Chapter 127 - 63. Three Months Long (part 1)

Character : Nathan Fiore, Three Months Long

-----

After that long talk with the headmaster, Frisena pulled me away and brought me to an office.

This room is also underneath the ocean, right at the ocean floor, and it seemed to be private only to Frisena. Upon entering, the scent of coffee caught my nose.

"Is it just me or Avenor people just liked coffee too much--"

SRINGG!!!!

Without realizing, a blade has now arrived right in front of my neck.

My body froze on the spot, and my eyes only stared at Frisena's back. Her whole body wasn't even facing me, but she knows just when to stop her blade before it reaches me.

"Is everything that he says… true?" Frisena asked right after we entered her office, but I don't exactly know the truth.

"And what if it is?"

"Then, I will have to disappoint my sister and kill her boyfriend right here and now. Are you, or are you not… the Harbinger of Death?" Frisena turned her face slightly so she could see me, but I didn't exactly know what to answer.

"Everything that we know so far, they are all information given by the headmaster. We know nothing else outside of it, and we have no other source of information.

However… I can at least promise you something. So long that this world stays with the name 'Avenor', I will not abandon it."

I gave Frisena the answer that she wanted to hear the most. Because, logically speaking, the only one who's been saying I'm a Harbinger is just Hendrick. No one else has said it, and until we find concrete evidence that I am, that statement will remain negative.

Frisena moved her blade away and began walking in the room calmly.

"Feel free to make your own cup of coffee." She suddenly said with such ease, as if the talk we just had means nothing to her.

I lifted my hand to touch my neck, and that knife genuinely almost stabbed me. I couldn't even react to it since it was so fast, and I chuckled from how I nearly died.

"You actually could've killed me…"

"If it means saving the world, I'd have done it without spending a second. Of course, I'll still hesitate, because you're my stupid sister's crush."

"I-Is that the only reason why…? Not because of everything we've gone through together?" I tried saying it nicely, but it seems like Frisena wanted to puke.

"… Do you actually wanna die?"

"Let's talk about what Hendrick said! About the… Ah, yes. His children." I very quickly changed the topic, and Frisena was also reminded of it.

"I have already sorted that out. When he told me about his children, I made that my highest priority and tried finding out more about them. We've unsealed them, questioned them, and made them our own. Even though they still needed time to adapt into our society, they can live like normal people just fine.

On the other hand, I want you to investigate something else." Frisena said as she took out a tablet from her storage bracelet, and I only turned curious.

"What is it?"

"Headmaster Hendrick said something about how Omega was always accompanied by five 'Elite Masters', and that these five had something called 'Demonic' origins."

"Demonic origins… what even is that?"

"Well, I can tell you. The title 'Demonic' was given to origins that have blended with the darkness origin. And the title 'Angelic' was given to origins that have blended with the light origins."

"Y-You mean unique origins like the dark fire origin? The one that Felicia has?"

"That is indeed an example of a 'Demonic' origin. It is the terminology used by the ancient society at the age of the war demon. So, before you accused me of being racist,-"

"I was going to say… how cruel are you to name anything black 'Demonic'?"

"Well, if it makes you feel better, the ancient society loves these demonic origins." Frisena pointed out as she opened something on her tablet, and she turned the tablet so that I could see.

It reveals images, multiple images, containing ancient writings and drawings.

"I… can't read this."

"You can at least see the drawings, can't you?"

Frisena moved the images one by one, and I spotted one that I could see very clearly. It is an ancient drawing of multiple people kneeling at one singular individual, and it was drawn that the individual had black flames coming out of their hands.

It's clear that the person the people are kneeling to has a dark fire origin. And seeing such a drawing, it was also clear that this person with the dark fire origin was viewed highly by the ancient society.

"Where did you even find these images…?"

"At the ruins the headmaster left behind. After his failed attempt to revive the war demon, the pyramids are still standing. And within those pyramids, these writings and images can be found on the walls and pillars.

It's a pity the tallest building collapsed. We tried scavenging any drawings, but we could only find pieces. Those drawings could've been clues to us as to how the war demon can be revived."

Frisena turned her judging glare to me, and I just shrugged my head.

"Sorry~."

"In any case, I want you to investigate this.

If the five 'Elites' who are basically Omega's underlings will be the one to revive Omega, then we'll need to find them and stop them. From the description that we have, it's clear that these five are going to have the 'Demonic' origins. The unique origins formed by a blend between the five basic origins and the darkness origin.

It can also make things easier if you just find anyone who is an 'Elite'. Anyone who is not only owning the demonic origins, but also very strong."

That… does make sense. I'm surprised Frisena was able to think all of that right after she just heard it, but this task is worth the chase.

"I'll… try something out. I do have some guesses since I am aware of a few people with demonic origins. Actually, I have something regarding it that I'm more curious about."

"And that is?"

"Regarding my mission at the dark republic. The one you gave me three months ago."

"Oh? That boring reconnaissance mission that you spent three months on?"

"It… wasn't exactly boring."

I began telling Frisena about how the mission went. It is the first time we've seen each other ever since she gave me the mission, and I just thought she'd want to know about it.

"So… you spent three months in a village of refugees… cooking soup?"

"I became a chef. A five star chef! You should've seen what the people said when they tried my cooking!"

"I'm shocked. And here I thought you were spending hours under the snow. You look so much thinner."

"That's because I'm fasting. I had to, the food there was very scarce. I also felt the people there needed it more than me, considering they all suffered so much under Zero's ruling. They also lost their homes…"

"Okay, fine. You were doing community work. What exactly did you get from that mission?"

"It's just… I met someone."
