"This is very touching," Edith interrupted, "but you do need to make a decision about the anchor. And probably prepare for company. The vampires will arrive first—they're always punctual. The fae will be fashionably late, and the witches will show up whenever they feel like it because they're useless at timekeeping."
The four mates looked at each other, and in that moment, Samantha saw reflected in her mates' eyes the same certainty she felt. They were in this together. Whatever came next—ancient witches, vampire delegations, fae courts, or any other supernatural nonsense—they would face it as a family.
"We accept the anchor," Marcus said finally. "With conditions."
"I'd expect nothing less," Edith replied, setting aside her knitting with obvious satisfaction.
"First," Marcus continued, "Morgana reviews the enchantment thoroughly. No hidden clauses, no unexpected side effects."
