Chapter 256 - Rusted Pots and Pans

Chapter 256 Rusted Pots and Pans

Fayre's face turned pale, mouth agape, silently screaming despite her past proclamation of being on the front lines. Because Lucia was distracted, it took her a moment to realize Fayre had discovered her. When she noticed Fayre in her direction, she quickly left the room, leaving the girl frozen and alone.

"I knew there was something following me, but it is too dark to make out what it was," Fayre murmured in a stammer. She was stuck there for the entire night, shivering in fear of the mysterious presence that had disappeared from her sight and had been playing tricks on her.

Aleshia woke up and went through her usual morning routine. While she stepped out of the room, she vaguely remembered that she had cured two people. On her way to the designated meeting spot, she decided to check on the people she had cured first, which would delay her arrival.

Despite that, she stepped into the cursed room. Looking around at the cots, she noticed that Rebel's cot was empty, while those she had cured appeared to be sleeping peacefully.

Aleshia vaguely remembered assigning a job to Lucia, and it seemed she had accomplished it. Now, all Aleshia needed to do was find out where Lucia was. She looked around the room, scrutinizing the others who would eventually be subject to her care, and spotted Lucia near the door. It seemed that when Aleshia had opened the door, she accidentally hid Lucia behind it.

"There you are! It seems you were successful. Thank you for taking care of her; it has eased my mind."

"It's alright, that's why I'm here. So, why not?" Lucia said nonchalantly. She hopped onto Aleshia's head, and together they left the room and walked to the door to wait for the others to join them.

After a while, Aleshia realized that no one was coming. She had completed all her tasks and had no quests or plans to pursue. As she stood near the door, she contemplated her next steps and suddenly remembered that the camp needed food.

Aleshia walked to the kitchen area and checked inside a few cabinets. She found some pots and pans that were in poor condition and dirty. Picking them up, she inspected them closely. It was clear they had been used, albeit infrequently, as they showed signs of rust.

Determined to make use of them, Aleshia conjured some water to help with the task. After washing several pots and pans, she began preparing lunch using the frozen fish that she and Lucia had caught and stored in her bag.
