CHAPTER 35
ALEXIA P. O. V.
"Look Mom and Dad l was at the top of my class"
"You did well" the man patted the little girls head
"You are a brilliant little nutcracker"
the woman carried her in her arms,the smile on her face made my heart swell,it was welcoming, peaceful unfortunately I couldn't see her face but l bet she's as beautiful as the smile plastered on her face but the next minute the smile turned cold, cracked and there was blood coming out of it, it was no longer welcoming but pressed in a thin line like she was in pain. I woke up drenched in sweat, and was breathing like l was suffocating the damn alarm clock was making my ears throb so l threw it across the wall.
These past week I have receiving strange odd dreams that I could never put a finger on, they would come and go as they please leaving no hint or clues about what they are or who they are, the people in my dreams never reveal their face nor their name it was something was blocking me
But then I heard footsteps approaching my door, l quickly covered myself with a blanket and pretended to sleep,l knew it was Wyatt but I wasn't in the mood for training today. I have work my butt off throughout the week, yesterday we learnt about how to trust my senses where he put a thick blindfold in my eye and told me to listen to catch the ball which was hard because he was so stealth when throwing it but eventually I conquered it too. Then he put me in a very dark room where a normal eye won't be able to see anything then told me to defend myself while he throws some fight at me,this one was simple but l did receive a few hits. Today I wasn't going to put up with it anymore
"I know you're not sleeping"
"You know is rude to enter someone's else's house without permission"
"Not when that someone else's gave me the key before indirectly giving permission already"
AHH I forgot about that l think the whole city have my keys now
"Don't worry, l'll leave we are not going to having training for some time "
"May l know why"
"Look you aren't the only one tired,so l'm giving both of us a break "
"That's a relief "I exclaimed
"Have you found it?"
I said over the phone,l stayed at a distance not too far away from my company looking at the FBI'S go in and out watching them if there's anything but l couldn't find anything helpful
"Not yet Raven, but just as you said this people are stealthy and good at covering their tracks but I might have something but l'll need you to see if for yourself" Pete said
"Ok, l'll be there later"
I got out of the car and headed straight to the detective with the intention of peeking in his head
"Hello detective"
"Good day Miss Alexia"
"So how's the search going?, Still no clue?"
As he was explaining to me l used my chance but it was... Void like it was completely empty, l mean he is a human isn't he supposed to be thinking of something at least? What's going on?
Without saying another word l turn around to leave not even bothering to finish the conversation l started. I walked into the company and headed to my office when Nadia walked in
"How are you?" I asked
"I'm fine" she gave me a weak smile
I nodded feeling helpless once more, l didn't like it one bit. Working was out of my mind cause what is the point?. It was already dark outside and l didn't feel like going home yet so I walked around the city and stopped at a bridge overlooking everything
In just a month my world has turn upside down with my birthday, being a hybrid still getting use to the feeling that l'm not like normal people anymore, drinking blood, terrible nightmares, a dangerous project on the loose, someone dangerous that could be after my life. It was getting too much for me to handle l just wanted a peaceful life but it seems that was too much to ask for *Sighs*
"Hello pretty"
I turned around to see Dylan
"Hey"
"What is only you doing here?"
"Thinking, you?"
"Thinking"
"Ok will be my fellow thinking partner?" I teased
"Nice to meet you partner"
We laughed
"So what you thinking about?"
"Work, what about you?"
"Finding it hard to decide from pizza or burger for dinner"
I laughed
"Want my advice, just order burger that's what I would go for if it were me"
"Burger it is, now tell me yours maybe I could solve it for you"
"I doubt that"
"Come on, don't be like that and you still haven't tell me about yourself, how about this, l'll tell you 10 things about me you'll tell 10 things about you"
"10 is too big, 3 is okay"
"Eh at least you tried now l'll go first, Do you have a boyfriend?"
I laughed
"You don't give up, do you?"
"Nope,now answer"
"No Dylan, l don't have a boyfriend"
"Yes" he cheered
"But that doesn't mean l want one"
"We'll see"
"Now my turn, why are you interested in me and my background"
"Cause baby girl, I liked you from the moment I layed eyes on you and I knew you were the one and besides l like an air of mystery and since your so good at covering your tracks l figured to let you tell me by yourself"
"If so why don't you become a detective or something?"
"Who said l wasn't"
He pulled out his badge revealing his photo and several other details of being a cop
"Wow, l didn't see that coming" I said
He smirked" now l have 2 questions to ask while you just one"
"Shoot then"
"Why do you hide so many things about yourself, are you a serial killer?"
"Who said l wasn't" I teased
"I'm kidding, No l'm not a serial killer l just don't want noisy people like you to know such much about me"
"But why?"
"There's a reason for everything Dylan you just have to accept it that sometimes you can't know everything"
*Sighs* "fine, l won't push you"
There was a little silence between us before l spoke up"
"So as for my last question, What does that tattoo on your left shoulder mean"
It was a tattoo of a skull 💀 with red eyes, almost frightening to look at, he tried covering anytime I meet him but l have way long see it and always wondered what it meant but l didn't wanted to pry because it may be important stuff so l let it go but today curiosity got the best of me
"Nice eye" he commented
"It means strength and transformation,l had in my early rebellion years when I haven't figured out my life yet....
"Are regretting it?"
He shook his head
"No is kinda like a reminder of the stubborn person l once we're and the mistakes l made and the once yet to be made, the decision l have take"
"I understand" I said looking out
"What's bothering you?" He spoke out
"That your last question?"
He nodded
"Is about work, l feel like something bad is going to happen and I can't do anything about it making me feel helpless a feeling l hate so much"
"Sometimes we don't have the power to stop some things what's going to happen is going to happen is simply just fate but that doesn't makes us weak or helpless the best we can do is find an alternative or find another way and embrace it no matter the consequences..."
He held my hands for a moment he looked handsome and charming but l quickly shook my head and let go of his hands, laughing nervously
"You are right, didn't know you were a motivation speaker" I teased
"There's a lot of things you don't know about me, baby girl"
"You are quite flirty for a detective"
"I am who I am, darling"
A sly smirk appeared on his face and for a moment l thought I saw something else in his eyes but the next second it was gone
"I better start going" I said
"Let me drove you off"
"There's no need for that,l brought my own car" I said walking to the car
"And here l am thinking this was our bonding moment" he joked
"Goodbye Dylan" I smiled and drove off
"The plan was get close to her not flirt with her" a tall man appeared behind Dylan
"Come on, Ryan it wouldn't hurt to have some fun while at it besides it looks like l'm already warming my way into her heart, poor thing"
"Whatever Dylan just get it over with, boss wants you to report back to headquarters"
