Then it hit him like a wall was crumbling before him. He had lost the purpose of awakening a 100% functional brain. He forgot that the reason that he even spent the 2000 points was because he needed to be able to split his mind severally.
But in the process, an 'accident' occurred and somehow he managed to awaken a system he never planned having from the beginning. He can say that his life took a twist when he discovered Sarah.
When the system awakened, he lost his purpose of awakening a 100% brain. After all, why use your brain when you can already have the system do all the calculations for you? This was how he was limiting himself in the first place.
Since he got the system, he was able to even increase his split minds to 16 times but so what if he could do so? It was useless since he had the system and he never got the chance to use them. He chuckled at that as he braced himself. The first thing he needed was to try activate his split mind.
One could ask why he decided to start there but his reasoning was simple. Ever since he got the system, he became lost. So he had to pick up from where he was lost and start afresh from there.
It was not that he was abandoning his experiences. He had them engraved in his heart but he had to start over from where he was lost so that he could catch up. Also, there was another reason.
There was no way he was going to be able to focus on every change in his body efficiently with only one mind. Having several minds working together towards a single goal was very thoughtful for there were few chances of him missing out on something important.
He closed his eyes as he began splitting his mind. It started two ways and he used them separately each focusing on each hemisphere of the brain.
He maintained this position for a few minutes before he was sure that the two were working in coordination and that they understood each other. But he suddenly realized one flaw though.
Since he had two minds thinking independently, how was he going to know what was happening. He realized the need for a single part where all the acquired information was going to be sent to.
This led to him requiring a central unit in his brain that was going to work separately from all the split minds. Also, it was going to be connected with each of them such that every new finding or calculation a split mind had, it was going to sent to the central unit.
He was going to call it the Central Unit. This was where all his thoughts were going to be processed. It required it to be much stronger and assigned a larger portion of his brain so that it would be able to deal with the influx of information it was going to receive.
He did so quickly as he split his mind again to double the number. He focused on each and he made the four split minds send their impulses to the central unit. He did this to confirm whether his theory was correct and whether his understanding of the technique was up to what was written.
He realized that some parts were not exactly as he had read and these were just his modifications. He was surprised that he was able to make changes on the technique and still have the same effect.
He continued to let his mind split and it finally reached 16 ways. He could feel all the impulses being sent to him which showed that everything was working out as it should. But he came to a sad conclusion.
He felt his brain getting sloppy after splitting his mind 16 ways. This was going to prove to be a difficult technique then. He recalled a term that the technique further spoke about after he was able to awaken his brain.
The technique required someone with a strong Mental Energy for him to be able to use it properly. This came as a blow to Alaric but he did not give up on it. The fact that he could split his mind 16 ways was a testament of his strong Mental Energy at his age.
At this moment, he would have asked Sarah how he could increase his Mental Energy but j6e could only sigh. It appeared that he had grown too dependent on Sarah that he lost his capacity to rely on his brain.
It was not like the Mental Energy he had was depleted. He had just felt that he was getting tired. But he could not help but wonder. His ability to increase his split minds, when did it increase?
Alaric decided to test the efficiency of the technique. He sent instructions to each of the 16 minds and had them go through his memory. He needed to know how it was he was able to increase his split minds.
It was more efficient than he had expected. It took less than a second for him to get the processed information sent to his Central Unit. He was even more shocked by the next findings. He could not believe that it had happened in a second.
First thing that he had found out was that his split mind reached 16 way when he awakened his Soul. This was a minor detail and one could think that it was not as important but what shocked him more was when he realized that he could split his mind 32 ways after he had his soul reach the Supreme Plane!
It would appear as a less important detail at first but the second part was what brought a new light to him as all his split minds came to the same conclusion. That all these major breakthroughs had come with his Soul.
This still was not enough for he knew that he could not use the Soul power to replenish his brain. Just what was it that had happened that made him able to split his mind twice after awakening his Soul and twice again after his Soul reached the Supreme Plane?
This question, he sent it to the split minds so they could think independently and for a few seconds as he contemplated on his own, it did not take long before he was bombarded with information from the other minds.
There were two thoughts that he came to a conclusion. One was that it was either the Soul had a unique abilty that could help the brain split several ways. This was highly possible because the Soul after all, he had not been able to deduce much about it.
Also, he recalled when he had learnt the purpose of split mind technique. Wasn't it to make it easy for him to create arrays? What was the easiest way to create arrays? Wasn't it the Soul?
What if the reason the mind was able to split more times was because the Soul strengthened it? Was that not a logical answer. He would not have the conclusion had he not had several monds working on the problem.
The second was something he came to realization after a having the first one. Mental Energy. Wasn't Mental Energy used for split minds? Wasn't it also used for arrays? Had he not stopped using the Mental Energy after he discovered the soul was able to create arrays more efficiently?
The second conclusion gave birth to two more conclusions. First was that it was either Mental Energy was the Soul. This was almost true as he thought about it. Sarah once said that it was the soul that was used for array and other branches like alchemy.
But not even once had she mentioned about Mental Energy. Wasn't Mental Energy still used for Alchemy? This could only mean that the Soul was also Mental Energy! But Alaric who had used both knew better than that. Which brought him to the second conclusion.
What if Mental Energy was derived from the Soul? A crack sounded in his brain and Alaric could not help but smile. It appeared he was going on the right path. What did he know abou the Soul? Wasn't the Soul locked away for no one to ever use it?
If the Soul was what was used for Array and also Alchemy, how were they able to carry out the two without the soul? Wasn't that through something else that was later established? Mental Energy!?
Was Mental Energy the Soul? Alaric could bet his life ten thousand times over that the answer was "No!" They were not and even of the energy, it was completely different. But they were able to perform the same function!
Since the Soul was used to do so, why was it that Mental Energy was able to do it though on a smaller scale than the Soul? Alaric could not hide the smile which was already turning to a grin at the moment he came to the conlusion...
