After all, how could a truly complete King of Hell not also be the Lord of Hell?
However...
Yama had her own sense of pride. If she merely created a Hell using her God-King-level divine power, she could certainly succeed. She could then anchor this Hell to the Netherworld, thereby elevating herself to the status of the King of Hell.
But...
Yama was unwilling to take such a route. If she did, it would feel far too humiliating. She was the Princess of the Netherworld, raised from birth by her parents with high hopes. To end up taking such a simple path?
That was unacceptable to Yama. For her, such a thing was unthinkable. This was why she chose to grow steadily, step by step, until she had reached this point. Now that she had returned to the Japanese Pantheon · Mythical Great World, her goal was to create a true and monumental Hell.
With her endless divine power, Yama began to unleash a surge of energy that, in a short time, had already started to coalesce into a unified form.
At this moment, with the power of the Yellow Springs as a catalyst, the Hell that was unique to Yama had begun to take shape. But this was merely the beginning.
At this very moment...
The entire Mythical Great World began to stir. After all, Heaven, Earth, Sea, and Nether were the four essential realms in any Mythical Great World. Yet, for this particular Mythical Great World, there had only ever been Heaven, Earth, and Sea—never a true Nether.
Even though the Yellow Springs could be seen as a representative of the Nether, representation alone was not enough to truly be called the Nether.
Clearly...
With just a bit of thought, it became obvious that this was far from sufficient. For the Mythical Great World, the anticipation of a true Nether had been brewing for a long time.
Now...
Under Yama's guidance, the Nether was finally about to be born. At this moment, the entire Mythical Great World seemed to be brimming with excitement, eager to bring this new addition under its control.
However...
Something unexpected occurred at this critical juncture.
Yama, using her divine power, blocked the Mythical Great World's attempts to synchronize and take control. The divine power of the Netherworld surged from her body.
How absurd! The Hell I am creating—does this Mythical Great World think it can seize control of it?
That was absolutely impossible. By leveraging the divine power of the Netherworld, Yama ensured that the Hell she created would simultaneously belong to and remain independent of the Mythical Great World.
Simply put...
Her Hell was akin to a guest enjoying the host's food, drink, and hospitality. Yet, should danger arise, it would turn away without hesitation. That was the current relationship between the Hell Yama created and the Mythical Great World.
The problem, however, was...
Though the Mythical Great World was enraged and indignant, it could do nothing. The Netherworld's essence, bolstered by the roots and growth of the World Tree, was entirely equal in power to the Mythical Great World at a fundamental level.
For this reason...
No matter how furious the Mythical Great World became, it was utterly helpless. It couldn't change or influence the situation, rendering all efforts pointless. No matter what it wished to do, the outcome was already predetermined.
This was the crux of the issue.
For the Hell being created now, this was the reality. For the Mythical Great World, all it could do was howl in frustration, powerless to stop what was happening.
It was a stalemate.
To make matters worse, Yama had drawn upon the divine power of the Yellow Springs to construct her Hell, further exacerbating the Mythical Great World's frustration. It was as if Yama had borrowed money from the world to raise her own child, who then ate the world's food and drank its water, only to leave when it suited her. And there was nothing the Mythical Great World could do about it.
What could it do?
Clearly...
Anyone with even a basic understanding of the situation could see that the Mythical Great World was utterly helpless. Aside from frustration, it had no other options.
A no-win scenario.
Even the Creator God and Ancient Gods of the Japanese Pantheon · Mythical Great World noticed the disturbance, but there was nothing they could do to stop it. All they could do was watch helplessly.
The deed was already done.
How many hidden issues lay beneath all this?
Even with just a bit of thought, the gods could infer much of what was happening. But even so, there was nothing they could do.
Once again, the reason was simple: they could only watch, powerless to intervene. All efforts were meaningless at this point.
"Hu~~~"
Eris let out a deep breath. Watching as the Hell her princess was creating gradually took shape and rapidly approached completion, she smiled faintly.
Her most important task, apart from assisting her princess, was to channel the divine power of the Netherworld at critical moments.
After all...
Her princess was currently at a pivotal stage and didn't have the time to handle everything herself. Naturally, these matters fell to Eris.
In truth...
Everything had been planned from the very beginning.
Why had they initially come just to observe?
The reason was simple.
Even though everything had been meticulously planned, what if something unexpected occurred? Such possibilities always needed to be considered.
However...
What they hadn't anticipated was the change in the timeline. This was the most frustrating and unavoidable issue.
For this reason...
Addressing this situation was the highest priority. Without resolving it, the resulting chaos could spiral out of control.
This was the core of the matter. If it wasn't handled correctly, everything could collapse in an instant.
Thus...
The original plan had been to assess the situation here and make all the necessary preparations before taking action.
But...
As the saying goes, plans often fail to keep up with changes. This was an unavoidable truth. Given the sudden evolution of the Mythical Great World, there was no choice but to adapt and proceed immediately.
Leaving now?
Clearly...
That was out of the question. For this reason, the only option was to continue participating in the unfolding events. This was the most critical task.
There was no other choice.
Thus...
Eris began carrying out her assigned tasks according to the initial plan. And as it turned out, they succeeded. So long as nothing went wrong, everything would proceed smoothly.
In summary...
Everything had been prepared, and no problems had arisen. That was the best possible outcome.
"All in all," Eris murmured, "the most troublesome part is over. The rest is just a matter of steady progress. Thankfully, everything has gone according to plan. If something had gone wrong, it would have been truly troublesome."
Eris shook her head at the thought. Luckily, no issues had arisen, and that was the best result. Otherwise, any complications at this point would have been incredibly difficult to handle.
Why?
Because this opportunity was truly a one-time chance. If they failed on their first attempt, no amount of subsequent effort would make a difference. With that in mind, this endeavor had to succeed.
"Next..."
Eris glanced at her princess, who was in the midst of creating Hell, and whispered, "It's time to move on to the next step. However... I wonder if it will succeed."
Eris pondered for a moment before shaking her head. She knew that the upcoming task was the foundation of everything and also the most challenging part.
In short...
If they succeeded, everything would fall into place. But if they failed? That would spell real trouble.
For this reason, Eris was fully aware of the gravity of the situation.
Diligence.
Caution.
There could be no room for carelessness. Any lapse could lead to disaster, and that was something they couldn't afford.
After all...
The Netherworld's plan was extremely risky. If it succeeded, it would be a major triumph. If it failed, retreating as quickly as possible would be the best outcome.
Of course...
Only Eris needed to retreat. Yama, now the Hell King of this Mythical Great World, was already fully integrated into its framework. What more could Eris do for her at that point?
Clearly...
This was self-evident. No further clarification was needed. So long as they remained vigilant and did not slacken, everything would proceed as planned.
This was the core of the matter.
For Yama, there would be no issues. And for Eris, escaping the scene, if necessary, wouldn't pose a problem either.
Thus...
Everything was falling into a stable cycle, with no apparent problems in sight.
"Next..."
Eris began taking out various divine artifacts, preparing to embed them within the Yellow Springs.
Indeed.
For the Netherworld, the goal was not only to make their princess the true Hell King of this Mythical Great World but also to seize control of the Yellow Springs itself.
Heh heh~~~
If given the chance, they wouldn't just borrow; they'd take everything and leave nothing behind!
After all...
Gods were a greedy bunch. They were never satisfied, which made them truly terrifying. These beings were, without exception, driven by insatiable hunger for power and
resources.
Such was the nature of gods.
Heh heh~~~
This wasn't a joke—it was the reality of their existence.
Meanwhile...
Yama remained focused on constructing Hell.
Though the framework was already in place...
That was just the beginning. The interior still needed to be built, stabilized, and fleshed out.
Eighteen Levels of Hell!
This was the cornerstone of the entire system. Specifically, within this Mythical Great World, such a structure was almost a given.
Why?
There was no need to elaborate—it was self-evident. The influence of a certain mysterious nation had shaped the commonalities among many mythologies.
It wasn't surprising.
In contrast to the Netherworld, Hell offered many more divine offices and titles. These roles could nurture new gods, forming an integral part of the system.
Such gods might not be extraordinarily powerful, but for the Netherworld, they were of utmost importance.
They represented the emergence of a new divine hierarchy—a fully developed divine system of immense significance.
