Chapter 124 - Pain

Destiny's POV

"You don't need to drive me to the shop, Red," I said, trying to sound casual, though the warmth of his hand still lingered on my waist.

He shook his head, that familiar stubborn glint flashing in his eyes. "I want to," he said simply, tugging me closer until I could feel the steady beat of his heart against my chest. My breath caught. He always did that—pulled me in like gravity itself had chosen him.

"Besides," he added with a grin, "I want to say hi to Lela."

Before I could argue, his fingers slipped around mine, firm and sure, guiding me toward the door. The salty air from the shore met us as soon as we stepped outside, warm and light against my skin. Just before I reached the car, Red leaned down and kissed me softly—one of those unhurried kisses that left the world spinning for a second too long.

By the time I walked into the shop, Lela was already grinning from behind the counter, eyes sparkling with mischief.
