Sophia opened her eyes to a white, secluded place, devoid of everything.
"Huh? Where am I?"
She looked around for anything at all, and in the distance she spotted a blurry, hazy figure.
"Welcome, Sophia," said the figure. "Before you ask any questions, you must listen to what I have to say."
Sophia nodded.
"You have died. You were so fascinated by the bunnies in a pet shop that you didn't notice a stray dog running straight at you."
So I died while gazing at cute little bunnies, she thought. It doesn't sound all that bad, really.
"So... what happens now?" she asked.
"You will be reincarnated in a world of magic and magical beasts. You've sometimes wished for a world like that, haven't you?"
"OMG! Really?" Her face lit up with excitement.
"Really. Furthermore, a lapse in my oversight let that dog slip through, so part of the accident is my fault. As an apology, I will grant you one privilege: an innate talent to help you survive and grow in that world."
"I see... Just one question. Since I'm going to a world with magic, will I be able to use its power system?"
"Of course. That is already granted to all reincarnators."
"Then I have no more questions!"
"Very well. I will transfer your soul and recreate your body in that world. Your new form will be shaped by what your soul wanted most," the figure added, a little too casually. Sophia was too excited to notice. "You have my blessing. Good luck on your adventures, and I hope you have fun."
"I will! And thank you for your help," she said, but before she finished, her vision went black as she entered the void.
