Chapter 897 - Chapter 897: Wei Yenwu (Part 1)

"Senior, do you know who she is?" Seeing Daniel Davis and Nian walking back together, Jingzhe immediately stepped forward and spoke to Daniel.

"Don't worry, I know exactly who she is. And this is actually a good thing for Yan, isn't it? Because I'll be taking her away from Yan."

For Yan, beings like Nian, who are fragments of a great beast, are a threat. If it were just Nian, Xi, and Ling, it might be manageable, but what they truly fear is the resurrection of Sui.

As for Nian and the others, they have also done a lot for Yan. For example, suppressing the demons in the north. Ling once suppressed them there for a hundred years. Although Nian never personally went to guard that area, she provided Yan with a significant amount of equipment.

Only Xi, being too timid, has always hidden in her paintings, staying out of worldly affairs. But for Yan, this is also a good thing.

In fact, even now, Nian's siblings are still on the front lines against the demons. Among Sui's twelve fragment avatars, Daniel knows the most about Nian, Xi, and Ling. Apart from the so-called "second brother," there is very little information about the others.

Under these circumstances, if Daniel takes Nian and the others away, even if Sui were to resurrect, their absence would significantly weaken its power.

Of course, if Daniel wants to take Nian, Ling, Xi, and the others away, he will need to negotiate with Yan's higher-ups. Otherwise, how could they feel at ease letting him take them? What if Daniel has the same intentions as Nian's "second brother," wanting to resurrect Sui and take its place? That would be a disaster for Yan.

This is different from Daniel's previous conversations with Nian. As a nation, Yan has to consider many more factors.

"Leaving Yan?" Daniel's words stunned Jingzhe. Although taking Nian away from Yan would be beneficial for the country, such a decision is clearly not something Jingzhe can make. So, in the next moment, Jingzhe immediately bid farewell.

After Jingzhe and the others left, W, FrostNova, and the rest put away their weapons. W then curiously looked at Nian. Due to Yan's geographical location, apart from a few mobile cities like Lungmen, people from other countries are not very familiar with Yan. The only thing they know is that Yan is a powerful nation.

"Who is this?" W asked curiously about Nian's identity. From the conversation between Daniel and Jingzhe, she knew that Nian's identity was anything but simple.

"I am Nian. Teekaz, it's been a long time." Looking at the horns on W's head, Nian's tone carried a hint of nostalgia.

"Teekaz, I haven't heard that term in a long time. Now we are called Sarkaz." As W spoke, her eyes shifted slightly, as if recalling something.

"Sarkaz? So, Kazdel still has no king."

"Exactly. Who are you? How do you know about Teekaz?" W couldn't help but ask.

The term "Teekaz" is something very few among the current Sarkaz would know. W only knew it because she had spent some time at Babel with Theresa.

"Have you been to Kazdel?" Daniel also became curious.

"I've been to many places, but now everything has changed."

As gods, their concept of time is completely different from humans. A human's lifetime is often shorter than the time they spend sleeping. As gods, they naturally have plenty of time to travel and see the world.

Even Xi, who has always hidden in her paintings, sometimes travels around to paint. Nian is no exception.

Similarly, the people and events they encounter along the way might disappear during a single rest period.

"This is FrostNova, Misha." After nodding, Daniel introduced FrostNova and the others to Nian. Nian then smiled and greeted them. As for FrostNova and the others being infected, Nian naturally didn't mind.

In this world, anyone can contract Oripathy, but Nian and her kind are the least likely to become infected. Even if they were to stay directly under a Catastrophe, it wouldn't affect them.

"Desperate infected, truly impressive. But it seems Old Wei hasn't deployed the Shadow Guards."

Soon, the group arrived at Lungmen's docking area. Normally, this place would be bustling with noise and activity, but now, explosions, roars, and screams intertwined.

Even with the protection of heavily armored comrades, the Lungmen Guard Department members were continuously pushed back by the attacks of Reunion's casters.

"With such power among the infected, why hasn't anyone thought of forming an infected army? Is it that they don't want to, or has someone tried and failed?"

The enhancement of Originium Arts in Oripathy patients means that Reunion has far more casters than the Lungmen Guard Department. With so many spells raining down, even the well-equipped Lungmen Guard Department can't hold out.

"At this point, Wei Yenwu probably isn't executing her plan anymore. So, this must be a tactic to lure the enemy in."

Watching as the Lungmen Guard Department retreated and Reunion forces charged into Lungmen, Daniel couldn't help but mutter to himself. On the surface, it seemed like Reunion had the upper hand, but Daniel knew about Wei Yenwu's trump card.

"This is quite troublesome." Seeing many Reunion members driven mad by the war, Daniel sighed softly.

"W, can you find Faust and the Crownslayer?"

"Leave it to me." With that, W leaped forward and headed towards Lungmen, where the passage had already been opened.

"Next, you all need to be careful. If things go south, retreat immediately and regroup here. Also, don't split up. Wei Yenwu might send the Shadow Guards after you." After W left, Daniel turned to FrostNova and the Yeti Squadron.

The Yeti Squadron's upcoming mission is crucial. The number of Reunion members they can evacuate from Lungmen depends on them. Reunion members won't listen to Daniel's commands.

They are also the most dangerous. Since Daniel has revealed Wei Yenwu's plans, the Shadow Guards' targets might now be the Reunion forces.

That's why Daniel didn't let the Yeti Squadron split up to gather Reunion members. The Yeti Squadron's overall combat strength is good, but if they split up, their power would significantly diminish.

"Let me give you some extra protection." As he spoke, Daniel formed hand seals and cast a golden light over FrostNova and each member of the Yeti Squadron.

"Don't worry too much. We've seen bigger scenes than this." One of the Yeti Squadron members, curiously pressing the light on his body, said with a smile.

This wasn't a lie. Although the Yeti Squadron members are quite young, they've experienced situations that normal people would never encounter in their lifetimes.

The Ursus infected mines are a true hell. To put it bluntly, the Yeti Squadron crawled out of that hell.

"Please don't forget what I said earlier. Lungmen's Shadow Guards are on par with Ursus's Imperial Guards. How many Imperial Guards can you handle?"

At these words, the Yeti Squadron immediately fell silent. They had indeed faced Ursus's Imperial Guards before. Even with FrostNova, they barely managed to hold off two Imperial Guards, with most of the pressure on FrostNova.

Of course, comparing the Imperial Guards and Shadow Guards in this way isn't entirely accurate, as their situations are quite different, involving issues of countering.

Ursus's Imperial Guards, due to their connection with demons, have a significant suppressive effect on those weaker than them or those who fear them. The Shadow Guards wouldn't give the Yeti Squadron that same feeling.

"Let's go meet the ruler of this city."

After parting ways with FrostNova and the Yeti Squadron, Daniel naturally had his own tasks to attend to. He needed to talk to Wei Yenwu. Some things are better discussed in person than over a communicator.

"It's quite chaotic, but as expected, the slums are largely ignored. When war breaks out, the first to leave are always the wealthiest."

Daniel and Nian stood on the roof of the tallest building in the slums, overlooking the chaos below. Many Reunion members had already charged in, with some even breaking into houses and dragging people out. If they were infected, it was one thing, but if not, the outcome was clear.

In contrast to the chaos in the slums, the street opposite the slums was empty except for the Lungmen Guard Department members.

"I wonder if Swire's 1.8 million dollar piano will survive this time."

The chaos below made Daniel think of the piano that ultimately wasn't saved. Hoshiguma had wanted to protect it, but Reunion's casters didn't care.

"Sigh, why bother?"

Originally, Daniel didn't plan to intervene in what the Reunion members were doing below. Such things happen too often. But when he saw Reunion members targeting children, he couldn't hold back anymore. With a wave of his right hand, an ornate sniper rifle appeared in his hand.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Four consecutive shots pierced the chests of the four Reunion members. Their sudden deaths startled the child, who quickly hid in a nearby house.

"Nice weapon." Nian looked curiously at the sniper rifle that had suddenly appeared in Daniel's hand. She took it from him, and without any visible action, the rifle melted and disappeared into the air.

"Huh, it's a creation." Nian looked surprised as the sniper rifle disappeared from her hand, but then an identical rifle appeared in her grasp.

"As expected of Nian. She's practically a god of forging and smelting."

Seeing the sniper rifle in Nian's hand, even if it was only superficially identical, was enough to astonish Daniel. Considering how, in Shangshu, the Grand Tutor had her forge the Twelve Towers and Five Cities, with three thousand mechanisms and a million terracotta soldiers, given enough materials and time, she could single-handedly supply an entire nation's equipment.

In this world, if Nian were brought to his Great Tang, she wouldn't even need a million soldiers—a hundred thousand would be enough to conquer the world.

"That's Kal'tsit. What is she doing here at this time? And that fog, it must be the Crownslayer's Originium Arts. I see."

Daniel didn't see Kal'tsit, but he saw her unique pet, a black crystalline creature with four claws, possibly an Originium lifeform.

Seeing Kal'tsit, Daniel immediately called Nian and headed towards her location. He was very curious about this so-called "omniscient" Kal'tsit. If paired with the "omnipotent" Doctor, wouldn't they be truly omniscient and omnipotent?

"Speaking of which, Mon3tr looks like an Originium lifeform. So why is Kal'tsit infected with Oripathy? And it doesn't seem to affect her at all. Is it because she's a long-lived being?"

There's no doubt that Kal'tsit is a long-lived being, and so is the Doctor. In fact, strictly speaking, the Doctor is much older than Kal'tsit, as there's a theory that the Doctor is from the previous civilization.

The current lifeforms on Terra emerged after the collapse of the previous civilization. But as for why the previous civilization collapsed, there are many speculations, though it's largely believed to be related to Originium.

Even with the development of the previous civilization, humanity was still wiped out by Originium. It's a reminder of how fragile humans are.

With these thoughts, Daniel and Nian quickly arrived at the location of the thick fog, though it had already begun to thin. They saw a girl in a red coat pinning a red-haired girl to the ground. Not far from them, Mon3tr was flailing its claws, and the red-haired girl was trembling, clearly terrified of Mon3tr.

This was understandable, as even Ursus's Imperial Guards were wary of Mon3tr.

"As expected, whether in the game or reality, the Crownslayer is always getting wrecked. That must be Projekt Red."

As Daniel and Nian approached, Mon3tr suddenly let out a loud roar and immediately returned to Kal'tsit's side, shielding her.

Projekt Red, holding the now unresisting red-haired girl, quickly moved aside.

"To think such a creature exists. Today is full of surprises." Seeing Mon3tr, Nian's eyes showed a hint of surprise. Even she was taken aback by Kal'tsit's pet.

"Mr. Daniel?" Kal'tsit walked over to Mon3tr and waved her hand to calm it as it hissed.

"Don't be surprised. Amiya showed me your photo. Are you here to see Governor Wei? I was just about to go see him as well." As if guessing Daniel's thoughts, Kal'tsit continued.

"Dr. Kal'tsit is truly impressive." Daniel smiled wryly. Whether Kal'tsit is omniscient or not, she is undoubtedly very intelligent.

"So, was Talulah being taken from Rhodes Island an act?"

With someone as capable as Kal'tsit, plus the Doctor, it seems too abrupt and unnatural for Talulah to have been so easily taken from Rhodes Island.

After all, that was the Rhodes Island landship. If intruders could so easily break in, what if they weren't there to rescue Talulah but to attack Rhodes Island?

With so many elite operators on Rhodes Island, only Blaze was on the ship at the time. That's too strange. Given that Kal'tsit experienced Theresa's assassination, even with all the internal complexities, she couldn't possibly neglect such security measures. What if someone tried to assassinate Amiya, the new Demon King?

"You must be the Crownslayer. FrostNova is waiting for you over there. Once you meet her, you'll understand what's going on."

"Let her go." With Kal'tsit's permission, Projekt Red immediately released the Crownslayer and then appeared by Kal'tsit's side.

"Lyudmila, I've said all I need to say. Go back and think carefully about what you truly want."

"I don't need your lectures. Next time, I'll make you pay." The Crownslayer coldly glanced at Kal'tsit, then turned and left without even acknowledging Daniel.
