Chapter 1 - Threads of Fate

In the beginning; The All-Maker wove unto the cosmos the tapestry of fate; an infinite web of souls that connected all living things through every world within the infinite universes that made up the tapestry. The All-Maker began his weave from his very own heart, The Nexus of Fate. All of fate's threads convalesced within the Nexus, And so to protect his heart, The All-Maker created the first Celestials; Beings of immense Soul-Energy, or Aura. The All-Maker Created two, And bid them guard the Nexus; The male, a living star, He named Solbraxis. While the female, A living planet, He named Lydia. For a long age, Solbraxis and Lydia completed their duty without incident. But over time, They grew closer to one another, and eventually fell in love and bore a child. A daughter, who they named Lycos. The All-Maker learned of this, And furiously rebuked the pair, As too much Aura within the world could overwhelm and sever the Nexus itself. To remedy the presence of Lycos's Aura, The All-Maker put her into an eternal sleep, And forbid Solbraxis and Lydia from seeing one another again. Heartbroken, Lydia attempted to form the shell Lycos would need to protect herself, as she was not awake to do so herself. But Lycos was much Larger and more powerful than her mother, And so Lydia created the first organic beings to help her in creating Lycos's shell; The Fae. With their help, Lydia was able to form a Planetary shell around the sleeping Lycos, and as a reward for their effort, Lydia bestowed upon them the right to live upon her daughter's surface. And for them, she created Lakes and streams, forests and great deserts, and many plants and animals with which to inhabit them. And for an age, Lydia's loneliness was abated by watching her creations live their new lives. Eventually however, Solbraxis and Lydia found it too much to bear to seperate themselves, and During what the Fae now call the first eclipse, They bore another child, A male this time, who they named Lucius. A star like his father, Lucius was kept hidden from the All-Maker as Solbraxis hid his aura within his own. However as the boy grew, Like Lycos before him, He proved to be even more powerful than his parents, and soon, Solbraxis was unable to Hide his Aura, and the All-Maker appeared once more to Lydia and Solbraxis. This time, he did not offer eternal sleep, and instead intended on erasing Lucius from creation itself. But Lydia and Solbraxis begged their creator to spare their son, insisting they would pay any price for their transgression. So the All-Maker instead Inverted the flow of Lucius's Aura, causing it to pour back in on itself, so that it would not permeate the Nexus. A panicked Lucius could only watch in horror as his light dimmed, and then ceased altogether as a pulse of energy darkened the very world. Rather than a blazing star like his father, Lucius had become a living Singularity; a Black Hole. Overcome with Fury, Lucius attempted to attack the All-Maker, But was Ruthlessly and brutally subdued by Solbraxis, his own father. After the All-Maker's avatar left, Lucius fled from his parents, down into the core of Lycos's shell, to be with his sister. As part of the pact to spare their son, Solbraxis and Lydia were forbidden under threat of erasure to never meet again, save to defend the Nexus. And so Lydia became her own daughter's Moon, While Solbraxis maintained his life-giving light to the plants and animals upon Lycos's Surface. Lydia however, could not bear the loss of both of her children, And while the Fae were pleasant companions, they were immortal, and too few in number. So Lydia created for herself a multitude of lesser beings, who were mortal and had limited lives, but who's aura was small enough that she could create many. These beings knew her as their creator, and called themselves Lycans in her honor. The children of the moon, the Lycans, were a tall and wiry race, with long black hair, light skin, and sharp golden eyes, their apposable ears were pointed and yet not near so long as the Fae's. They were quick learners and superior hunters, So their society progressed quickly. As Lydia watched over them, through their generations, Lucius burned with envy and unresolved rage. The Lycans had barely begun building their first organized cities when Lucius, Taking upon himself the new name of Nyxus, Attacked them without warning. They fell by the tens of thousands, For mere mortals with stone spears could never hope to stand against a celestial god. Lydia pleaded for her son to cease his massacre, But her cries of protest were met with silence. She had grown to love the Lycans like her own children, And could not bear to see them being ruthlessly massacred. And so, desperate to save them, Lydia sacrificed Half of her own essence to bestow great power upon seven of the Lycan's greatest warriors. These Lycans became demi-gods in their own right, becoming leagues above what any mortal was capable of physically, and the massive amount of aura they were given enabled them to cast spells that could level entire armies. These seven Warriors became known as Arch-Lycans, marked by their distinct white hair, Silver eyes, and Sloping, gazelle-like horns, They had become something beyond mortal-kind. And with their help and that of the fae, after much bloodshed, The Lycan race was able to at last defeat Nyxus. Upon his Surrender, Lydia descended to the world, and using the remaining half of her strength, She bound Nyxus with a chain of Pure Aura, making him Near-Mortal, so that he could never commit such an atrocity again. Nyxus then fled back underground to his sister, while Lydia, having exhausted nearly all of her power, Returned to her shell to watch over her creations once more. Hundreds of years passed, and her seven champions safeguarded the Lycan race throughout it all. Keeping the peace between the growing kingdoms and realms of Lycanity. Eventually, feeling satisfied that the Lycans had developed enough to protect themselves, The seven Arch-Lycans, now known as the Seven Saints, relinquished their power back to Lydia, and returned to the earth. Ages passed once more, Famines would arise, diseases would run rampant, And Lycan conflicts would at time grow intense and involve numerous kingdoms or empires. In such times of trouble, Lydia would once more bestow power unto a Lycan, elevating them to the status of Arch-Lycan, and bestowing onto them the duty of resolving the conflict and safeguarding the Lycan race. Over time, this began to associate to Lycans that the Appearance of an Arch-Lycan meant a time of great hardship was imminent, and they began to be seen as ill-omens. Throughout history since the Seven Saints, there had only been one Arch-Lycan born at any time, Even during the Rift-Wars that saw the introduction of races from other worlds to Lycos. And yet in the current year 442 of the 4th Age, There is not one, but three living Arch-Lycans, all born within the last 40 years. Many people thus believe that something terrible is upon them, as the entire world holds it's breath to see what unfolds.
