Slowly the other students approached them with varying expressions of pride and excitement. They all turn around and look towards the rising sun of a better tomorrow as Peter takes off his mask with a look of uncertainty on his face.
———
A faint stream of light filtered through the high-rise window of the Olympus living quarters, soft and golden, illuminating the sleek concrete floor and casting long, blurred shadows across the room. The sun hadn't fully risen, but Peter was already awake; showered and dressed. His outfit consisted of a black t-shirt, gray sweatpants, black socks, and indoor crocs. His black hoodie was being hung by the chair. His hair in that signature natural undercut slickback.
His laptop opened with articles on cutting-edge surgeries and 7 bentos full of food he retrieved in the mess hall and brought to his room. Within each bento there were some cold creamy dan dan noodles, otoro sashimi, some sriracha poke, and fried squid tentacles. Mary can be seen walking out of the bedroom in a t-shirt and phone in hand.
He handed her a cup of coffee he retrieved from the said mess hall and made the coffee the way Mary liked.
"Morning fuel."
"Bless you," she whispered and took a sip. Her face lit up, "You remembered how I like it."
"Of course I did."
She soon sat next to Peter on the table and started to scroll on her phone.
Peter paused reading the article and asked, "This whole internship. The training. It's too calm. Like we're waiting for something. Do you feel that?"
"I do," Mary said, "but don't jinx it, big boy~"
Peter's phone buzzed.
He looked at the screen. Mom.
"Give me a sec," he said.
Mary nodded.
Peter answered, pressing the phone to his ear, "Hey Mom, what's going on?"
There was a shaky breath on the other end causing Peter's eyebrows to furrow, "Hajin… I've been having contractions."
Peter sat up straighter. The air shifted.
"How far apart? Are you timing them?"
"Just started… about ten minutes between each, but they're getting stronger."
Mary was already watching him, sensing the shift in his posture. She didn't need to hear both sides to understand.
"Do you want me to come?" Peter asked.
"Yes. Bring someone with you if you can. I already cleared it with your grandfather. Just… don't take too long."
Peter closed his eyes, "I'll be there soon. I promise."
The call ended.
He looked at Mary, "My mom. She's going into labor."
Mary blinked, "Right now?"
He nodded, "It's early. I don't know how far it's progressed yet, but she wants me there."
She set her mug down, "Then let's go."
Peter paused, "Are you sure? I can go alone—"
"Peter." She stood, "I'm coming with you."
He gave her a grateful look, then sprinted back into the room to throw on a white t-shirt with some socks and white AF1s. Mary changed into loose athleisure and tied her hair up quickly.
They headed downstairs, where a sleek Olympus car was already waiting. Peter slipped into old habits and instinctively pulled out his wallet to tip the driver.
"Ah… wait," he muttered, realizing what he was doing, "Never mind. American reflex."
Mary giggled, "You're such a dork."
…
The car ride to Peter's childhood home was silent, save for the hum of the engine and the occasional soft exhale from Mary. Peter, who brought a backpack sat still, unusually tense. The sun was climbing into the sky, casting gold-tinted streaks across the cityscape as they passed. Mary glanced at him.
"You okay?" she asked softly, her hand sliding into his.
"I will be," he replied, squeezing her fingers, "Just worried."
"You'll be there for her. That's what matters."
The driver pulled up to the Sakaeda estate; an elegant, fortress-like structure of traditional Japanese architecture fused with modern design. It looked more like a museum or private shrine than a home. Mary stepped out and stared at the intricate wooden beams and stonework.
"This is where you lived before moving close to school?"
Peter nodded, "Yeah. Kevin and I. Same room for most of our lives, even moving here from the States."
He opened the front door and immediately called out, "Mom! We're here!"
Inside, the interior was serene and clean, with polished wood floors and soft lighting. The smell of incense lingered faintly in the air. Moments later, Hwa-Young Sakaeda appeared from the hallway, hand on her swollen belly, face twisted in discomfort. Her ankles were swollen, her movements slow.
Peter rushed to her side, "You shouldn't be walking. Come here."
Before she could protest, he scooped her into a bridal carry with practiced ease. She smiled faintly, "You were always strong for your age."
"Don't talk," he muttered, "Save your strength."
He brought her to the living room and gently placed her on the couch. Mary followed closely, eyes scanning the room. Peter crouched down, inspecting his mother's breathing, her pallor, her hands.
"Contractions are ten minutes apart?" he asked.
Hwa-Young nodded, "And getting closer."
Peter stood, "Mary, I need the obstetric ultrasound kit. It's a big machine in my Dad's office. Bring the stethoscope too."
Mary gave a quick nod and disappeared down the hall. Moments later she returned, carrying the gear. Peter set up the portable monitor and plugged it in. He handed Mary the transducer and gel.
"Welcome to on-the-spot nurse duty," he said.
"Yes, Doctor," she quipped with a smile as she applied gel to Hwa-Young's stomach.
Peter focused on the screen. The fetal heartbeat was strong, the baby's development near-complete. But the position…
"Breech," he muttered, "She's not flipped. That rules out natural birth."
Hwa-Young exhaled deeply, "Just my luck."
Peter stood, "We need to get you to Alchemax. C-section is the safest for OBGYNs to do."
Mary helped clean the gel off as Peter scooped his mother up again. The personal driver was still waiting out front. As they exited, Peter looked at him.
"We're heading to the hospital. Fast, but smooth. She's stable, but it's a breech labor."
"Understood, sir."
Peter sighed, "Please don't call me that."
The driver smiled faintly, "Of course."
…
Kevin and Vanessa were at a crime scene as they were surveying what had happened in the far regions of the Hosu district of Tokyo. So far; they have gathered evidence in regards to people who were in some kind of gang or group. According to witnesses and CCTV footage, the suspects displayed some kind of strength and speed of some sort. They shared that ability which was suspicious as there were no such thing as individuals who aren't related having the same exact Quirk or powers. For the dead bodies there were not only bullet holes with entry and exit wounds that were present, but some blunt force trauma on their bodies. The twist of this is that the victims of this crime were Pro-Heroes AND villains with all of them containing Quirks.
"Are you seeing this?" Kevin asked.
Vanessa nodded, "Killing villains is one thing, but both… oh my god…"
Kevin shook his head, his mind thinking what kind of group would do this and why? What is their agenda and what do they hope to accomplish?
…
Inside the car, Mary held Hwa-Young's hand while Peter monitored her vitals using a small tablet from his bag. Her pulse was elevated but steady. Her breathing was deep and controlled. Mary could see it: Peter had completely shifted. No longer the teenager she woke up beside this morning, this was the medic, the tactician, the protector.
When they arrived at the Alchemax Hospital Branch in Hosu, the staff was already waiting at the entrance, notified in advance by Masayoshi.
Peter stepped out first, still carrying his mother, "Where's the OB team?"
"Operating Room 3 has been cleared," one of the nurses said, "Dr. Nakamura is prepping."
Peter gave a short nod and carried his mother through the automatic doors, Mary at his side. Nurses moved around them like clockwork, taking vitals, readying IVs. Evan, Peter's father and the said Dr. Nakamura appeared in the hallway. The latter was tying her surgical scrubs.
"She's stable?" Nakamura asked
Peter nodded, "Vitals are good. Baby's breech. We didn't wait."
Evan gave him a proud look, "You did good, son. Dr. Nakamura has it from here."
Peter carefully placed his mother onto the rolling hospital bed. She squeezed his wrist once.
"Go save the world," she whispered.
Peter nodded, "Okay."
They wheeled her into the OR.
Peter turned to Mary, "Lets just stay nearby. Just in case."
…
They settled into the high-end waiting lounge. Mary pulled out her phone to text Kevin and Vanessa an update, but Peter's own phone buzzed first.
A message from Kevin: Vanessa's tagging out. Something's wrong. We need you. Suit up.
Peter stared at the screen. Whatever calm he had this morning was gone. The city was calling.
He stood. Mary looked up.
"You have to go."
Peter hesitated, "I don't want to leave her. Not now."
"She's in the best hands possible," Mary said, "You trust Dr. Nakamura, right?"
He nodded.
"Then go. I'll stay. I'll update you the moment anything happens."
Peter exhaled slowly. She was right. As always.
He turned, but paused when Mary called his name.
She tossed something across the room.
He caught it reflexively. His web-shooters.
"Can't be Spider-Man without these."
Peter smirked, "You're the best."
"I know. Now go."
Peter bolted to the elevator. The moment the doors closed, Peter reached into his bag and unzipped a hidden compartment where his folded suit was stored, neatly sealed in a matte black compression case. He unzipped it quickly and began changing with practiced speed, slipping on the form-fitting underlayer, then sliding into the white-and-black armor-like bodysuit piece by piece. Each segment sealed. Once the final piece locked into place around his chest, he slid the mask over his head and activated the HUD.
In seconds, he was gone… just a blur across the Tokyo skyline.
Back in the hospital lounge, Mary sat alone, her phone in hand. She looked toward the doors of the OR, her jaw set in quiet resolve.
She whispered, "Come back in one piece, Genie."
———
Midoriya and Gran Torino were a bullet train as they heard people talking about seeing smoke. THey turned to their right and saw an area where building fires are. But the train stopped all of a sudden and a Pro-hero destroyed the wall and entered the train. A hand grabbed his face and pressed it on the floor. When the smoke appeared, another Nomu monster stood at the hole.
"Nomu?!" Midoriya screamed. He now wished Peter or Kevin was present to fight it off effectively.
"Kid, sit down!" Gran Torino ordered.
The elderly Pro-hero jumped from wall to wall to advance to the Nomu and kick it, he soon kicked it again, but only this time he took it out of the train with him and into the city. Midoriya saw some policemen attending to the injured Pro-hero and soon ran out of the train. He used his Quirk, but this time allowed a small percentage to envelop his body as he kept leaping into the city. When Midoriya got onto street level, he saw people running away and this made Midoriya run the opposite direction. He was thinking about the new Nomu monster, but stopped when someone called for Iida's name.
He ran to the direction of the voice until a massive mine exploded where Nomus, Pro-heroes, and people who were dressed in tactical gear armed with firearms were all fighting each other. Midoriya went into cover as he heard gunshots. He was now in a panic as he now realized that guns were now involved in this battle.
…
Kevin was alone as he was investigating a current. He kept doing massive leaps as he was listening to the radios.
"There are a bunch of monsters, us Pro-heroes are getting—"
[GUNSHOTS]
"Wait, there are armed people with snipers, rifles, and other kinds of firearms! We need assistance now—"
[GUNSHOT CAUSED THE RADIO TO BREAK AND CUT OFF AUDIO]
Kevin heard the commotion and was starting to worry so he kept leaping forward while putting on his cowl, hoping the amount of casualties were minimal, but with an additional sense of optimism; nonexistent.
It didn't take long for him to arrive at the scene where a bunch of heroes were getting overwhelmed by armed people that were from the CCTV footage this morning. By the time he landed, he landed in front of the armed people who shot at him first. The Pro-heroes were shouting out for Kevin as the said teen was getting shot at, but when the armed people were reloading their mags, they saw their bullets lodge out of Kevin's torso and chest. The Pro-heroes saw this too and their eyes widened as Kevin had a bullet in between his teeth; so one must have been rejected from the digestive system. He spat it out and growled as he lowered himself and his adamantium claws started to creep out of his knuckles.
"Let's fuckin' go," Kevin said.
The armed people reloaded their guns and shot at Kevin one more time, but it was moot as he charged at them. He sliced their guns and slashed and hacked them. The Pro-heroes saw this and were stunned at Kevin's powers and instantaneous healing.
"Ragh!" Kevin roared.
…
Midoriya was running towards Iida, but wasn't far while this was happening and saw Kevin's feral side and was shocked. He had never seen Kevin fight like this before and was more shocked to see that Kevin was unaffected by the bullets. He also decapitated the Nomus with ease as well as some of them were in his way.
"This kid…" the Pro-hero said, "isn't he…"
"He is under Olympian-sama's agency," another Pro-hero said, "no wonder he took this kid in, he's an animal."
"Literally."
After Kevin was finished slicing some of them, they soon stood up with their wounds closing.
"What the hell?" Kevin said, "This is not possible."
They soon started to run off and disappeared with Kevin being unable to find them in the midst of the smoke and their scents being unidentifiable.
———
The wind roared as the Olympus helicopter cut through the early morning sky, the sun barely cresting over the horizon. Tokyo sprawled beneath them, but their destination was a war zone: Hosu District. Smoke curled skyward like claws. Distant booms echoed even above the whir of the rotors.
Peter stood at the edge of the open door, suit fully sealed, mask on, body tensed like a drawn arrow. The moment his HUD lit up with infrared scans of urban chaos, his instincts screamed.
"Prepare for a hot drop," one of the Olympus field agents said, securing a harness to the cabin wall.
Peter didn't respond. He leapt.
The world blurred as gravity took him, wind screaming past his ears. At the last second, he fired a web-line, catching a support beam. He slingshotted forward and began weaving through the maze of buildings, smoke, and collapsing infrastructure.
On the streets, it was hell. Pro-heroes were pinned down by gunfire. Nomus were fighting alongside armed humans with strange implants and masks. Civilians screamed from alleyways. Peter landed in a crouch, already taking in the surroundings. He noticed two things immediately: Every attacker was enhanced. They were using high-grade weaponry.
A shot rang out.
Peter flipped back instinctively, but the bullet entered his thigh. His HUD flared red. He let go of his webbing and fell down as he looked into his gunshot wound. He tensed said leg to get the said bullet out and the HUD analyzed the alloy.
VIBRANIUM ROUND DETECTED. LOCATION: LEFT THIGH. DAMAGE: NON-FATAL.
"They've got vibranium rounds," he muttered. He shoved it in his pocket as he had to focus.
He moved quickly. A building collapsed nearby. His enhanced hearing picked up the faintest scream beneath the debris.
"Child. Top floor. East wing."
He ran.
Adrenaline surged as he wall-ran up a cracked structure, leapt over a demolished ledge, and swung through a shattered window into a ruined apartment. A small girl, maybe six years old, was crying in the corner.
"Hey," Peter said gently, his voice softened through the suit, "I'm here. I'm going to get you out."
But the building groaned. A nearby support beam snapped. Concrete cracked above.
The entire floor began to tilt.
Peter grabbed her just as the upper wall gave way. With one hand, he shot a line to the nearest building. With the other, he shielded her.
BOOM.
The collapse sent debris everywhere. But Peter anchored his feet and threw himself under a massive concrete beam that would have crushed them both. His arms trembled as he held it up, webs stretching like ligaments under strain.
"Go! Crawl behind me!" he grunted. The little girl scurried underneath.
BANG.
Another bullet. This one hit his shoulder.
Then another to his lower right abdomen.
He yelled in pain, the building still pressing down. Blood leaked from his wounds.
A third shooter raised their rifle.
'Too many angles,' Peter thought. 'I can't protect her if they—'
Suddenly, a blur of motion. Masayoshi appeared.
Dressed in his tactical black Olympus gear, he shot forward like a shadow, striking one enemy with a concussive baton and disarming the other with a swift neck jab. He scooped the girl into his arms.
"Spider-Man," Masayoshi barked, "hold on just a little longer!"
Peter's arms quaked. He groaned, veins bulging under the strain.
"I got her," Masayoshi said, "She's safe. Now MOVE!"
Peter shot one last web, yanked himself forward, and released the collapsing structure. The debris thundered behind him.
He landed in a roll, gasping, blood dripping from three gunshot wounds. He looked up, his lenses cracked. Masayoshi gave him a look. No words.
Then a new sound.
Boom.
It wasn't an explosion. It was heavier. Deeper.
BOOM.
The pavement cracked as something massive landed down the street, sending out a shockwave. Smoke parted. There was a large man.
Eight feet tall. Steel-forged muscles. Cybernetic limbs. His eyes glowed crimson beneath a plated tactical helm. His back carried a heavy repeater gun and a massive reinforced blade strapped diagonally. This wasn't a villain.
This was a monster made for war.
"…What the hell?" Peter breathed.
Kevin appeared behind him, claws extended, body streaked with cuts on his suit and enemy blood, "That's the guy. That's their Alpha. They call him the Iron Maul."
Peter struggled to his feet, "He's got to be augmented. No human can survive this level of cybernetic integration."
Peter scanned the battlefield again, hoping for reinforcements, but they weren't coming. He reached for his comms, "Vanessa, status?"
Her voice crackled through, "Still at the hospital with Mary. No way I'm leaving her side."
Peter exhaled, relieved they were safe.
Iron Maul raised his voice. Deep. Robotic.
"Olympus. Finally, let's see what your blood tastes like."
Then he moved.
FAST.
He shoulder-checked Kevin through a reinforced steel wall.
Peter leapt up, webbed the barrel of Iron Maul's gun and yanked it, spinning himself into a dropkick. It landed barely, but Iron Maul didn't budge.
Iron Maul grabbed Peter by the throat and lifted him.
Peter gasped. He fired a point-blank taser-web blast to Iron Maul's face. Sparks flew. The cybernetic monster snarled and threw him across the intersection.
Peter tumbled into a car windshield, the impact cracking it like ice under a boot. His HUD blinked erratically, glitching from the trauma. Sparks flickered at the edges of his display. The right lens of his mask shattered, and the left side tore open entirely, exposing his bloodied face. A deep gash ran down his temple, and his lip was split. The suit's chest area was scorched, punctured in two places, and his side paneling was peeling back, revealing bruised, bleeding skin underneath.
VITAL SIGNS: CRITICAL. INTERNAL BLEEDING DETECTED. SHATTERED RIBS CAUSING TWO TENSION HEMOPNEUMOTHORACES
He coughed blood as it exited out of his mouth. His muscles screamed.
But then he heard it.
A missile lock. He looked.
Iron Maul had aimed a shoulder launcher… at Alchemax Hospital.
Peter's blood froze.
"NO!" he roared.
FWOOOSH—BOOM!
The warhead launched.
Explosion.
Peter's eyes widened. His baby sister. His mother. His father. Mary. Even Vanessa.
Gone?
"You fuck…" Peter said quietly… he looked at Iron Maul, but all the said juggernaut could see was Peter's shadow as his expression was unreadable.
Everything in Peter snapped. What followed wasn't hero work.
It was an execution.
He looked at Iron Maul with utter fury, teeth gritted, eyes burning with a quiet, but feral rage that seemed almost inhuman. Blood streaked down his face as he web-sling shot forward like a meteor, shoulder slamming into Iron Maul and driving him through an entire building. Steel and glass exploded around them.
Peter didn't pause. He leapt onto him, webbing Iron Maul's limbs to steel beams.
Iron Maul struggled, his strength immense, but Peter went feral.
He drove fists into Iron Maul's face again and again.
CRACK. CRUNCH. SMASH.
Metal shattered. Blood sprayed.
He tore off Iron Maul's mechanical arm and beat him with it.
Masayoshi arrived. Even he froze.
Peter's eyes were wide. Glazed. Primal.
He kept punching.
Kevin landed behind him, "Peter! That's enough!"
Peter didn't stop. Kevin reached forward to grab his shoulder, but Peter was blinded by rage and grief, he grabbed Kevin's arms and threw him over with a violent burst of strength, sending him skidding across the floor. The impact cracked the pavement.
Then Peter turned back to Iron Maul, seething. Peter picked up the man by the collar and slammed him down before—
"YOU KILLED INNOCENT PEOPLE! KILLED MY MOTHER! MY FATHER! MY FRIEND! MY SISTER! SOMEONE I LOVE!" Peter screamed, "I WILL NEVER—"
WHAM.
"EVER…"
He head-butted Iron Maul with a sickening crunch.
"LET ANYONE…"
WHAM. Again.
"HURT ANYONE I HAVE LEFT!"
WHAM. Blood splattered. The cybernetic helm cracked further.
"EVER AGAIN!"
WHAM. Peter's own forehead split, leaking crimson, but he didn't stop.
"AUGHHHHHHHHHHH!"
WHAM. WHAM. WHAM.
Each headbutt was a cry of grief, fury, helplessness.
Iron Maul's faceplate shattered.
Still, Peter didn't stop, regardless of the amount of blood that splattered all over his body.
He kept going until the loss of blood overwhelmed his body and he breathed heavily. He huffed loud and clear for people in the vicinity to hear.
Iron Maul was unconscious. Maybe dead. Blood pooled around him as the said villain's skull had caved in.
Peter collapsed as blood started pooling out of his cracked skull, but Iron Maul's blood was already present; his blood-caked body didn't change.
Masayoshi caught him.
"We need a medevac, NOW!"
Kevin looked at Peter who came out unscathed due to his healing factor. He'd never seen Peter like that. Not even in Olympus training, but what frightened him the most was how guttural and primal Peter was when said teen was beating on Iron Maul.
Masayoshi looked at Peter with an unreadable expression as he looked at Peter who was unconscious and completely covered in blood.
———
The medevac chopper touched down on the Olympus Trauma Center's rooftop with a violent jolt, wind whipping around the landing pad. Paramedics in reinforced armor rushed forward as the cabin door opened, revealing Peter's limp form sprawled on a stretcher, his suit nearly shredded, blood completely dressing his skin and suit with more blood pooling beneath him. A paramedic can be seen bagging him as Peter was already intubated.
"Vitals unstable! He's coding!" one of the trauma nurses shouted.
Iida, Midoriya, and Todoroki had arrived seconds earlier to get treated, summoned by a panicked Olympus-wide alert. They could only watch, wide-eyed, as their class representative, Spider-Man, Peter Gene Sakaeda, was rushed through the rooftop entrance, a swarm of medics surrounding him as he was being wheeled through the trauma center.
Peter's chest rose and fell in shallow jerks. The damage was staggering.
"This patient has a GCS of 5. He has suffered three gunshot wounds. Internal hemorrhaging. Crushed ribs and has two tension hemopneumothoraces. Shattered orbital bone. Self-inflicted frontal cranial trauma, possible TBI," an Olympus Paramedic said.
The Olympus medbay had seen chaos before, but nothing like this.
…
Inside the operating theater, a Trauma Surgeon Dr. Akiyama, the head of trauma surgery of Olympus, had a team that consisted of Neuro and Cardiothoracic surgeons under his service, consisting of attendings, surgical fellows, and several senior residents.
"Start the transfusion, NOW! We're going to need at least 30 units to stabilize him. Prep for thoracostomies and a craniotomy."
"Sir, his blood pressure's plummeting!"
"Get me more bags. We'll go up to 40 units if we have to. Keep him alive!"
Peter's body was unrecognizable beneath the medical drapes. Machinery beeped and hissed around him. The surgeons fought to keep up with the pace of internal damage. One artery was barely clamped before another ruptured. His healing factor, strong as it was, struggled to compete with the sheer trauma.
A surgeon gasped, "He's still fighting… even unconscious. His grip… look at his hand."
Peter's fingers twitched, then clenched into a fist.
———
Class 1-A gathered in the ICU lounge, hushed and tense. No one joked. No one scrolled on their phones. They watched the clock, the floor, the doors, anything but each other. All in their hero outfits as the pro-heroes who interned his classmates were notified of Peter's condition.
The said heroes asked the said Class 1-A students who are interning under them if they knew a Peter Gene Sakaeda. They soon explained to the students what happened to Peter and then excused said students so they could be there for their said classmate who was hanging on by a thread.
Midoriya sat hunched forward, knuckles are white against his thighs. Todoroki leaned against the wall, eyes cast down. Iida stood pacing in tight circles. All three had sustained minor injuries during the confrontation with Stain. They suffered lacerations, burns, and bruises, nothing life-threatening, but enough to require treatment. Due to their status as Peter and Kevin's classmates, Olympus made an exception and admitted them to the trauma center for evaluation. Rather than return to the treatment room to rest after being treated, they chose to remain in the ICU lounge, still wearing their patient gowns, wristbands, and medical gauze, determined to wait for news on Peter.
Kevin, sitting in the corner, was silent. He hadn't spoken since the medevac arrived. His knuckles were still dusted with dirt and blood. Vanessa rested her head on his shoulder, her expression soft but shaken. Mary sat nearby, arms crossed tightly, her eyes fixed on the ICU doors with unblinking intensity. Her usual calm had fractured into silent desperation, and the tremor in her leg betrayed the storm within.
"They said he lost more than 40 units of blood," she whispered.
Kevin didn't look up, "I know. I counted."
Just then, the doors to the ICU swung open, and a doctor in black scrubs and a dark gray Olympus coat stepped through. His expression was composed but serious, his glasses catching the sterile ceiling light as he approached the waiting students.
"Class 1-A?" he addressed, scanning their faces, "I'm Dr. Akiyama. I am the Trauma Surgeon that led the trauma team for your classmate."
Everyone stood immediately.
"He's stable," Akiyama said, "But it was close. He sustained massive internal damage, multiple gunshot wounds, a shattered orbital, and significant blood loss. We had to transfuse over 40 units. His healing factor helped, but it also delayed our ability to operate because of clotting irregularities."
Midoriya's hands trembled slightly, "Will he make a full recovery?"
"Eventually. He's already breathing on his own. He's strong. Fiercely strong." Dr. Akiyama looked at them, then focused briefly on Mary, "He was speaking in English and asked for you even while sedated."
Mary nodded, emotion swelling in her chest. The class sighed in relief.
"You can see him," Akiyama added, "But quietly. He's in Recovery Room 3. One at a time."
Dr. Akiyama adjusts his glasses, looking at the wide-eyed students. His voice softens just slightly, though it still carries the steel of a man who's seen too many young heroes cut open on his table.
"You're fortunate to have a classmate like him and his cousin," Akiyama says the class looked to Kevin, "These two don't just fight villains, they fought a fight most pros turn away from, the dirty fights that no one thanks you for. This one nearly died tonight because he refused to let someone else carry that burden. That kind of courage… that kind of resolve… you'd do well to remember it."
He adjusts his glasses, steps back toward the ICU doors, and adds quietly, "Heroes like these two don't come around often. Stand with them. Learn from them. And don't let them carry it alone," Akiyama said, referring to Kevin.
The heaviness didn't lift, but it reshaped into resolve. Their classmate wasn't just alive, he was proof that even on the edge of death, he refused to let go. And that was enough to keep them standing.
———
The beeping of the heart monitor echoed softly in the dim, sterile room. Peter lay motionless, his body covered in bandages, IVs threading into both arms. Machines clicked, whirred, monitored every breath.
He stirred.
His eyelids fluttered. His lips parted.
Vision blurred, he blinked against the brightness. Shapes came into focus. The white ceiling. The IV bag. A pale hand resting on his.
Mary.
She was asleep beside him, head resting on the edge of his bed, her hand gently cradling his. Stray hairs fell across her cheek, and dried tear stains painted trails down her face. She hadn't let go.
Peter moved his fingers. Her eyes opened instantly.
She sat up quickly, "Peter?"
He groaned, "Mary…?"
She cupped his cheek gently, "I'm here. You're okay. You're safe."
He blinked slowly, piecing together fragments.
"Hospital... Iron Maul... the missile—"
"It didn't hit us," she whispered, squeezing his hand tighter, "It hit the west wing. We were in the east. Your Mom and Dad are okay, we all evacuated and got transferred here."
His eyes widened.
"They're okay? My parents are okay?"
Mary nodded, "They are."
"The baby...?"
A soft knock at the door. Kevin, who was dressed in his Hero Outfit which has been evidently repaired and is now pristine, stepped in quietly, holding a small bundle in his arms, wrapped in a warm white hospital blanket.
"Meet Emily Jane Sakaeda," he said, voice softer than Peter had ever heard, "Don't worry, your Dad got to hold her already. Here, hold her."
Peter stared, wide-eyed, as Kevin gently placed the bundle in his arms.
The newborn stirred, a small pink face peeking from the folds.
Peter took a deep breath, sighing in relief, "Hello…"
He looked at Mary, "I thought I lost everything, I thought I lost you…" he whispered.
Mary placed her forehead to his, tears returning.
"You didn't."
He held his baby sister to his chest, his breath shuddering, as the machines beeped steadily around them.
In that moment, the world was quiet again.
Not because the pain had gone.
But because for now, he had something worth holding onto. He soon realized and remembered what he did and looked at Kevin, but he gave Peter a nod as if to say, "We're okay."
On the table beside his bed, barely propped up by a cup of applesauce, sat a small, crayon-colored card folded unevenly in half. The handwriting was messy, the hiragana crooked and shaky, but it read: [おにいちゃん,ありがとう!]—Thank you, big brother! It was from the little girl he had saved in the collapsing building. She had insisted on delivering it herself earlier that morning, clutching it like treasure.
Moments later, the door creaked open again. This time, it wasn't just one person… it was all of Class 1-A. One by one, they stepped into the room, hesitant at first, then gradually crowding around his bedside, eyes wide with concern, relief, and awe. Midoriya clutched his wristband. Jiro brought in Peter's favorite juice. Even Bakugou stood at the back of the room with his arms crossed, scowling, but he was there.
Peter looked up at them, exhausted but smiling faintly. The weight of everything hadn't vanished, but something else had returned… his family.

Peter stood up and put on his mask. He later did a two-finger salute to Kevin, Mary, and Vanessa as he ran and jumped off the roof doing a pose while rotating his body (Like Peter Parker intro from Into the Spider-Verse).

Peter soon walked past all his classmates who gave him a nod of approval except for Bakugou who simply looked away and huffed. As the last few seconds of the song played, Peter took off his mask and had a look of determination as he, Kevin and the rest of Class 1-A started walking with the sun rising.

It was the next afternoon JaWill was in his lab, returning from school not too long ago as he was creating a black suit made of a vibranium-adamantium weave that resembled a black panther. He opened up his desktop and saw an email from Peter with an SOS label on it. He opened the email and saw a photo of the bullet and read the message, 'It penetrated the suit! I think we have a problem.'
As JaWill read the file of what the bullet was composed of, he clenched his fist and started to get stressed, "This is a fucking disaster. I need to notify my Mother."
