Chapter 610 - Chapter 610: A Record-Breaking Drive Distance (Bonus Chapter 2)

"No, no, that's impossible," Charles muttered, forcing himself to calm down. After a moment's thought, he shook his head. "The dagger is at least fifteen centimeters long. With Susie's build, there's no way she could have stabbed it fully into Marco's chest in one go."

"You still love her," William said, ignoring whether Susie was truly the murderer. He gave Charles a peculiar look, amused by his efforts to defend her. "Buddy, do you have a masochistic streak? If that's the case, you really need to see a therapist."

"F*** your therapist! If you're suspecting Susie, that means you're suspecting me too. Damn it, don't think I don't know—anyone you target never ends up well."

"Haha, seems like your uncle holds you in high regard, huh? He's even told you about these things," William said, narrowing his eyes at Charles. Under William's sharp gaze, Charles quickly became uncomfortable, his voice trembling as he stammered, "William, trust me, I did wish Marco would have an accident, but not yesterday.

"Before boarding the yacht yesterday, my plan was just to disrupt Marco's first family meeting after his honeymoon.

"But before I could do anything, Marco dismissed everyone unrelated—like the captain and the staff—from the yacht's hall. Then, he began spewing nonsense, mocking all of us with inheritance rights, calling us parasites, leeches, and failures.

"Finally, right in front of us, he announced that he was going to strip us all of our inheritance rights. I was so furious at the time I could barely think straight. Sure, I was wishing for his death in my head, but I swear I didn't kill him."

Charles, in his panic, admitted that he had wished for Marco's death, which made William pause for a moment. Strangely, he found himself starting to believe Charles. Smiling slyly, William teased, "So you're so eager to clear your name that you're not even worried about your beloved ex-girlfriend anymore?"

"Beloved, my ass! I stopped loving her a long time ago. If it weren't for fear of you suspecting me, I wouldn't care one bit about what happens to her."

"You're truly cold-hearted, Charles. But I like it," William said with a grin. "Because, like your uncle, I can't stand people from Japan. Got it?"

Charles nodded hurriedly as William lightly patted his shoulder. "Got it."

"Here's what you're going to do: find someone to collect DNA samples from Marco and Toby's hair. I need to confirm whether the dead body is really Marco."

"What do you mean?" Charles asked, his voice filled with dread. "Oh my God, you think the dead body is Marco's double? How is that possible?"

"Idiot," William snapped, glaring at him. "If Marco could have an illegitimate daughter like Grace Ballard, don't you think he could also have other illegitimate children?

"What if he deliberately set all of you up to kill each other? Once you're all dead or imprisoned, wouldn't his entire fortune naturally go to his illegitimate child?"

"That's impossible! We're his family—or people who've saved his life. How could he be so ruthless?" Charles stammered, visibly shaken.

"Whether it's possible or not depends on the DNA results. If the dead body is Marco, then everything's straightforward. But if it's not Marco..." William's voice trailed off, a sly grin forming on his lips. "Well, then things are going to get very interesting."

Seeing Charles sink into panic, William waved him off. "Alright, you can go now."

"Got it. I'll look into it right away," Charles said before leaving in a hurry.

After Charles left, William played a few more shots alone. Then, glancing at the beautiful coach nearby, a mischievous idea came to mind. He proposed a little game: every time he lost a shot, he'd pay her $10,000. But if she lost, she'd owe him one hour of her time for each lost shot.

The coach, a stunning mixed-race beauty named Elena with desert-like features and an exotic charm, blew William a flirtatious kiss, clearly excited by the offer.

Unfortunately for her, things didn't turn out the way she'd hoped. From the very first shot, it became increasingly clear that William wasn't as amateur as he appeared.

On a course where the tee box was about 100 yards from the green, her scores were competitive with William's. But once the distance increased to 200 yards or more, William's exceptional physical abilities—ten times greater than an average human—allowed him to reach the green in just one shot.

How could she possibly compete?

Adding to her frustration, William didn't even need to use his mental powers to control the ball during putting. By simply scanning the ball's path with his mind, he consistently made precise shots, sinking even those three or four meters away.

By the seventh hole, Elena was already six shots behind William.

Watching William make yet another incredible drive, landing the ball near the green from a ridiculously long distance, Elena held her forehead and stared at the ball's landing spot in disbelief. "Was that a 400-yard drive?"

"No," said one of the caddies, shielding his eyes from the sun with his hand as he squinted at the ball. After a few seconds, he exclaimed excitedly, "I think it's at least 430 yards! The distance from this tee box to the green is 472 yards."

"416 yards," William calmly corrected as Sunday reported the exact distance through his earpiece.

Shaking his head, William still wasn't satisfied with the shot. Though he had only used 50% of his strength, he felt he could do better. Motioning to the caddie for another ball, he placed it on the tee box, preparing for another shot.

The caddie interjected, "Sir, I think your hip rotation wasn't sufficient when you exerted force."

William, eager to learn what he didn't know, took the advice seriously. Practicing his swings without the ball, he made about ten attempts, each time listening to Sunday's feedback until his movements became increasingly refined.

Soon, he found the perfect way to generate power, leaving both caddies and Elena slack-jawed in amazement.

"My God, what kind of monster is he?" Elena whispered to one of the caddies.

"That's what you'd call someone who's more than a genius—a child of God himself," the caddie replied with a shrug. Then, fearing William might overhear their private conversation, he quickly added flatteringly, "Come on, don't be envious. People like Mr. Devonshire exist to remind ordinary folks like us of our place."

Finally, William adjusted his stance and swung his club with a clean, powerful motion. The ball soared straight toward the green, bounced a few times, and then rolled directly into the hole.

The caddie stood frozen for several seconds before muttering in disbelief, "Bloody hell."

"Does that break our course's driving distance record?" another caddie asked, watching William stroll toward the green in high spirits.

"Nope," the older caddie replied wistfully. "470 yards already qualifies as a record for open courses. Elena, darling, it looks like you're in for a wonderful evening."

Elena didn't even bother taking her next shot. With a 472-yard hole, she'd need at least three strokes to reach the green, making victory impossible. Everyone, including William, understood this, so no one pressed her to continue.

As the group walked together, Elena whispered to the caddies, "I just wanted to fleece a rich guy for some money to pay off my mortgage."

"My God, are you joking?" one of the caddies replied, shaking his head. "Your date's William Devonshire! If he finds you amusing, your little house will be nothing to him. Besides, you're single—what's the harm?"
