Not wanting Mina to overhear, Xicheng lowered his voice, leaning a bit closer to Xia Nuan so she could hear him clearly.
As he spoke, his breath brushed against the loose strands of hair beside Xia Nuan's ear—she had tied up her long hair for convenience in holding her son, but the fine strands by her ear couldn't be tied up.
The short hair fluttered lightly across her ear, wrapped in the man's warm breath, sending a shiver through her which made her hair stand on end to the point that she didn't quite catch what Xicheng said, and instinctively turned her face slightly to the side.
"Mr. Xicheng?"
In the kitchen, Mina didn't hear Xicheng respond and stepped out of the dining room.
Hearing her voice, Xicheng quickly straightened up just as Xia Nuan turned her face to the side.
In an inadvertent coincidence, his lips brushed past her cheek.
