Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: Beneath the Image of Power

In the midst of the long period of battle, Creo was making his way in the battlefield as he and other Elderithian soldiers were battling Eldenmorian soldiers in the past few days.

But one day, he would come across someone who would become one of his important allies.

As he headed off into battle, he was suddenly approached by a group of Eldenmorian warriors. He was getting ready to pull out his sword- but then, something unexpected happened.

"Looks like you could use some help there, brave warrior..." A female voice said as she approached him after slaying one of the enemy soldiers.

The woman had dark, short red hair, and she had heterochromia eyes, with her left eye being blue and her right eye having a yellow hue. She wore protective armor and had the emblem of the Elderithian army. She approached him slowly, her eyes never looking away from his.

"Allow me to introduce myself to you, brave warrior. My name is Athena Ardenvain, but you can call me Athena." Athena smiled at him, her eyes were filled with excitement.

Athena tried to lighten up the mood and continued. "If you don't mind me asking, what's your name?" She asked Creo, waiting for his response.

"My name is Creo Creatorius, but you can call me Creo. Some also know me by my epithet, the Creator then again nice meeting you Athena." Creo said as he reached out his hand towards Athena as he deflected an attack from an enemy.

He proceeded to use his Create ability and launched a haldberd towards the soldier and he turned to face Athena, resuming their conversation.

"No way! You're the child of the prophecy, right? I've heard tales about you from the elders, I'm so glad to finally meet you." Athena said, her eyes widened in shock as she was excited to meet the child of prophecy.

"Yeah that's right, I'm the legendary "child of the prophecy" destined to liberate the kingdom from its despair. Creo sighed sarcastically after slashing an enemy.

"Good talk, then "Child of the Prophecy". Don't mind if I help you out then." Athena smirked as she used her fire powers to burn the enemy who was about to attack Creo from behind.

Creo was surprised and was dazzled by her ability, he slowly calmed down and replied. "I guess I can use all the help that I could need." He smiled as he slashed an enemy who was about to hit Athena.

After they defeated a party of Eldenmorian soldiers, the two started walking and started engaging in more conversations.

"Not going to lie, I wasn't expecting a young boy like you to be out here in the middle of a battlefield that is engulfed in flames and bodies around the ground." Athena snickered, playfully nudging Creo's arm.

"Well aren't you also a young lady in an age not suitable for war, so I guess we're technically here for our own different reasons don't we, miss?" Creo smirked, a mischievous smile on his face.

Athena chuckled and sighed. "Fine fine, you got me, I do in fact have a reason, I'm fighting in this war because my parents were kidnapped by these Eldenmorian soldiers so I have a reason to fight them..." Her expression darkened, her face was serious as she stopped midway, she felt like she was about to tear up.

Creo noticed this and felt bad for asking as he put his hand on her shoulder. "I'm so sorry to hear about that, I didn't realize how much you've gone through..."

Athena looked up at him, tears still flowing from her eyes, smiling a little and said. "It's fine, it was just a question that was on your mind..."

"Don't worry, when this is all over, I'll help you be reunited with your family." He smiled at her, giving her reassurance in the darkest times.

"Really? You mean it?" Her tears slowly stopped, she looked at him with adoration and excitement as she pulled him closer for a hug.

Creo was taken aback by that moment, he never expected to be hugged by a girl before, it was a new feeling to him, so he hugged her back gently.

She pulled away and shrugged herself, looking away "I'm sorry if I was feeling emotional, I was just feeling excited to think that I would have someone who would do that for me."

Creo smiled and said. "It's ok, I'm here to help you for as much as I can because you're my friend now and that's what friends would do."

At that moment, the two of them worked in perfect tandem and later on, the two became the best of friends in just a short time during the war.

"Can I just say that I've gotten fascinated by the way you use your abilities in battle..." Creo said while walking with Athena.

Athena laughed a little, she looked at him teasingly and replied. "Oh my, are you always this smooth in talking with girls little guy~"

Creo rolled his eyes and scoffed. "First of all, I'm not little and second of all, I'm just being honest with you."

"I see, although I do appreciate your charms, I'm afraid you're a little too young for me...and besides we both clearly have a lot on our plates..." Athena said, continuing to talk and enjoying the moment.

But as soon as they could finish their conversation, Odopholis arrived with his group of his soldiers, his face was filled with pride as he stepped down from his horse and drew out his sword.

"It's him...it's the man responsible for all of the people's suffering, the leader of the Eldenmorian group who took over Elderith fifteen years ago- Officer Odopholis!" Athena said, she looked away in disgust and was filling up with anger.

"I see that my reputation has still been remembered after all these years- I'm quite surprised kids like you are out here in the middle of the battlefield but I can respect that..." Odopholis chuckled, gripping firmly to the handle of his blade, his expression remained calm and serious.

"So you're the man responsible for all of this, I'm surprised you would show up, I thought you'd be a coward and hide behind your troops." Creo snickered, trying to annoy Odopholis.

"You must be what those elders have been babbling about, the fabled Child of Prophecy who has come to overthrow me from terrorizing this sacred kingdom..." Odophilos chuckled, walking closer towards the two of them.

"I know that you have some power within you and I know that I might be at a disadvantage but who cares, I'm going to fight you like there's no tomorrow..." Odopholis said as he began to swing his blade towards Creo, his expression was deadpan and his eyes never leaving his target

Creo proceeded to activate his gauntlets and launched arrows towards Odopholis' direction, he simply blocked the arrows with his sword, he attempts to swiftly run towards him but Creo moves in a defensive position and blocks his sword at the last moment.

"You've got some good reflexes for a young amateur; but I still think you need a little more practice..." Odopholis smirked as he gave Creo a hard kick in the stomach, sending him knocking down on the ground.

Athena approached him angrily, her eyes were fuming with anger and she used her fire abilities to burn Odopholis into a crisp as she went to help Creo getting up.

But to their surprise, Odopholis emerged unscathed and without a single burnt mark on his body, showing terror on their face.

"Oh, I know both of you act surprised, I don't blame you, but ever since I've heard tales about the arrival of a boy who would come to save the day, I knew that I had to come prepared so for the last 15 years, I recruited clerics to formulate potions for me to use..." Odopholis smirked, shrugging off the dust from his uniform.

He drank another potion and he gained the ability of super speed for 3 minutes and knocked the two out in a mere matter of seconds.

"Too easy, come on men, stow away these two in the dungeon along with the other prisoners..." Odopholis said as he walked back towards his men in a commanding tone.

*Meanwhile in the dungeons*

A group of guards escorted the unconscious Creo and Athena and threw them in the dungeons, their bodies rolling on the ground.

An hour later, the two of them woke up, confused and unaware of their current situation as they notice that they have been put inside of a dungeon cell and their bodies feeling unwell.

"What happened earlier? How was he able to knock us down that easily?" Athena groaned, she struggled getting up, as she held her stomach, feeling unwell from the aftermath.

"He must have used some sort of speed potion to distract us and he probably did something to us to make us feel this uneasy feeling that we're experiencing..." Creo said, wincing in pain as he tried grabbing on to the wall.

"Creo? Is that you?!" A familiar voice called out from the opposite facing cell.

"I know that voice...Oskar? Is that you?" Creo called out.

"Yes, it's me! It seems Odopholis managed to get you as well.." Oskar sighed, his hands are restrained by handcuffs.

"What happened to you?" Creo asked, his eyes were filled with worry.

"Well like you Creo, I decided to fight for this kingdom, but sadly I encountered Odopholis before I could warn you, while you were busy fighting him earlier, I was experimented on by the clerics and they chained me here as prisoner.." Oskar sighed, he laid back against the wall, expressing defeat.

"I'm truly for sorry what had happened..." A female voice cried out.

Creo and Athena were startled and gotten curious and leaned in closer to listen and look at the mysterious person.

From the opposite cell, a woman with brown hair, olive eyes, wearing a hood over head and ragged and dusty clothes over her, her face was filled with dirt and was in her late teenage years.

"My name is Amara...I'm sorry to hear what happened, it's all my fault..." Amara looked down, she looked like she was about to cry as a small tear started to shed down to her cheek.

"Why? What more cruelty did that bastard do?" Athena asked, her expression began to turn serious, waiting for her to continue her story.

"I didn't mean for any of this happen, I was just minding my own business with my family but then, those Eldenmorian soldiers barged into our humble home, they took me by force and used me as their own captive..." Amara said, her voice was trembling a little.

"You see, my family was from Listmycan descent, we decided to visit some of our relatives who lived in Elderith; that madman Odopholis saw my potential and used me for his own means, I worked day and night, treated like a slave to make potions for his very own needs..." Amara sighed, her eyes looking away from them.

"So you didn't try fighting back?" Creo asked her, his tone was serious but he wanted to know the story behind it.

"That was my first thought...but- he threatened to do things with me...things that would have taken away my dignity, I could barely utilize my powers back then..." Amara stopped, she was feeling traumatic and started backing into the corner.

"Hey, it's alright...we won't judge, we're sorry to hear about that Amara...you didn't mean any of it, you were just a child back then..." Athena said, trying to comfort her with words of reassurance.

Amara slowly started moving away from the corner and approached them, a small smile on her face, feeling a little hope surging in her heart.

"On the sidenote, does any of you have any ideas on how long the effects will last?' Athena asked, she leaned against the wall.

"The effects will wear off tomorrow, but knowing Odopholis, he won't take a risk so any move we make, he'll have eyes on us, he'll send guards to watch our move...he really won't let a single thing slide..." Amara said, her eyes wandering and scanning the surroundings of the area.

"Then we better plan carefully, and I think I might have the perfect plan..." Creo said, his eyes lighting up with excitement.
