Lydia paused.
'Wait, thank you, my ass. He's clearly mocking me.'
'From the way they're looking, the original owner has probably been sitting beside El-Pidio.'
"I've been studying," Lydia added.
"Then you should study more," Qhah-el said as he turned to the first course, which was steaming in front of him.
"I intend to," Lydia said aware, her immediate response to his first line was not the best. Although she caught it quickly, there was still a three second pause, and it seemed all of them caught it, probably because they're used to those kinds of wordplay.
Lydia waited for Qhah-el's response, but his perfectly shaped lips remained close.
What he did instead was pick up the soup spoon before looking at her once. Then his gaze shifted to Euindeine, El-Pidio, then to Qumar, who was sharply eyeing him for saying that to her right at the table.
Qhah-el didn't mind him, though. He scooped some stew calmly instead.
