It was only an instant. One moment, Lucas was running at me. The next, something about him changed. I couldn't exactly pinpoint what but a foreboding stronger than what I had ever felt in this fight.
His aura had already been increasing for a while but it was only additional. Like he had gotten a boost from somewhere, it suddenly shifted to an exponential increment.
I did not know what had happened. All I knew was that he was different. I could see it in his eyes. However, so was I.
"Sai." When he said my name, it was like he hadn't seen me in a long time. The oddity of it put a frown on my lips and I quickly shook it off and faced him properly.
"What?"
"Sorry." As he said that, a sudden world-racking pain that I had never felt suddenly hit me as a deep wound extended from my left shoulder to my waist.
