Chapter 233 Assistant
Sam fought with Em's hand for a minute before he calmed down and took in the situation. He realized he had been too stubborn in his approach and had rushed into things without considering the situation, time, or place.
Em noticed that Sam was recognizing his faults and gradually removed her hand from his mouth as he calmed down. After some grumbling, he apologized to Aleshia, saying, "I'm sorry for getting ahead of myself and not considering the situation properly."
Sam was on his knees in a gesture of repentance, and he seemed genuinely remorseful.
Aleshia waved him off, saying, "It's alright; you didn't do much to me anyway." She surveyed the room, then added, "Though do keep your voice down."
At her words, Sam sank even deeper into his kneeling, realizing he must have woken someone up with his yelling. Just then, the last person they were waiting for arrived: It was Ren. "Hmm, that's an interesting pose to be in," she remarked. Understanding what must have caused this, she decided to play along. With a mischievous smile, she continued, "So you're the one who was making such a racket."
At her words, Sam flinched and quickly apologized for his actions. "I'm sorry. I made a rash decision, and I'm truly sorry."
After playing with him for a while, Ren paused her mischievous antics and got straight to business. "Alright, Aleshia, you can come with me to see Daniel. You two can tag along as well," she said, her tone allowing for no disagreement.
They soon followed her to Daniel's shared space, which served as both an office and a storage room. Inside, weapons were resting on racks, and nearby, a locker filled with paper and essentials. Despite the dust covering the weapons, they showed no signs of warping or rust, indicating that they had been cared for as keepsakes. Daniel sat in a chair at what could be seen as the center of the room, while another person present, whom Aleshia recognized as Rebel—the first she and Lucia had treated—was also there.
Rebel seemed to have much more energy than the last time Aleshia saw her. Aleshia introduced herself, saying, "Hi there! I don't think we've met officially. I'm Aleshia, and above me is my hat, known as Lucia." Lucia, playing along, waved at Rebel, which startled her so much that she covered her face in surprise. After calming her reaction, Rebel responded, "I've been hearing things about you. I'm Rebel, if you haven't already heard. I'm the assistant to this oaf over here," she said, pointing to Daniel.
"Hey!" he exclaimed. "I'm the one assisting you much more. You can barely walk straight, even though you've been up for a week!" he bantered.
