Chapter 150 - Chapter 149

Kyoto.

- "You know, when I said 'prove your words', I was expecting something else, like a plastic bag," I said with a bored smile. "Do you really think one spear is enough?"

Those were my sincere and disappointing thoughts, because at that moment Cao Cao was jumping like a monkey on vines, dodging and fighting off an endless stream of golden chains. He couldn't even get close to me, because as soon as he did, he was immediately surrounded by chains, leaving him with no choice but to retreat.

However, I give him credit. The True Longinus gave him the ability to deflect attacks, which was extremely difficult for most creatures in principle. But during the time we were "fighting" each other, I managed to find out why the spear could still hurt me.

My assumptions were correct, because the Biblical God had indeed allowed this to happen, apparently so as not to give any signs of his return. After all, the True Longinus was directly connected to Him. Although, I think He wanted me to return the spear to Heaven, but that's not accurate.

- "Hey, are you listening?" I began with utter disappointment. "Maybe you need some backup? You know, HUMAN backup? I feel genuinely sorry watching your dubious attempts, and I want to help."

- "Say what you will. Your words will not shake my faith," Cao Cao said calmly, but with a clear note of hidden aggression and growing anger. "Balance Breaker: Chakravartin of the Polar Night."

The spear glowed white, and in the next moment, seven spheres flew out of it, surrounding Cao Cao's figure. They seemed to be fixed in the air, hovering behind him, and I began to watch them with interest.

- "Oh? Balance Breaker?" I smirked. "You know, it's not a good idea for a plastic bag to be near glowing or sharp objects. Usually, after that, the bag gets thrown in the trash because it loses its function and becomes USELESS."

- "Assaratana," Cao Cao said confidently, jumping back and bringing his spear closer to himself while the chains were still attacking him from my position, and in the next moment, I felt like I was about to be teleported.

Deciding that why not, I let it happen, and my body found itself practically pressed against Cao Cao, who, without wasting a second, turned and aimed his spear at my throat.

Using "Fortify" on my body, which made Cao Cao's movements extremely slow, I tilted my head to the side and smiled mockingly.

- "Did you really think that would work?" I asked, looking at Cao Cao's surprised and then annoyed expression. "You are so WEAK."

- "I'm not done yet," he gritted his teeth and teleported to the side, and the chains began to chase him again. "Maniratana."

The chains flying at him immediately changed course and rushed at me, but were safely blocked by a magic circle that appeared in front of me. Cao Cao didn't stop there and finally moved into close combat while I just stood there and completely removed the chains.

Each of his attacks was parried with a soft and smooth movement of my hand, as it appeared from the outside. But he continued to do this again and again, counting on my mistake and slowly losing hope, which was evident in his eyes.

- "I'd say you never even started. Under these circumstances, with me just standing here and you unable to even hit me, I doubt anything will change in the next couple hundred years. Are you really a hero?"

- "Hatthiratana," Cao Cao said, now almost unable to hide his anger.

Now there were six warrior-like creatures around me, armed with swords and spears. They joined Cao Cao, also trying to hurt me, but to no avail.

- "Well, while you're pretending to be a robber attacking a weak, defenseless MAN who isn't even trying to fight back, why don't we have a chat?" I asked, parrying another blow. "How's the weather? The night sky? Not bad, is it?"

- "You think this is a game? Humanity... No, the world needs heroes, it needs me to save it from the oppression and tyranny of supernatural beings. And you, like a little child, refuse to admit it," he said.

- "More like a circus, considering your position, but the world? You're partly right about that," I smiled and waved my hand slightly, causing a wave of force that threw Cao Cao back. "You see, on a global scale, the words of Shakespeare and Pushkin are one hundred percent true. All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players. It's just that some people understand this, while others are so convinced of their own destructive significance that they simply don't want to do the same."

I paused while Cao Cao recovered and changed his stance.

- "That's why you and even I are actors. And do you know what happens when an actor finishes his part or plays it too badly? He gets replaced. I could kill you right now, and it wouldn't take more than a second, but it's too early for that, and you're playing pretty well."

- "Acting?!" he asked indignantly, baring his teeth and gathering strength in his spear, which glowed slightly. "You think you know humanity better than I do? Just because you're stronger? You cozy up to the enemies of humanity, let them do whatever they want, and then you dare lecture me?! You're just ridiculous."

I rolled my eyes.

Given Cao Cao's character, he wouldn't have said all that and shown such emotion if he could have done anything to me. But since I was much stronger, more important, and more powerful than him, and he looked no more frightening than a koala compared to me, Cao Cao felt a certain envy and injustice towards himself. After all, in this case, I was the hero, not him. Heh.

He is very different from Kokabiel, Riser, and even Rizevim. They had a clear goal and didn't hide behind noble words, but simply did what they wanted to do. Cao Cao, on the other hand... he's just pathetic. I didn't even want to use Noble Phantasm on him.

- "You're right about that. I'm better than you. And if that's the case, why should I adapt to you, you cellophane bag?" I sneered, provoking genuine anger and rage. "Does that bother you? Too bad you can't do anything about it. Poor thing. Why don't you run away like you always do?"

- "Oh, the spear. The holy spear, piercing God. Devour the ideal of despotic power that slumbers within me and pierce the line between blessing and destruction. Proclaim your will and turn it into radiance," chanted Cao Cao, causing the spear to glow intensely.

- "Seriously? You want to use that thing on me?" I sneered. "Go ahead, though. I doubt you'll be able to do anything, though."

- "You'll regret this... A true idea."

And then there was a flash of light that threatened to blind me and illuminate everything around me. I felt the Will of the Biblical God, and it seemed to be asking me for permission, not Cao Cao. Well, if that's the case, then...

- "See, even His Will supports me..." Cao Cao began, then fell silent, frozen in place, because...

- "Hmm... It looks pretty tasteless, but it feels good in my hand," I muttered thoughtfully, turning the newly acquired item over in my hands. "Now that you've lost your toy, how much do you think you're worth, huh?"

Yeah. I took the True Longinus from him. When Cao Cao used the True Idea, the spear itself wanted to leave him and come into my hands. If he hadn't tried to use that thing against me, things might not have turned out this way, but Cao Cao believed in himself too much. After all, there is much more of the Will of the Biblical God in my rings than in a spear. Heh.

- "What... How..." he muttered in confusion, looking at the True Longinus in my hand. "You betrayed me... After everything..."

- "Cao Cao!" A battered Georg appeared beside him, with remnants of Rea-chan's attack mana on his clothes. And when his gaze fell on the True Longinus in my hand, he froze just like Cao Cao. The latter's eyes dimmed and his shoulders slumped, indicating that he really did not expect this. "How is this possible...?"

- "As I said before. Your role is not yet over. Get out of here," I said, waving my hand, and continued to examine the spear.

Cao Cao said nothing, or rather, he couldn't, and Georg formed a mist around them with his Sacred Gear, after which they disappeared, leaving their allies behind. I shrugged and turned around to see demons standing at the edge of the crater watching what was happening, as well as an old man who looked like a monkey and was dressed in Chinese monk's robes.

- "Sun Wukong, I presume?"
