was still one hour until dawn in the New World.

And this first Marine base established in the New World had completely changed its appearance.

On the surface, besides a half-destroyed Fortress of Justice, no other traces of buildings could be seen.

The small left half of the island had turned into a fiery red lake of magma. All the soil and rocks on it had been melted into flowing magma by the high temperature. It gave off a terrifying heat that distorted the air on the island, baking the few remaining Marine officers.

The right half of the island was covered by a super-low-temperature glacier, turning into a pure white ice field.

Within the frozen rock layers, soil, and building debris, hundreds of hideous-looking pirates could be vaguely seen.

These pirates, solidified within the thick ice layer, were either in the posture of swinging their swords, sitting on the ground with expressions of fear, or holding bazookas and venting their firepower.

Their actions and expressions were all different, as if they had been instantly submerged by the sudden arrival of an extremely cold ice layer, becoming part of this glacier.

And in the center of the island were huge stone pillars that coiled around like dragons.

Some of these stone pillars were broken, some were shattered, and some stood tall.

If one got closer, they would discover that within these giant stone pillars, there were countless pirates and Marines whose eyes were wide open in death, embedded within them, as if they had merged with the stone pillars.

The super-high-temperature air on the left and the super-low-temperature cold current on the right converged in the center of the island, creating a large area of misty steam. This caused a scene of clouds and fog swirling in the sky above, and from time to time, flowing electric sparks would appear.

On the open space at the foot of the only remaining half of the Fortress of Justice that was still standing tall, Momonga, Onigumo, Doberman, Gion, Fujitora, and other Marine Headquarters Vice Admirals were holding swords and forming a semi-circle, protecting the less than a thousand remaining Marine soldiers behind them.

Each of them had terrifying scars on their bodies.

Their uniforms were tattered and torn. The dried blood on them was cracked, looking like pieces of disgusting, blood-red bacteria carpets.

In their eyes, there was an undisguised sense of exhaustion.

Two days and three nights of non-stop fighting, during which they had not eaten a single grain of rice or had a single sip of water.

Even for them, who had a will as hard as iron and physical strength far beyond that of ordinary soldiers, their bodies had already reached their limits.

Momonga, whose face was covered in mud and bloodstains and whose body gave off a nauseating smell of blood, felt that his vision was blurry. The world he saw was filled with a faint, blood-red light.

"Pfft!"

Blood shot out from the palm of his left hand. Momonga's expression was sinister as he pulled out the sword tip that had pierced his palm.

The intense pain gave him a brief moment of clarity. He once again clenched the long sword in his hand and looked at the shattered central battlefield that had turned into a chaotic zone.

Over there, eleven figures were still fighting like madmen.

"Thump!"

A muffled sound came from behind, but Momonga, Onigumo, and the others were unmoved.

Gion's body trembled slightly. She bit her lip and turned around, only to see a cloud of dust rising from a spot on the ground. The body of a Marine Rear Admiral had fallen to the ground, and a large amount of blood was quickly spreading from under his body, staining the ground red.

A few military doctors, who were covered in sweat, rushed over, trying to rescue him.

But in Gion's eyes, a hint of unspeakable sorrow arose.

In her perception with Observation Haki, that Marine Rear Admiral was already dead.

"Hold on! Please hold on a little longer, everyone! Fleet Admiral Sengoku and the others are already on their way. Our reinforcements are about to arrive. As long as we hold on a little longer, the final victory…"

"Thump!"

Another muffled sound. A Marine Colonel who was leaning against the fortress wall slowly tilted his body and fell at the foot of the fortress. His hollow eyes looked up at the dim sky above G-1.

Beside him were Marine soldiers whose bodies were wrapped in cloaks and torn rags, soaked in blood.

A Brigadier General military doctor, who had lost his left arm and was covered in blood-soaked bandages, was moving through the wounded soldiers, using his only remaining hand to skillfully bandage their wounds.

If Rorschach were here, he would recognize that this military doctor was Daos.

He had followed Akainu to be stationed in the New World and had not returned to the headquarters since half a year ago.

His lost left arm had been severed by Wang Zhi, who used his teleportation ability to kill people indiscriminately in the crowd.

After treating a few more disabled Marine soldiers, Daos propped up his shaky body and stood up, only to see a large number of pirates rushing in from the left side of the ice field.

Daos took a deep breath, put down the medicine bottle and bandages in his hand, drew the long sword from his waist, and walked to Gion's side, where he stopped.

"Is this the how many waves already, Vice Admiral Gion?" Daos bit the cloth strip wrapped around his wrist, tying the long sword and his right hand together to prevent the sword from slipping out of his hand during the battle.

"I don't know. No matter how many waves there are, we will just kill all of them!"

Gion gritted her teeth, moving her legs that felt as heavy as lead. She rushed out with Momonga, Onigumo, and the others, charging at the surrounding pirates, leaving Fujitora and a few others to stay and guard their position.

Ever since the pirates from the four great pirate crews had joined forces on G-1 Island and fought them for two days and two nights, leaving behind over forty thousand bodies, the pirates had finally changed their strategy. They had withdrawn their main force of over a hundred thousand people from the island and divided them into small squads, which continuously came to harass and attack them, leaving them no time to rest.

On their side, the Marines had also paid a painful price, with ninety percent of their soldiers sacrificed. This had reduced their original force of about thirteen thousand to less than two thousand now.

And among these remaining less than two thousand soldiers, most of them were wounded, on the verge of death from excessive bleeding, or were so exhausted that they could no longer continue fighting.

Only a little over three hundred high-ranking Marine officers, led by Gion and Fujitora, were still able to fight.

And even they had now reached their physical limits and could collapse at any time due to extreme fatigue.

On the other hand, the pirates still retained a massive force of over a hundred thousand.

After retreating from the main battlefield on the island, the pirates could eat and replenish their energy on the sea outside.

But the Marines who were trapped on the island couldn't find any food at all.

As one side weakened and the other side grew stronger, the pressure Gion and the others were under was immense.

"Charge! If we can hold out against this wave, the reinforcements from the headquarters will arrive!"

Momonga held up his long sword, roaring in an extremely hoarse voice.

"The pirates probably anticipated this as well. So, this wave of attacks will definitely be more difficult."

Onigumo lit a cigar for himself and took a deep puff.

A part of the smoke he had inhaled drifted out from his chest.

His chest had been stabbed by the surrounding pirates in a previous battle, and his lungs had been punctured.

Hearing this, everyone looked up and carefully at the pirates rushing toward them. They saw Charlotte Daifuku, Charlotte Oven, Jack the Drought, and others leading over ten thousand people in a charge.

Not only that, but behind those ten thousand people, there were even more pirates, who had eaten and rested, continuously rushing onto the island from the ice.

Gion reached for her sword, and the Kompeito in her hand unleashed a huge, curved slash, aimed diagonally at Daifuku, who was charging at the very front.

"No matter how many of you come, you will still die! Kill them all!"

"Kill!!"

The officers all roared in response, forcing themselves to raise their spirits. Like an iron chain spanning a river, they intercepted the tidal wave of pirates charging toward them.

In just an instant, sparks and blood flew from the colliding swords.

On the central battlefield, Shiki and Kizaru were fighting in the sky, Garp and Charlotte Linlin were entangled in a fight, Akainu was still clashing with Kaido, and Aokiji and Rorschach had teamed up to fight Katakuri, King, and Wang Zhi.

In these two days and three nights of insane fighting, the opponents of these people were not fixed. Sometimes, a dangerous situation would even occur where several people would gang up on one person.

This was a battlefield, a battle of life and death, not a one-on-one duel.

Among the eleven people present, with the exception of Rorschach, who still lacked combat experience, the others were all seasoned veterans of countless battles.

As soon as they discovered that a comrade was being ganged up on, they would immediately go to rescue them.

By now, with the exception of the five monsters—Akainu, Kaido, Charlotte Linlin, Aokiji, and Kizaru—the stamina of the other six had clearly been greatly depleted. The attacks they launched no longer had the same power as they did at the beginning.

Even powerhouses like Garp and Shiki were starting to run out of energy.

And Rorschach was gritting his teeth and holding on.

He had never fought for such a long continuous period of time.

His physique was very strong, and his attack power was also great, but in turn, he also consumed a great deal of stamina.

In the past, after a battle that lasted for a few hours, he would be able to eat a medium-sized Sea King after the battle ended.

Now, Rorschach felt like he could eat ten, or even a hundred times that amount of food.

"How is it? Can you still hold on?"

Kuzan opened a thick ice wall to block Wang Zhi's teleportation sneak attack. He turned his head and looked at the panting Rorschach behind him.

The two were now fighting side by side, back to back. Not only did they defend against the combined attacks of Katakuri, King, and Wang Zhi, but they also occasionally interfered with Charlotte Linlin's battle over there.

"I'm fine. I'm just too hungry."

Listening to the rumbling sound of his stomach, Rorschach's eyes were a little red and bloodshot.

Because of the huge drop in his stamina, he had long ago canceled his Azure Qilin form and was fighting in his base form.

"Hold on a little longer. Fleet Admiral Sengoku and Teacher Zephyr are almost here."

Rorschach nodded. He stared at Wang Zhi, who had finished his attack and teleported a hundred meters away, with his bloodshot eyes. He gritted his teeth and asked:

"Uncle Kuzan, can you freeze that slippery bastard? That bastard's teleportation ability is too fast, and he's causing us too many casualties. Also, if we let him flash around like this, he'll also cause a lot of trouble for Grandpa Garp and Uncle Borsalino. The pressure on Vice Admiral Gion and the others is too great. We have to break this stalemate and go support them. So, we must severely injure or kill Wang Zhi."

"He's too fast. It's very difficult to freeze him. Unless, you can make him stop in front of me for a moment."

"For how long exactly?" Rorschach swung his halberd. A cluster of fragmented lightning slashes flew toward King, who was diving from the sky.

Kuzan pondered for a moment, then lowered his voice and said in a deep tone, "Two seconds. I need him to pause for two seconds."

"Okay! I'll do it!"

Kuzan did not ask Rorschach how he would do it.

After fighting for so long, the two of them had developed a very good rapport.

A roar came from behind him. Rorschach, whose eyes were filled with blood, had his body rapidly expand. In an instant, he grew to over eight meters tall. He stomped the ground beneath him, grabbed the Sky Dragon Halberd, and shot up into the air, charging toward King, who was circling in the sky.

A glint flashed in King's eyes. He was not surprised, but rather happy.

The sky was his territory.

Although Rorschach could also fly, he had to consume stamina to use his Devil Fruit ability.

King was different. Aside from his Pteranodon ability, he himself, as a Lunarian, had the ability to fly.

At this moment, seeing Rorschach fly into the sky, he immediately held his sword with both hands and slashed at the charging Rorschach.

"Fire Dragon King!"

A surging flame burst from the long sword in his hand, turning into a huge fire dragon that bit at Rorschach.

Lightning surged out from Rorschach's muscular body, bursting from the swung Sky Dragon Halberd. A giant lightning dragon also charged out, baring its fangs and claws at the pouncing fire dragon.

"Boom!"

The two giant dragons collided in the air, setting off a huge explosion. The intense impact made King, who was in the sky, fly backward. And Rorschach, who was below, had his tall body sway. His face suddenly turned red, and his muscular body suddenly shrank like a deflated balloon.

"His stamina is giving out!"

Seeing this, both King and Katakuri's eyes narrowed. They knew that Rorschach, who had been fighting for so long, was finally running out of stamina and couldn't even maintain his hybrid form.

King flapped his wings and accelerated his dive, with advanced Haki wrapped around his long sword, slashing at Rorschach's neck.

"Rorschach!"

Kuzan, who was standing on the ground, changed his expression. He stomped his foot and was about to rush up and save Rorschach.

But at this moment, the ground beneath his feet instantly softened, turning into a viscous mochi that stuck to his feet.

By the time Kuzan had frozen and shattered the mochi on his feet, Katakuri had already pounced from behind.

"What a great opportunity! Die!"

A glint flashed in King's eyes.

His speed was extremely fast, but someone was even faster than him.

"Swish!"

In an instant, a slender figure appeared out of thin air in front of Rorschach, stabbing a sword straight at his heart.

"What?"

Wang Zhi's sudden appearance seemed to have scared Rorschach.

He really wanted to dodge, but with his body's stamina completely depleted, he seemed to have reached his limit long ago.

Watching as the long sword in Wang Zhi's hand pierced his heart, Rorschach could only manage to move half a meter away.

"Pfft!"

With a crisp sound, a sword tip emerged from his back, bringing with it a spray of blood.

"Rorschach!"

The sudden change of events greatly surprised Garp, who was fighting a huge battle with Charlotte Linlin.

"Mamamama, well done, Wang Zhi. You have to kill that kid." Charlotte Linlin couldn't help but laugh joyfully when she saw this.

Garp was about to use Geppo to rush over, but he was firmly held back by Charlotte Linlin.

"Get lost, old man!"

"Mamamama, stay here and watch carefully, Garp!"

"Hmph, did he dodge?"

Looking at the long sword that had pierced between Rorschach's ribs, Wang Zhi snorted coldly. He gave his wrist a shake, intending to pull open Rorschach's chest horizontally and split his heart in two.

Wang Zhi also despised Rorschach, who had taken his halberd.

In addition, after failing to sneak attack Akainu and being punched instead, Wang Zhi had been holding a grudge.

Now that he could finally kill Rorschach, who was so important to Akainu, he finally felt a sense of release.

However, a warning sign suddenly appeared in his heart for no reason, causing Wang Zhi to decisively pull out his sword and retreat.

"You're really decisive, but it's too late!"

Rorschach's rapidly shrinking body expanded again. The muscles in his body squeezed together, firmly clamping onto the long sword in Wang Zhi's hand. At the same time, his eyes narrowed, and a concentrated blast of Haoshoku Haki heavily impacted Wang Zhi's head, which was so close to him.

Wang Zhi grunted and his mind went blank for a moment.

"Ice Storm!"

On the ground below, a whistling cold current suddenly shot up, engulfing Wang Zhi.

"Crack, crack, crack!"

The ice layer instantly spread, covering Wang Zhi's entire body.

Rorschach let out a roar. He gripped the Sky Dragon Halberd with both hands, wrapping all the remaining lightning power and a large amount of his deep-blue Haki around the wide blade. The muscles in his arms swelled, and with a horizontal slash, he struck the frozen Wang Zhi.

"Three hundred million volts! Lightning Slash!"

"Crack, crack, crack! Pfft!"

The ice shattered, and blood splattered. A look of disbelief appeared in the eyes of Wang Zhi, who had been instantly frozen.

"N-no… It's impossible. How could I die at the hands of a mere…"

A head with white hair flew up into the air.

"Damn it!"

King, who was a step too late, had crimson eyes. He slashed his sword at Rorschach's neck.

"Pfft!"
