Only a few doctors in Ireland were able to arrange a DNA test for me. Zeus did this on purpose, and he knew it. There was no way he couldn't find out who Aodhan's father was, and he had to change his money within the blink of an eye to ensure he was his father.
"You knew what you were doing. Admit it, Zeus. You've always been a conniving, selfish man," Dimitri commented. Ivy wants to go back home and have a doctor of her choosing. Not to ensure that there were very few near here, so few that you could manipulate it into ending the way you want."
"Which is what, exactly?" Zeus sighed, "Is this because I punished you? Are you still not over that?"
"You're lucky I didn't kill you," Dimitri growled.
"Did you like what I did to you? Is that it? Do you care about me-"
Dimitri swung, his fist landing on its target, Zeus's chin. Zeus staggered, a small trickle of crimson blood seeping from the corner of his lips. The sadistic smile that came across his face said it all. The blood coming across his teeth made it even more diabolical. Reign came between them, holding up both hands to stop the long overdue fight.
"Enough with the pleasantries," Zeus chuckled, "Is this what you need, Ivy?"
"Yes!" I groaned, "It's what I told you. You're the one insisting on it being a doctor from around here. What are you afraid of?"
"What you fear of me, I fear of you," he answered. "You're powerful and just as twisted as I am. Who's to say you don't do to me what you intend?"
Zeus was right. That's a secret I'll never let him know.
"Whether you like it or not, we're leaving here today," I replied.
"Okay," Zeus agreed. I can't change your minds, but I am coming with you."
My heart sank deep within me. "Excuse me?"
"I will stay in California until the results come," Zeus clarified.
I folded my arms over my chest, pressing my tongue to my cheek, "You think you're staying with me?"
"No," he denied, I'm not naive. I've already purchased a home near yours to make it easier for you. I am the one who compromises most of the time, so I have to admit I was expecting this."
Shaking my head in utter disbelief, I grunted like a child and stormed out of the room, unable to process the situation. Zeus always did this. It drove me crazy how controlling he was, knowing that he'd be there whether I wanted him to or not. Lawyers couldn't keep him from getting what he wanted.
I ran to my room, where I saw both Aodhan and Rowan peacefully sleeping. Was I wrong? Was it so bad to have the possibility of Zeus being Aodhan's father? No, I shook the fleeting thought from my mind. There's no way I would want my child to turn out like him. I couldn't live with myself.
"Are you alright?" Reign asked, breaking my train of thought.
"Sorry," I apologized, "I couldn't be in there anymore. He's so cruel. I'm a temptress myself, I can admit that, but I could never say what he said to Dimitri."
"I know," Reign agreed. Why do you think I love you? I like your vicious, wild side, but you have a heart, whether you want to admit it or not."
A small smile formed on my lips. "Where's Dimitri?"
"Right here," Dimitri answered. "Zeus is readying his private jets. Let's get out of here."
Hesitantly, I walked over to Dimitri and tenderly held his warm hand in my cold grasp.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah," Dimitri replied, refusing to look at me. "The sooner we get out of here, the faster I won't have to see that man again."
"You 're positive he's not Aodhan's father?" I questioned.
This caused Dimitri to turn and give me a brief, passionate kiss. "There's no way in Hell, and if he is, I'll be the Devil that drags him down with me."
Without thought, I went over to Aodhan and woke him.
"Mommy?"
"Come on, baby, we're going home," I promised.
Aodhan's beautiful sapphire-blue eyes lit up with happiness. "Yay!"
