Beep... beep... beep... The room echoed with the rhythmic sound of my heartbeat on the electrocardiogram (ECG) monitor. Suddenly, the steady beeping morphed into a harsh, urgent alarm—BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! Beeeeeeeep— The flatline screamed through the room, instantly drawing the attention of everyone in the corridor.
Three doctors burst in, followed closely by the head nurse and two other nurses, all pushing a code cart and rushing equipment for resuscitation. The head nurse immediately began CPR while the nurses prepped the defibrillator.
Just as the doctor moved to place the paddles on my chest, I seized his hand and twisted sharply toward him. The defibrillator slipped from his grasp, landing with a heavy thud against his chest and sending him stumbling backward.
"Dr. Jiang! Are you okay?" the head nurse shouted, rushing to his side.
"Weeh! Jiang Si, are you crazy? Why would you try to use that on me? Do I look dead to you?" I snapped, furrowing my brow, my gaze sharp and charged with a murderous intensity that filled the room.
"I... I... you... you..."Jiang stammered. "Argh! It's hopeless trying to explain. It's just good that you're awake."
"You scared the crap out of everyone. Wen Zhin and Xiao Zhi have been pacing outside, anxiously waiting and praying you make it through—while you're busy sending doctors flying across the room," he said sarcastically, a flicker of helplessness crossing his face as he crossed his arms. His hair still fizzed and crackled with static from the electric shock.
"You talk too much," I shot back, pushing his face away as I swung my legs off the bed and stood up. The moment I walked toward the door, they knew I was heading for a fight.
I stepped out of the hospital in my gown. A sleek black Mercedes-Benz Viano was waiting for me. We climbed in and left immediately. I slid into the back seat and began changing and gearing up for what was to come.
Wen Zhin and Xiao Zhi whispered nervously beside me until I interrupted. "What's the situation?" I asked sharply, climbing over the seats to reach the rear.
"Argh!" Wen Zhin jumped at my sudden voice.
"They waited outside the target area after you woke," Xiao Zhi explained.
"Zhao Zhao, are you sure you got shot? Are you even human?" he asked in disbelief seeing how energetic I was.
"Where you get the strength to do all of that after staying in an ICU? What am I even saying? You didn't even reach the ICU minimum time length of a person who was in a condition like yours.
Technically, you broke the world's record of the fastest person to wake up after almost meeting her maker." he said, shaking his head in disbelief, a mixture of awe and frustration flickering in his eyes.
"Guess he is not ready to meet this Lóng Dì." I said giving him a crooked grin as I cocked the gun in my hand. He stared at me for a moment, then sighed as he shook his head.
"We have arrived." the driver said, stopping the car as we got out.
The moment I got out of the car, all the members stood firm and saluted me. I walked towards the and stood in front of them as I reached out for my bǐ shǒu on my thighs. I sprinted through them towards the gate, my speed to fast for any of them to notice. I kicked the gate open, sending it flying to the center with just one kick. They only noticed that I was no longer standing in front of them after they heard a loud bang a the gate.
"BANG!" Everyone turned toward the gate at the sound. There I stood, right in the middle, with the gate toppled and lying flat beneath me.
"Kill every single one of them and leave no trace." I said commanding all the gang members.
"UNDERSTOOD!" They replied before charging in.
I looked up and saw Laoxin on the third, smirking as he gulped down a glass of whisky he was holding then dropped it down to the ground floor. All of that was to tell me he will bring down the Dracula Empire. I gave him a crooked grin then charged forward, weaving side to side, dodging bullets with swift, precise movements as I closed the distance. The moment I got through the enemy's line, I leaped toward the third floor with effortless agility.
