Father Sheng had a thousand words to say but only heard a busy tone. All his words were stuck in his throat.
Qingxue saw Father Sheng staring blankly at the phone and quickly approached him, asking, "Dad, who was on the phone just now? Dad?"
Father Sheng snapped back to reality, "It was your mom."
"My mom?" Qingxue never thought she would find out about her mother's whereabouts in her lifetime. She thought her mother was no longer in this world, "She's still alive?"
"Yes." Father Sheng came back to his senses.
"She even took my sister back?"
"Yes," Father Sheng said, "She said your sister is doing well. I think she should contact us soon."
"Then... did she mention me?" Qingxue tightly gripped the hem of her clothes.
"What?" Father Sheng looked at Qingxue, and suddenly, he saw a hint of expectation in her eyes, along with emotions he couldn't quite understand or describe.
"She didn't mention me?" Qingxue lowered her eyes in disappointment.
