A nearby medical staff member explained, "The girl's leg is crushed, and the infection is severe."
The man beside them, red-eyed and with a scraggly beard, was clutching the attending doctor. "Doctor, please save my daughter! She loves dancing; she truly can't be without this leg."
The girl was already feverish and had fallen into a coma.
There were simply too many injured. After inspecting the wound, the doctor told the family to prepare for the worst: amputation might be necessary, considering the severity of the infection.
The man cried like a child. "Doctor, save her! My daughter loves dancing more than anything. If she loses her leg, her life will truly be over."
Everyone present was moved, and many people's eyes turned red.
Scenes like this had been playing out every day, and they could all understand the feelings of relatives, of parents. Someone directed, "Take the injured to medical tent number three."
