From the grand formation emerged a twisted spatial passage, warped and eerie, filled with dangerous distortions.
The Purple Gold Divine Phoenix kept his gaze fixed upon it, watching intently. Only after seeing Lin Moyu step in and vanish into the channel did he finally relax and avert his eyes.
He spoke in a low voice:
"Let him succeed this time, please…"
At that moment, two figures appeared beside him, identical in form to the Purple Gold Phoenix, only differing in color
One radiated dark golden black hues, the other glowed with pure white light.
They were the other two of the Three Phoenixes the Black Gold Divine Phoenix and the White Gold Divine Phoenix.
The Black Gold Phoenix remarked, his tone low,
"This time… it seems he entered smoothly."
The White Gold Phoenix nodded slightly.
"Yes. Not like the previous two attempts. This time… there should be hope."
The Purple Gold Phoenix replied solemnly:
"We've searched for so many years. We tried twice before brought in outsiders. But those two were too weak. Daoist Lin is different. His potential surpasses any I've seen. If even he fails… who knows when we'll find another?"
The Black Gold Phoenix sighed heavily.
"If he fails… then we can only keep searching. We cannot disobey the Ancestor's edict."
The Purple Gold Phoenix agreed.

The White Gold Phoenix corrected him,

But soon he froze.
On the ground, just ahead, lay two corpses.

"Human corpses. The Purple Gold Divine Phoenix… lied to me."
Lin Moyu's expression darkened. The Phoenix had sworn he'd never sent others into the ancestral ruins. And yet… these bodies told another story.
They were unmistakably human. Humans couldn't enter here alone not without being brought in by the Three Phoenixes themselves.
That could only mean one thing:
He was not the first.
Others handpicked for potential, just like him had walked this very path. And they had died.
Failed just a step away, before even entering the palace.
Lin Moyu sneered coldly.
"Likely they feared that if I knew, I'd refuse."
He could understand the logic. If the Phoenix had told him beforehand that others had already died trying this, would he have come?
Still, being deceived sat poorly with him.
"This debt I'll remember. When I return, they will pay a price."
He grunted softly, pushing forward until he stood over the corpses and extended his hand.
A ghostly green flame unfurled. The Undying Flame.
He summoned the skill [Infinite Summon], channeling it into the remains.
At once, the corpses caught flame not consuming flesh, but reshaping soul.
Unless a being had attained Chaos Full Completion and beyond, Lin Moyu could resurrect them as Undead Servants.
In truth, he felt he could even revive Full Completion powerhouses, as long as "Dao" itself did not interfere.
The black fire blazed. Ancient aura spilled forth. The fractured souls of the two corpses slowly began to reassemble.
The process was not identical; their recovery rates differed, meaning their deaths had occurred at different times.
After half a day, the first stirred.
He sat up, then dropped instantly to his knees before Lin Moyu.
"Master," he said reverently. "My name… was Ling Feng. I was brought here by the Black Gold Divine Phoenix. He claimed I was to help the Progenitor with a matter. But before I entered the palace, an array struck me dead."
Lin Moyu's eyes glimmered cold. So the Phoenix had indeed lied.
The array Ling Feng described produced Chaos God Thunder, easily annihilating Chaos Lesser Completion cultivators.
Another hour later, the second corpse's eyes opened. His name was Bai Xiyin, similarly at Lesser Completion. He had been chosen by the White Gold Divine Phoenix.
Same pretense. Same end. Struck down by the god thunder before even entering.
The description unsettled Lin Moyu. This thunder was unique. It ignored flesh, obliterating only soul. Their bodies remained intact, yet their spirits had perished instantly.
He needed to test it.
With a thought, Lin Moyu summoned one of his undead minions, commanding it forward.
The ghoul charged, nearing the palace gates
CRACK!
A divine bolt fell like judgment, smashing it back violently. Its body unscathed, but its soul extinguished dead instantly.
A breath later it revived, restored at Lin Moyu's side.
Just as the two men had said. No harm to flesh; only the spirit. With overwhelming impact blasting all back who dared approach.
More experiments followed.
This time, he unleashed one hundred undead servants together, flooding the hall.
The response was instant.
Hundred fold thunder struck simultaneously. Bolts lashed, souls snuffed, every single one obliterated on the spot.
Revived, he re sent them again.
Dividing them into ten groups, waves upon waves, charging forward.
Whenever the first line fell, the second darted past into the gap.
The thunder never ceased. Like a divine drum pounding without end, roaring until the corridor shook itself apart with its echoes.
Half an hour, hundreds, thousands of bolts yet still Lin Moyu pressed the test.
Outside, the Three Phoenixes stiffened. The thunder inside boomed so violently it made even the Ancestral formation tremble.
Never in history had they heard such storm within.
Once or twice, yes in previous attempts.
But this?
The roars rolled one after another, tighter than a beating drum, furious as an ocean storm.
The three exchanged bewildered glances, their composure faltering.
"What in Chaos… is happening in there?"
The Purple Gold muttered with unease:
