Dabao called Cai Xia after he sobered up. He learned she was at the airport and would be arriving in the evening.
They had discussed this meeting with his parents long in advance. Yet, as the time came, Cai Xia, the formidable diplomat who could keep her composure in any situation, found herself growing nervous.
"I'm worried your uncle and auntie might not like me..."
"That won't happen. My parents respect my choices. Besides, you're so outstanding. They were very happy when they heard about our relationship."
"But what if your brother and sisters don't like me? What then?"
"You're overthinking it. My family is just thankful I have a girlfriend in the first place. Why wouldn't they like you?"
Cai Xia burst into laughter. "Got it. I'll dress to impress tonight!"
"You don't need to be so formal. It's just a dinner to meet everyone."
