Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: A pregnant... what?

How could she act so promiscuous infront of this... this dangerously alluring beast person?!

Her mind must have gone muddled!

"Ashta," he whispered, which sounded like a sultry invitation.

For a moment Hyerin's troubled mind went blank. She wanted to say she wasn't the person he was calling but the man continued to assault her neck, down to her collarbone and chest, making her synapses unable to function.

"Hmn..." She moaned.

After long, Sol retracted his squelching forked tongue and calmly warned.

"Don't test my patience just because I'm weak at my current state otherwise you will be sorry once I recover my strength and successfully give birth to our children."

Our child... children?

Hyerin jolted in shock and instinctively leaned back. Her eyes widened as her mind struggled to process what she had just heard.

She had been a woman who once longed desperately for a child—only to be told she could never conceive. And now this man in front of her was telling her he was… carrying their children?

Plural?

A man? Him?

Just what kind of world was this?

Her gaze dropped to the man lying beneath her. Her cheeks flushed instantly, but her eyes couldn't look away. Even with a tail wrapped around her waist and confusion clouding her thoughts, she couldn't deny how striking he looked.

She was alive. Somehow, she had been given a second chance. And if this man was claiming he carried her children…

"Gods," she whispered aloud, more to herself than anyone else, "Are you telling me I have a handsome husband… one who's even carrying my offspring?"

"Then what do you think am I if not your handsome... hus—"

Sol stopped. He blinked in confusion and turned as red as a monkey's butt after realizing what he was about to utter.

B-Bullshit!

Of course he was handsome but how could this woman use it to blatantly flirt with him? He almost let his guard down. What kind of stunt is this woman trying to pull again?!

Sol tried to control his expression. His head began to throb in discomfort.

Just one simple remark from that woman was enough for him to turn his body hot and feverish. Sol wanted to smack himself hard.

What kind of spell did she put on him to be acting this way?

He looked like he hadn't slept for days. Yet, it seemed like it was this woman who had been showing signs of sleep deprivation, muttering nonsense and causing him to be like this.

Unforgivable!

Sol bemoaned.

However, before he could say anything, Hyerin suddenly reached out and grabbed his large hands, startling him completely.

"What do you want now?" Sol said. His tone sounded firm, even though his insides were in turmoil and secretly going ballistic.

Meanwhile, the girl was undetterred. Gone were her hesitation and fear. She looked at the small bump in his abdomen and offered a bright, sincere smile.

She had no idea what kind of relationship this body's original owner —Ashta — had with him.

At this very point, all that she could surmise was that she died and rose back from the dead to another place and another body. Although uncanny, she had been given a life again. This life and that was enough for her.

Hyerin's eyes became teary. Be it a permanent possession or a temporary thing, how could a dead person like her with so much grievances and regrets in life not grab an opportunity to live for one more time and experience the life she had longed for in her past life?

"Umh, husband, I don't know what happened between us before, but from now on, I'll do better. I'll take responsibility for you and our kids. So don't overthink things, okay? Just rest, eat well, and focus on having our babies."

She pinched his hand gently, speaking as if making a vow. There was no trace of pretense in her words—only earnest joy.

From this moment on, she was no longer Nam Hyerin. She would live as Ashta. Hyerin's tender and yearning heart couldn't possibly allow the babies to grow without a mother.

And right now, she was too overjoyed to think about anything else.

Sol, on the other hand, was just too stunned and speechless. His face was unreadable as a dozen thoughts collided in his mind. He had half a mind to flip her over and demand a proper explanation. But this crazy woman suddenly clung to him like ivy around a tree trunk, all smiles and warmth.

( ꈍᴗꈍ). .༼⁰o⁰;༽ノ~

W-What the!

Why, why is she suddenly becoming so affectionate?

Did she lost her mind due to over indulgence?

This woman used to hate him!

No, not just hate. She loathed him to the core that she even tried to kill him countless of times but would fail everytime because she always waver.

Ashta knew she no longer have a place to return to after being bound to him. Or maybe it wasn't because of him, after all.

Ever since she they had found out about her 'unique' constitution, she was abandoned. A trash, without a beast mark and a stain they wanted to get rid of. Sol became the borrowed knife that made it all true.

Despite coming from a proud tribe of predatory bird beasts who basically worships their females, Sol found her unbearably frail and skinny.

She had taken her by forced to live with him, to become his mate. Sol was the one who committed the deed but he felt it was him who was conned and put into more disadvantage.

He was a feral snake known for his poison and ferocity but this woman made him carry her children, smashing his pride as a man into smithereens.

She never cared for him or the growing lives inside him, only seeking him out during heat or spiritual need, and even then, only with a cold gaze full of disgust.

It was her who drained his beast energy. It was her who had reduced him to this weak state. But it was him who put everything into place.

Damn it all!

He had enough of this ill-fated relationship. He took her by force and Sol knew he was destined to be hated. A feral beast like him would soon be casted away anyway by his mate by the time she found new mates. He had accomplished his goal to continue his bloodline.

Sol clenched his fist. It would be a lie to say he never hoped to be accepted but he knew his fate and circumstances as a feral so he had given up any false hope that would cloud his head.

And yet, now why? Why is this woman lying on top of him… smiling like that?

His heart felt tight. Warm. Almost embarrassingly so. Sticky, even.

Wait—sticky?

Sol lowered his gaze and froze.

"Snore…"

His jaw slackened in disbelief.

Bullshit.

What warmth? What fluttering emotion?

The only warm, sticky thing was this ridiculous woman's drool, now soaking into his bare chest while snoring loudly like a wild boar.

"Stupid woman," he muttered under his breath, utterly exasperated.

Still, he didn't shove her off like he usually would. Instead, he let her cling to him, helplessly accepting her embrace. After realizing what he just did Sol froze.

He shook his head and looked away, shyly. But before long, Sol found himself glancing back again as if his glowing red eyes were being pulled by the peaceful breathing of the woman and the small, innocent face just inches away from his.

He instinctively gulped.

"Shit!" Sol snapped.

He must have gone insane too.
