Her curiosity took over as she channelled her energy into the second array plate. What happened next left her stunned as she felt the heat from the second array plate dissipate.
Then the core glowed red as the mini-arrays glowed faintly blue for a split second. The faint blue glows all over the array plate then turned bright and the same happened for the first array plate.
The blue glowed in the same intensity and it came to her that the two array plates were connected. She could not help but wonder what the two were to be used for.
She studied the two objects in her hands and she did not find any use they had. She even tried listening to them but there was nothing. She could not ask so she could not distract Alaric who appeared too engrossed in his work.
Alaric glanced at her once when she channelled her energy into the array plate and he could not help but feel displeased at her, though he did not show it.
She then channelled energy into the second array plate and he felt even more displeased. Not in a bad way though. It was her curiosity and smart mind that made him feel displeased. She was good at figuring things out such that there would probably be no suspense when he explained to her its use.
Maybe she would have discovered its use by then. He could only keep up a serious expression but he was already distracted in his thoughts for she sure was going to be good in arrays that she could probably surpass him one day.
Once again, he glanced at her as she raised one to her ears and Alaric almost raised his hand to stop her from figuring out its use but he restrained himself and busied himself with the task at hand. Luckily, she did not figure out what he was making.
He finished the third array plate and he suggested they go complete the rest of the remaining tasks in the dorms which she agreed to and they left the warehouse under the curious scrutiny of the guard who had a knowing smile. 'The kid really is strong and healthy.' The guard thought as he watched them leave.
They went back to Alaric's room and she sat at the bed while he sat at the table. He placed the remaining piece of wood on the side and the two pieces in front of him on the table.
Aurora now had three array plates which appeared to be glowing in the same manner with many blue glows and a red glow at the center. As for the other parts, they released a golden glow.
She did not know when she fell asleep but when she woke up, it was already morning and Alaric was still seated at the study table with the five array plates on the table.
Two were together on each other while the rest were next to them.
"Good morning," he greeted when he felt her stir awake.
"Morning," she replied sleepily. She then looked at the white blanket covering her and she could only smile at his gesture of wanting to keep her warm. Only her head was not burried in the blanket.
"Come," he called her and she refused to wake up and just stared at him which caused him to raise a brow.
"I am still sleepy," she replied and closed her eyes.
Alaric almost shed tears. Could it be that she had colluded with an enemy to kill him? He could feel the presence of someone else keeping an eye at him since she came to his room. For the few seconds he had taken to cover her with the blanket, the killing intent he felt almost suffocated him.
This could only annoy him. One thing he did not like was when someone had a killing intentions towards him. Had the person not been more powerful than him, he would have already killed the other party.
The other reason being that the person was the general. He was here to protect Aurora but if he could not hide the killing intent, Alaric could only bid his time and let the general to enjoy while it lasts.

The headmaster could only shake his head as he watched the general's behaviour. He could only speak in a disappointed tone.
"Why are you overreacting?" He asked. The general glared at the headmaster.
"Overreacting?" He asked displeased.
"One may think that it is your lover or probably your daughter in that room," the headmaster jeered.
"I am here to protect her from any harm," the general said as a matter of factly.
"I see no enemy in the academy, all I see is an old man trying to keep a young girl away from her happiness. That, I can't let happen," the headmaster said in the same tone as the general who glared again.
"She slept on his bed, doesn't that alarm you?" The general asked and the headmaster offered him a pitiful look.
"You really are clueless and helpless. The princess just went through a traumatic experience and she probably won't have been able to sleep this night at all let alone be happy for sometime. Do you think that you would be able to keep her distracted from the events that happened?
"The boy you keep trying to hurt is the one who was able to keep her distracted and she was able to rest and sleep. Didn't she refuse to sleep under your persuasion? She fell asleep on her own with the kid by her side.
"It you can understand none of this, you do not deserve to talk about being here to protect her. She already feels safe in someone else's presence. Just let her be happy for a while," the headmaster ridiculed and the general was left speechless under his thoughtlessness. He really was behaving like a kid...
He nodded and decided not to focus on what they were doing and give them some privacy.

Alaric finally heaved when he felt the two spying eyes on him and the murderous intention directed towards him disappear. He looked at Aurora who probably had drifted back to sleep.
Alaric looked at her sleeping peacefully and sighed. She really needed rest after going through such trauma. He did not bother her and let her sleep peacefully without making any noise.
But all this was blown away when he heard banging on the door and she immediately sat up and pulled the blanket closer as though it was her shield. Part of it covering her face upto her eyes which she left uncovered.
Alaric was fuming with anger. Just when he thought that he should let her sleep, the good for nothing Reynolds out of nowhere came to ruin it all. He sprang on his feet as he dashed towards the door where the banging continued.
Alsric opened the door and Rey who was banging the door missed and his palm landed on Alaric's head. There was deathly silence as his hand remained unmoving on Alaric's head.
Alaric was already annoyed but Rey had to go further and make him even angrier by laying his hand on him. Rey who was smiling was shocked as his smile disappeared from his face and his expression turned to that of horror.
He knew that he was gone when he saw the look on Alaric. Rey did not dare break the eye contact with Alaric or he would die even before he knew it. His mind was working on overdrive trying to figure out how to get out of his current predicament.
"Who is it? Do you know them?" Came a female voice from inside the the room to which they both recognized. Alaric could only curse and Rey was overwhelmed with joy when he heard the voice.
His survival instinct kicked in and he knew that the safest place he would be was in the room, next to the owner of the voice. If he decided to run away, he would have the worst time in his life.
How he slipped past Alaric, neither he nor Alric himself could tell as Rey dashed into the room and opened the second door that led to Alaric's room. The door slammed open and he quickly took a quick glance at the one on the bed seated leaning on the headrest her legs folded and the blanket hiding half her face.
When Aurora heard the banging on the door, she was alerted and quickly woke up. She waited for Alaric who angrily went to check who it was and she inquired about their identity.
She was alerted by the commotion in the other room and suddenly the door to the room slammed open and to her surprise came a guy who appeared to be running for his life. As though a wild beast was chasing after him.
She could not help but smile and at the same time get irritated by Rey. She could tell that she could have fallen asleep but Rey had ruined it all.
Rey just looked at her once and an evil though came to his mind and executed it immediately...
