Chapter 120 - 59. Returning Party (part 2)

"Well, that clearly wasn't there before. Did you learn it during your mission?" Jonah pointed out, but he is very wrong.

"No, I've known about it for a long time already."

"R-Really? I've never seen you use it during the war."

"I never got a chance to use it. All of my opponents are either too weak or simply demonic enough for the technique to be useless." I reasoned with them, and they all had a flashback to this 'Demonic' individual we all fought.

"Oh, god. The headmaster."

"And Zero…"

Both Jonah and Nathan were reminded of those two monsters, and they are definitely having a trauma flashback after having their memories jogged. Sure enough, that was a traumatizing experience.

"Was the headmaster that bad, Nyssa?" Being the only person who doesn't know, Rejulus turned to the silent girl who sat across from me. And hearing the headmaster being mentioned to her, Nyssa immediately turned around.

"HUEEKK!!!!!--"

"Oh god dear my wow---"

Yeah… we are definitely traumatized.

After eating dinner at the cafeteria, the five of us split up. Nathan had to go with Rejulus to write a letter to their family at Fiordall, because that guy hasn't been home for a long time. The two headed to the class building, where they'll be sending their mail at the mailing office at the class building.

Nyssa and Jonah said they're going to have a private training session together at the special arena, and I can only fold my arms to see if they're telling the truth.

They've been caught once before… in the middle of the war, too. For them to do this at this time… how embarrassing.

"Oh. Princess."

On my way back to the dormitory, a familiar voice called from behind. I became frozen right away, and I slowly turns my gaze around.

"Hello, Eric. How are things going?" I greeted him, but the guy didn't even care to look at me.

"I'm just wondering. That prince… where did he go?"

"Oh. Nathan went to the vice headmaster's office for a bit. He had something to do in the room." I lied, and Eric turned confused.

"The Vice Headmaster is dead… the hell is he doing there?"

"My sister is occupying that room, you know? She's a teacher here now."

"What the--Forget it, then. If you do see him, tell him I'm looking for him." Eric said before he walked away.

"Sure." I also began walking away, and I can feel my body turning colder by the second.

… Damn. God damn, indeed.

The evening continues, and Nyssa finally comes back after spending two hours training with Jonah.

"Welcome back. Did you two have fun?" I asked Nyssa right after she entered, and she only shook her head.

"Please… I'm tired." Nyssa shook her head as she headed straight for her bed across the room, and I only laughed seeing her sweating top to bottom.

"Haha! You two did it, didn't you?"

"What are you saying…?"

Nyssa landed her body on the bed effortlessly, and she looked very happy being able to hug her pillows despite being drenched in sweat.

"Hmm~, I'm wondering what made you so tired." I turned my sitting position to face her at her bed, and Nyssa turned her annoyed eyes to me.

"We were just training."

"Is that so~, and…?"

"And I'm going to beat you tomorrow."

Haha. She is so cute. It's so hard to believe a girl like her is actually doing indecent things.

"I'm serious… Jonah trained me like I'm the future holy knight or whatever…" Nyssa explained with such annoyance, and I only laughed it off.

"Must've been one heavy training. You look so exhausted."

"What kind of trainer forced me to run laps after sundown…?"

"Wow, he was really training you. Which part do you think he is good at?"

"He's good at kissing..."

Nyssa blurted out so bluntly, and I quickly grinned upon hearing that. She turned her annoyed gaze back to me and realized I was grinning at her.

"Shut up."

"Oh, Nyssa! You are such a naughty girl!"

"I hate you."

At that very moment, Nyssa stopped replying. Every time I tried chatting with her, she just stayed silent.

What a pity… I wanted to tease her more.

"Nyssa, can we have a serious talk for a second?" I said to her after Nyssa calmed down, and she turned her body again to me.

"What is it?"

"For tomorrow's fight… can you just tell me what it is that you're going to wish for?" I tried asking her one more time, and Nyssa pondered a long while before answering.

"I… just want my parents to be happy."

Her parents? Ah… I see.

Nyssa is barely a noble. Her real parents were barons, but she was adopted by a count family, and she was forced to be the one attending the academy in that family's name. She was told to carry the name 'Vaico' and bring that name into higher heights.

And considering Nyssa's current achievements, it's clear to anyone that the name 'Vaico' isn't just a count's name anymore. With the things she has done, the name has definitely grown in power, allowing Count Vaico to have more capabilities including ascending the noble ranking.

"And you want your real family… the baron family to…"

"Yeah. I just don't want them to suffer anymore." Nyssa said with all her heart, and I understood her position.

In that case… my plan will go on just fine.

"Nyssa. Let's make a deal." I quickly said after firming my decision, and Nyssa lifted her body up.

"You want to be the one fulfilling my wish…?" She guessed correctly, and I nodded.

"I'm your friend, Nyssa… I'm just wondering why you've never talked to me about this."

"Because once I do, you won't become my friend anymore. You'll become my benefactor, a helper. I will no longer see you as a friend that way."

That is true… If this proceeds, then our relationship might change.

However, I'm willing to try and risk it. Perhaps, by making it even better.

"I will help you, Nyssa. I'll find a way to solve your family's situation." I said to her firmly, and Nyssa turned her surprised gaze to me.

"… Why?"

"Because I need you to make me a promise for tomorrow." I answered my reasoning, and Nyssa only giggles hearing it.

"You want me to fight half heartedly, is it?"

"No. The opposite.

Nyssa. I want you to fight your opponents tomorrow like you're fighting Zero and the headmaster." My words were delivered firmly to her, and Nyssa opened her eyes widely.

She noticed my expression that said that I am being serious, and she turned confused as to why I even wished for such a thing.

"W-Why…?"

"Promise me, Nyssa. Tomorrow, you will fight to kill your opponents. No matter who it is." I tried once again to convince her, but Nyssa still didn't seem to get it. However, she realized what the deal was about, and she knows what I want isn't something so simple.

"Against you… you want me to fight as if I want to kill you?"

"Not just against me, but against all of your opponents. I want you to become a monster. Can you do that?" I asked firmly once more, and Nyssa nodded firmly with a firm expression as well.

"... I understand. After that, you better treat me to some nice meal."

"It's a deal!" I grinned right away, and Nyssa smiled softly as well. However, deep down, we both know how tomorrow will turn out.

Tomorrow… the battles will not turn out like how any of us expected.

Tomorrow, blood will be shed.

I have done my part, Nathan… It's all up to you next.
