Chapter 64 - The New Seventh Swordsman

Hentai Shinobi Rule 64: If you can't rizz them with brilliance, ntr them with their mothers.

The archives proved to be of little use. Though a Jonin could explore a considerable portion of the vault, there were still regions inaccessible to Kai—spots stealthily and openly guarded by several Anbu Operatives. However, they barely reacted to Kai releasing a pulse of chakra to sense and register their chakra signatures for the steady grind of the [Sensing Technique.]

The recollection of Hizashi's challenge barely caused any reaction in Kai. While he didn't expect the Hyuga Clan to try something like this just to have anyone, even Kai, bow down for offending them, the act hadn't surpassed the Youngest Jonin's expectations. The Hyuga and Uchiha were sticklers for their pride.

Due to Tsunade, Kai was well aware that the Hyuga Patriarch had joined to spectate his promotion exam. His performance was nothing to scoff at, be it his momentary compassion or skills. It would be a challenge for Hebi to expect a sincere apology for speaking the truth—the members of the Branch Family were slaves. But, ever the prideful bunch, the Hyuga didn't know when to call it quits. If you couldn't expect an apology, lure and beat one out of the target.

'But Hizashi has the confidence to take me on?' Kai narrowed his eyes. The twins weren't jonins yet. They were about 4-5 years older and boasted a modest record in the administration—at least, that's what Kai found in the archives. Undoubtedly, most of their intel wouldn't be open to the Jonin's internal circle. So, Kai could only speculate about their current level.

After all, being a Jonin and possessing a Jonin's strength was an entirely different matter.

Hizashi might not be a Jonin, but could be capable of beating one.

Kai was a Jonin, but his victories often relied on deceptive methods.

'It's easy to rile him,' Kai mused calmly, his figure cutting through the barely occupied street. 'Meanwhile, the most versatile skill under my belt is my transformation. Yet, they lack the physical weight to unleash their potential.'

Kai thought of Mito and the seal she used to make herself light as a feather during her career as the Slut.

'I'll need to quickly learn that seal,' he formed a basic training schedule. 'Then, I need to try out various fusions of transformation. The one I used against Ameyuri… I based that transformation on one of those shows… Pocket X Digital Monsters.'

Kai hummed. He'd tried that stuff to see if it could invoke any emotion in him. However, he barely felt a thing even after completing the first animated show he touched and gave up on that idea.

'Stingmon, was it?' Kai cupped his chin. 'Well, Stingmon it is. It was one of the more awesome-looking transformations either way and works with the essence of [Chimera Transformation.]'

'I just need to learn the seal that adds or removes weight to the body and find an appropriate number for Stingmon Transformation.'

'But the Hyuga can hit past the tough exterior. Their eyes are busted enough as is and can pinpoint anyone's tenketsu. Even if I transform, it doesn't change my tenketsu and chakra coil layout.'

Kai began his stroll again, soon entering the slightly more posh region of the village.

'I definitely need to add a few more chimeric transformations until I've got comparable stats. Maybe five transformations to resist the five elements?'

The idea momentarily intrigued Kai before he sighed. To him, Transformation was more about utility than battle. Sure, it worked against Ameyuri because of their circumstances. However, the risk of death barely lowered during that battle, and Kai had to keep improvising just to keep up with the freaky Ameyuri.

That brought him to another possibility.

'I can use the Kiba Swords. So, focusing on Lightning Release could pay off in the long term.'

That weapon was special and legendary for a reason.

The swords could become a long-term investment, capable of keeping up with Kai until he found or forged something better.

'Most elemental jutsu and genjutsu are useless against a Hyuga with an awakened Byakugan,' Kai smiled. 'So, it's better to focus on Taijutsu and Bukijutsu alongside polishing my escape. If the challenge becomes a real thing… Hizashi would only need one touch to…'

Kai stopped, his eyes suddenly brightening.

'Fuck… I can beat the living shit out of him!'

"Muhahahahahaha!"

Kai's laughter sent a shiver down a patrolling team's spines. They kept a cautious eye on Kai until he approached one of the apartments before sighing in relief.

*Knock*

*Knock*

*Knock*

A few knocks, and Kai was soon ushered into an austere apartment. He looked around curiously. Although aware of the residence, it was his first visit, and Orochimaru's residence differed from his office in how tidy it looked. Well, there wasn't much to speak about either. The furniture and fixtures were nothing fancy, and the apartment looked less like a home and more like a temporary shelter.

Although aware of the inquisitive yellow eyes boring into him, Kai continued inspecting the living room until Orochimaru walked over from the kitchen counter with two glasses of water.

"Here," the snake-like Jonin smiled dryly. "Beverage."

Kai blankly looked at the glass of water. The nerve of this guy to call water a beverage…

He sighed and formed a seal. The glasses of water turned into cups of cold, refreshing iced tea.

"I'm amazed you have iced tea, Orochimaru-San…" Kai began before he sighed again and formed another seal.

The iced tea returned to look like water.

His gaze drifted from the said beverage, pinning his unamused orbs onto the quietly smirking Orochimaru, who seemed all too smug about the joke.

"Are you done?" Kai scoffed, making Orochimaru shrug.

"If you can't sense the Genjutsu, I'm probably done."

'It's always a fucking test with this dude.' Kai rolled his eyes, unable to understand how a man could be so infuriating! So, he gladly took some silent pointers and learned from the best.

"What can I do for you?" Orochimaru picked one of the glasses and sipped. Still, the beverage did little to ease his usual scratchy voice. Similarly, Kai sipped from his glass and hummed in amazement.

"You added sugar in here?"

"Yes," Orochimaru smiled broadly. "Why would I serve water for a beverage? Sweetened water, on the other hand…"

The corner of Kai's lips twitched.

"How gracious of you, Orochimaru-San," he quipped. "Is that why Tsunade-Sensei dropped your ass from Hospital?"

"Not quite so," Orochimaru surprisingly answered. "You can say we faced some conflicting ideas, and I realized I was better off on my own."

Kai turned momentarily silent before smirking. "That so?" He snickered. "Was the conflicting idea based on what suited more as a beverage—sweet or salty water?"

"That was a terrible joke."

"Shut it! It's not like you're any better!"

Orochimaru chuckled. "So? Why did you pay me a visit?"

Kai rolled his left sleeve and revealed a coiled Cinnamon around his wrist.

"I want to train Cinnamon, and you are the best person to ask advice about nurturing snakes."

The chalk-skinned man, sharing a few snake-like features, nodded.

"Indeed," Orochimaru replied. "I've researched and collected extensive data about snakes and other serpentine creatures."

He continued after placing his glass on the table.

"However, you are no longer a genin. It's surprising how quickly you turned into one of my peers, though I admit you lack in several aspects. As a Shinobi of the same rank, why should I share my research with you?" Orochimaru inquired with a smile that failed to reach his eyes.

"Because you adore me," Kai stated without an ounce of shame. His skin proved to be thicker than most reptiles, boasting tough scales.

"Not that much," Orochi smirked.

"Fine," Kai huffed. "What do you want?"

"If I'm to share research and data, of course, I expect something similar in return," Orochi explained. "Do you have any valuable data to share? About a jutsu, perhaps? Or a radical idea you've been holding until now?"

Kai shook his head.

"I've got none of that. And most of my radical ideas are about… well… you know…"

Kai offered a universal look any man would understand. However, Orochimaru tilted his head, allowing confusion to light his gaze.

"I know what?"

Kai thinned his lips.

"Are you kidding me?"

"No. Are you?" Orochi shot back.

"Well," Kai clicked his tongue. "Do you want anything else for the data? Money?"

"Hmm, not quite," Orochi shook his head. "I have enough resources as is. And since you don't have comparable data and research material, the next best thing would be an exchange of service."

The chalk-skinned man pondered for a few seconds before smiling.

"How do you feel about helping me with a personal project? I'm trying to modify the Body Replacement Jutsu and could use your expertise in Fuinjutsu and Transformation Jutsu for the reptilian kind."

Kai accepted the request without much hesitation.

"Sure," the youth smiled. "Should we get on with it now?"

"I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I need some time compiling all my notes for you to peruse and copy. Of course, it goes without saying that you would share my work with others at your risk."

"I don't need to share your work to get a spar," Kai smirked cockily. "I can just demand one, right?"

"Hoh?" Orochi chuckled but didn't grace the statement with a reply. Instead, he tapped the table.

"I'll send over the notes tomorrow morning and notify you a day before I need you to work with me. How does that sound?"

"Nice," Kai nodded. "And thanks."

"Oh, it's nothing," Orochimaru waved his hand. "Now you can get out. You know the exit, yes?"

Kai glanced back and noticed the door was suddenly to the left.

He let out an exhausted grunt as he released the Genjutsu again, revealing the true exit.

"You never let up, Orochimaru-San!" He huffed, hearing the latter snicker.

"That's the secret of always being prepared. You should be grateful."

"Yeah, yeah."

<<<>>>

Kai didn't return to the residence. He didn't need to train in the garden anymore. No. Being a Jonin had its perks, and Kai could ask the administration for a free training ground to practice in, an advantage he exploited the second he left the Kage's office yesterday.

He soon arrived in Training Ground 69, a forested plot near the Academy, but like other Training Grounds, a fence lined its perimeter alongside a warning to wander into the property without necessary authority.

'Well, even if there are any Anbu's men or those weirdos from Danzo's little gay club, I don't need to act coy about it. Every higher-up is already aware I possess it.'

*Poof*

Kai unsealed a scroll, releasing the pair of Kiba Swords to the elements. The dual-fanged blades gleamed a chilling light, their tips thirsting for blood and flesh to tear. Their shape and form desired brutal battles where things got personal—moments where the user had to stab the blade, tear it through the opponent, and pulverize the bones.

'And this is my second Chakra Equipment.'

Kai observed with morbid intrigue. Chakra equipment was a minor aspect in a Shinobi's world, most needing those rare Chakra Ores, the mines of which were constantly desired by the Shinobi Villages.

The mines with the highest concentration of Chakra Ores were located in the Land of Earth. The Earth Daimyo enjoyed the lavish business of exporting said mineral, its use most sought after by the Shinobi because Chakra Ore was the second best material in the continent to conduct one's chakra through.

The first?

It was the living body, of course.

Kai sat down, observing one of the famed Seven Swords from Kiri. His fingers traced the flat of the blade as if trying to understand its make. Of course, Kai knew the material in and out. Chakra ore by itself never had much grand use. It was the prospect of an ingenious Shinobi creating something out of it that drove its prices beyond the ceiling.

The Youngest Jonin's first Chakra Equipment was none other than the mesh shirt under his vest. The mineral was processed into a silk-like consistency, its threads embedded with seals so minuscule that once prompted, the black ink would turn the once gray undershirt pitch-black. Its use was to increase the weight on the body as much as the user desired. But it was a fragile thing. If not, Kai could have worn it during the battles to increase his weight and match the Stingmon Transformation.

Even the senbon Kai carved with explosive seals could be considered a rookie hand at creating Chakra Equipment.

But not the Kiba.

In its blade thrummed an unknown seal capable of converting chakra into lightning whether the user had any Lightning Nature Transformation Technique or not. Of course, one needed to master Lightning Nature Transformation to safely wield the sword. Furthermore, directly flooding the sword with Lightning-Charged chakra enhanced the cutting power and allowed the swordsman to wield arcs of electricity without needing to manifest another jutsu!

The capabilities of the sword drastically differed from one swordsman to another. And Kai continuously recalled the powerhouse Ameyuri displayed herself to be with the weapon. Her body cut through the ground and sky alike, tearing past any obstruction with bolts of powerful lightning no worse than the forces of nature brewing during the creation of a storm.

Kai was quite decent with a sword after mastering [Kenjutsu Basics] and [Leaf Slash.] And although always preferring something discreet like a Senbon packing an explosive, Kai appreciated a good sword like any other narrow-eyed cynic discovering the joys of post-nut clarity.

Slowly, Kai allowed his chakra to seep into the sword. It was nothing like the technique—Chakra Flow.

Chakra always flowed. It was one of its fundamental qualities.

—Flow, attract, and dissipate.

However, Chakra Flow was also a technique where the Shinobi reinforced a target's effect by imbuing chakra. Swords would cut better, muscles would display greater strength and durability, and so on. Taking it a step further was the flow of chakra after manipulating its nature—elemental chakra flow.

The elemental chakra flow was also the foundation of several elemental jutsu.

The Chakra flow of the wind nature maximized a blade's sharpness.

A lightning flow, though similar in results, also increased a weapon's cutting power through an insane frequency of vibrations.

The Earth Nature chakra flow boosted the defenses, a trait shared by water release, which achieved greater defense through the 'soft' aspect of life.

Finally, the Fire Release was most notable for big boom energy.

And although Kai did not flow his chakra into the weapon to increase its sharpness—

*Bzzt*

A tiny coil of electricity branched out from one of the bladed fangs on the sword's edge.

[A new skill unlocked.]

Previously, Kai needed nearly 1.5 months to master the Yin and Yang Nature Transformations. However, the Jonin Title reduced the requirements of leveling the skill by a whopping 40%!

Kai grinned as the Kiba Blade reflected in his brown hues.

He quietly calculated in his mind.

Why wouldn't he smile?

It already took a lot to not laugh like a maniac!

After all, it would only take about 13 hours of consistent chakra flow training to master it!

Less than a day!

Kai instantly got into practice.
