"There's something else," Marcus whispered urgently. "Something I didn't tell you about Prague. The Harvester wasn't working alone."
Before she could respond, he was pulling her deeper into the maintenance room, past humming generators and through a maze of pipes that seemed to stretch further than the building's dimensions should have allowed. The club's supernatural architecture was working in their favor now, creating space where none should exist.
"Listen to me carefully," Marcus said, his voice barely audible over the mechanical noise. "We need to separate. Vex'thul is tracking our combined essence—the merged aura from our bonding. If we split up, it will confuse the trail, at least temporarily."
"Absolutely not," Samantha hissed, her grip on his hand becoming almost painful. "I'm not leaving you to face that thing alone."
