A fireball screamed toward Melisa's face.
She dodged left, her own spellsign already half-drawn in the air. Blue flames burst from her palm a second later, curving through the air toward Zephyra.
Zephyra didn't even look. A wind barrier snapped into existence, and Melisa's attack splashed against it harmlessly before dissipating into the treeline.
"Good instinct," Zephyra called out. She was already weaving her next spell. "But predictable. Pressing the attack is nice, but you don't need to pump out spells every single second. Against an experienced opponent, all you're doing is wasting Essence."
Melisa nodded to herself. Then, she rolled up as a stone spike erupted from the ground where she'd been standing a second ago. She came up firing three rapid bolts of blue flame, trying to aim for where Zephyra would be rather than where she was.
