Chapter 858 - Chapter 858: Infinite Resurrection

After cursing out Carol Danvers, William, who was sitting behind Nissa as she played mahjong on his behalf, put on his smart glasses and quickly locked onto the teleportation coordinates via Carol's phone.

A golden, glowing portal appeared in front of Carol, accompanied by the sound of whirring rotors coming from within.

Just as she was wondering what was happening, forty unmanned aerial carriers flew out of the portal. From these carriers, 480 Black Blade drones activated one after another, leaving the carriers and ascending into the sky.

Following them, forty triangular-winged aircraft and over a hundred spherical floating probes dispersed in all directions, initiating a grid-based search for the mummy princess.

"…Isn't this basically cheating?"

Watching the spherical probes rolling along three meters above the ground at fifty meters per second, the Black Blade drones hovering at fifty meters, and the triangular aircraft soaring even higher, Carol couldn't help but feel that William's use of advanced technology and overwhelming numbers against an ancient relic buried for thousands of years was indeed a bit unfair.

However, after despising William for a moment, she found herself feeling relieved. Smirking, she casually fired several energy blasts from her hands, obliterating the newly awakened, stumbling mummies.

Then Sunday's report came through her earpiece:

"We have located the mummy's footprints. Based on the direction of movement, Her Highness the Princess is heading toward the town one kilometer away."

Silently praying that there had been no civilian casualties yet, Carol glanced at the five disintegrated mummies that had turned to dust, then accelerated toward the town.

Hovering a hundred meters in the air, she scanned the town below, watching the swarm of probes searching for the mummy.

For once, Carol felt grateful—without these drones, finding a creature adept at hiding in the darkness, especially at this time of night, would have been a real challenge.

Otherwise, she wouldn't have even considered her earlier plan of following the newborn mummies.

Sure enough, moments later, a few flashes of light appeared at the town's outskirts before vanishing quickly.

"Ms. Danvers, one of the spherical probes has lost signal, likely destroyed."

"I see it."

Carol immediately surged forward, reaching the town's edge and spotting the mummy princess, now fully restored to human form.

"I am Ahmanet, the great Pharaoh of Egypt. Mortal, I grant you the chance to submit to me. When the great god of death, Set, rules this world, you shall—"

"Ugh, shut up."

Carol had no interest in hearing the mummy princess's nonsense. Raising her hand, she fired a dazzling energy beam straight at Ahmanet.

"Roar!"

Ahmanet, enraged by Carol's utter disregard for her, opened her mouth and unleashed a sandstorm to counter the energy blast.

Unfortunately, things did not go as she expected—the energy beam easily tore through the sandstorm and struck Ahmanet's chest, instantly vaporizing half of her torso.

"How… how is this possible?!"

Ahmanet stared in disbelief at her ruined chest. In her mind, now that she had been resurrected, defeating mere mortals should have been a trivial task.

Yet now, she had barely encountered one woman and was already suffering a crushing defeat.

Carol, of course, wasn't going to waste this golden opportunity. Seizing the moment while Ahmanet was stunned, she shot down from the sky, her entire body radiating brilliant light, and slammed into the recovering mummy.

This was the same move that had previously obliterated a Kree warship. Against a mere mummy, the outcome was predictable.

With a thunderous BOOM, Ahmanet's body was completely blown apart.

Hovering back in the air, Carol smirked as she looked down at the scattered remains of the mummy. Raising an eyebrow, she sneered,

"I don't get why that coward William Devonshire was so afraid of this weakling."

Unfortunately, she celebrated too soon.

A chilling gust of wind swept along the ground, and the shattered mummy disintegrated into sand, swirling together to reform Ahmanet.

"Mortal, you have offended the great god of death, Set."

Carol rolled her eyes. With another burst of speed, she slammed into Ahmanet again, blasting her apart once more.

Yet, within ten seconds, another eerie gust blew through, and Ahmanet reassembled herself from the sand.

"Damn it! I thought Set was just the god of darkness and the desert. Why won't this thing stay dead?"

Frustrated, Carol suddenly remembered William's advice—burn the mummy.

Lowering her altitude, she summoned energy blasts in both hands, preparing to incinerate Ahmanet.

This time, as Ahmanet was engulfed in energy, she didn't recover as effortlessly as before. Instead, she let out an agonized wail, her body gradually charring.

"Stop! Mortal, stop!"

Hearing her desperate plea only confirmed that this method was working.

Carol grinned and increased the intensity of her energy output. Within moments, the entire battlefield was bathed in a cocoon of searing light.

"No—!"

Ahmanet shrieked as her curled-up body ignited. Before she completely turned to ash, she uttered something in ancient Egyptian, then crumbled into nothingness.

"Finally got rid of that freak. No wonder that coward William Devonshire didn't dare show up."

"I'm very sorry, Ms. Danvers, but the situation may not be as simple as you think," Sunday interjected, once again acting as the bearer of bad news.

"Before she turned to ash, Princess Ahmanet uttered a phrase in ancient Egyptian.

Based on probe scans, I have detected dozens of undead emerging within the town. Rather than outright killing civilians, they are draining their life force."

As Sunday finished speaking, several green orbs of energy materialized within the town and shot toward Ahmanet's ashes, one after another.

"Damn it."

Hearing that civilians were being harmed, Carol furiously barked into her earpiece,

"Tell that bastard William Devonshire that if he doesn't get his ass over here to help, I swear I'll hunt him down and beat him up every single day for the rest of his life!"

"Understood, Ms. Danvers. The message has been forwarded to Mr. Devonshire."

As Carol unleashed another energy blast at the reforming Ahmanet, William, who was casually watching a mahjong game at home, smirked and covered his earpiece, instructing Sunday,

"Mobilize the Kingsman emergency response team. It's about time they earned their keep after all these years."

"Understood, sir. Orders have been issued."

At the Kingsman Academy on the outskirts of London, emergency alarms blared as operatives, some of whom had been asleep, immediately jumped out of bed and rushed to their designated stations.

Within three minutes, thirty-six fully armed emergency response agents, clad in Devonshire Mark II enhanced suits, had assembled in the hangar, preparing to board helicopters.

But before they could, two aircraft—bearing an uncanny resemblance to spaceships—descended into the hangar.

Though momentarily stunned, the agents quickly followed Sunday's instructions, boarding the spacecraft and heading toward the town over a hundred kilometers away.
