Alric stood slowly. "Did he say why?"
The man nodded. "He said that she is the easiest target that could not bring war but enough to start the sparks."
That froze Alric in his place. His eyes narrowed and the temperature froze around him. Max noticed the chance and stopped. He looked at Alric with concern.
"Now that you know, I am sure you understand why I did not come to you. If not for me, the girl would have died. I did not only give her my phone to contact you a lot, but I also lied to my team about her whereabouts. Or they would have killed her long ago." Alric closed his eyes and took a long shaky breath. He didn't respond in words. He simply nodded once.
