"How are you, my princess? I hope you're being taken care of well by your nannies and you're being a good girl to them. Your father is now on the ship on the way to another city for business, and so far nothing is getting in my way. It should be because of your lucky charm! Dad is really thankful for that!
And as I promised, I will bring back home new toys from that city, if I find one. If not, I will buy you a lot of food.
I will keep this short, but I promise, I will send more letters once I'm free.
I love you, princess.
Your father, Ron."
Ron leaned back in his chair, reading the letter intently and trying to figure out if there were some words that could possibly give information or trace it back to him if it got shot down by someone not meant to read it. This is already the fourth time he has rewritten this and he felt like he was successful this time.
"Come here boy." He grabbed a pigeon caged in the back and opened up its small bag. Then, once the ink was dried on the paper, he rolled it up and put it inside the bag.
He fed it bread first before he opened the window on the cabin and freed it. The bird flapped its wings and quickly flew off. Just as he was about to close the window, he suddenly noticed another bird flying straight towards him. Who could possibly it be? Though, if the letter was directly towards him, then it must mean that it's an important one. He let the window open for a while before the new bird arrived with a letter on its feet. His eyes instantly flew wide open when he saw the six-dots symbol on its forehead.
Ron quickly grabbed the letter inside and rolled it open.
Fire Nation is planning to impose a blockade on this region with 20 warships. Head back to the port immediately and secure the products.
He's coming there to solve the situation.
Ron knew what the bolded He meant, and him coming here tells anyone how massive this situation is. 20 warships so suddenly? What is Fire Nation thinking by doing this? Everyone knows that they're the strongest nation in terms of military might, but they can't be this ignorant. Omashu is the second largest and strongest stronghold of the Earth Kingdom, and sending any amount of forces close to its proximity while they're spread thin is asking for a defeat.
He walked to the side and placed his mouth close to the communication tube, "Attention to the control room, give a signal to all ships to retreat back to the port. I repeat. Give a signal to all ships to retreat back to the port."
Immediately after, bells began ringing outside and he could hear people running.
"This will delay the weapon supply massively," Ron told himself, leaning back in his chair.
He cares for his nation despite his businesses, and with five ships carrying weapons meant to be for the western region's biggest city getting delayed, it will possibly weaken that frontline by a lot. It's also going to be bad for the business itself as this is the first time the delivery is getting delayed and it's going to affect their reputation.
Master Guan will remove this problem, but the location of Omashu is half a day away from the port, even with the ostrich-horse itself.
Just then, a loud explosion rocked his cabin. Ron immediately grabbed his sword hanging on the side and went to ask on the communication tube first, "What's going on there?!"
"Sir, a Fire Nation warship is spotted firing massive rocks towards us and hitting the first ship!" A panicked voice came from the control room.
"Why couldn't you spot it sooner?!" Ron shouted, leaving quickly and not waiting for the latter's reply.
–
"Fuck…" Ron muttered, seeing the destruction on the first ship. All the products there, gone. The ship is also gone, now sinking.
"Stop the ship and drop the ladders! Pull them fast!" He commanded everyone on the deck.
All of them quickly moved as he told them. Ron meanwhile moved to the edge where the massive scope is located and looked through it. On it, he could see three Fire Nation warships approaching them fast and ready to fire the second round of blazing rocks.
He removed his eyes from the scope and commanded, "If you don't see anyone below anymore, start the ship again!"
"Yes, sir!"
At that moment, a fast -moving object entered his sight and was moving towards the direction of the Fire Nation warships. Then again, and again. It was so fast that his clothes were swayed by the wind despite the height of it. Ron immediately went to look at his scope again. He saw three massive balls of rock heading towards the three warships. One ball hit a warship directly and exploded instantly, while the other two hit the water and the other ships shook violently. As if that wasn't enough, another set of five fast -moving balls arrived and this time, it hit all of them, which caused them to sink.
Ron didn't know any Earthbenders outside the Six Pillars who can do that. Even for them, that should be only possible for one man, the de facto head of the Six Pillars and his master, Guan. He quickly moved the scope to the direction where the rocks came from, a hill where the port was located. On top of it is a man in his early adulthood, standing on foot and unbothered as multiple rocks floated to his back, compressed themselves to tiny versions, and instantly flew off towards their designated targets.
Suddenly, he remembered that there were 20 warships in the letter and refocused the scope to the sea. Five more warships were coming but were immediately met with flying rocks which exploded every single one of them.
Ron didn't even know the smile creeping on his face as he watched his master work. In his eyes and mind, Guan became more like a living legend.
And he was just glad that he took that hand.
