"What do you want to do?"
Amanda nervously wrapped her arms around Roger.
Roger was also a bit surprised. Although his ambush had disrupted Heyman's plans, it didn't mean Jora wouldn't be suspicious of him because of it.
In truth, all Roger could do was deploy a few smoke bombs, stall for time as much as possible, and try to look for an opportunity.
At least the items he had just offered Sonia—if they had sought them out themselves—it would have cost them significant time.
"I hope we can talk, just the two of us."
Jora's gaze burned fiercely, and Roger couldn't discern what emotions she was hiding within.
"Alright."
Roger nodded and agreed. He discreetly pinched Amanda's fingers, giving her a meaningful look, then followed Jora out of the palace.
No one noticed the slight dimming of the shadow trailing behind Roger as they left the palace.
Jora said nothing along the way but led Roger up the stairs, higher and higher, until they reached the highest point of the valley.
