Happy new year.
How is everybody? So, I waited to see how many want me to return. About 6-8 people commented on the last post I published. About same, only 6-8 people, gave me the stones. 1 new good review I think. So, not enough fans đ.
Now, the decision to return or not, I will answer that question at the end. First, I am gonna talk about agendas. I recently found that there is something called One Piece Agenda. Basically, all the issues that fans find with One Piece. You can google it. There are quite a few youtube videos and even threads on some platforms like reddit. Some of them are hilarious. For some reason, I want to talk about my agendas with some anime + novels.
ONE PIECE: Luffy is dumbest and the most idiot protagonist. I see a pattern in the protagonists of SHONEN Jump. Naruto is dumb most of the time, only in certain situations you say that "damn!", he is smart. Luffy on the other hand, has the mind of a 5 year old child. Maybe more younger. On anime, it is funny to watch and all, but, if you think about it clearly, a pirate group with that much of an idiot captain will not work or survive. I have been watching anime for 12 - 15 years, I used to love One Piece. But now that I have matured, with realistic point of view of our world and a lot of knowledge of fantasy worlds through novels, manga, anime, tv shows, movies and games, I don't like One Piece that much anymore. I will explain with examples why as I know just by writing this, there will be fire in the hearts of many fans, who want to raise pitch forks against me. Here are my agendas:
- Luffy is an idiot all the time. At least naruto is smart in battle. For example, after punching the celestial dragon your priority should be to escape but not Luffy, the idiot wanted to go to the amusement park even though an admiral was on his way. Watch the episodes and check for yourself. There are probably more situations.
- Most arcs follows the same formula. The crew arrives at a new island, gets separated or split up themselves or they arrived while carrying someone with a sad backstory. There is a tyrant who is ruling people in some evil way. The crew is split up already. If they don't know about the tyrant, as they just arrived and no one with the sad backstory was on their ship who brought them, then each group gonna run into some situation and there will be fights. If they arrived carrying someone with a backstory and know about the tyrant, then they are split up and fight the subordinates of the tyrant. A map is brought up on the screen showing where each group is and as episodes pass you see who is where and fighting who. Aside from the Ace retrieval arc or impel down, which only follow luffy, most of this formula is true.
- Most of the time Luffy always loses one or two times and only defeats the big bad villain on the second or the third try. Example, while fighting Crocodile he lost at least once, While fighting Gecko Moria; he loses once and lost his shadow, while fighting CP9 the first time most of the crew lost and couldn't do anything, While trying to capture Ceaser Clown he gets captured instead the first time which is same as losing, While fighting Doflamingo; Law has the sea prism shackles and Luffy loses Doflamingo who throw luffy and law out and creates a killing game. Luffy reaches Doflamingo again and fights in Gear 4 only for it to run out and then for 1 - 2 episodes, people are stalling while he recovers. Then he returns and finishes Doflamingo. While fighting Kaido, he is knocked out the first time and imprisoned. He returns with an army and gets taken out again even if a CP0 agent got in the way. He wakes up with his fruit awakened and then fights and defeat Kaido. All the shit is same, different islands and villains, but same formula.Â
- Now that I know the formula of arcs, and story has dragged on for so long that it is not that interesting. Till Fishman island arc I think it was fine but after it, at least for me it started becoming less interesting and Wano arc by far for me was the worst. Sure at the end there was cool animation in Gear 5 form but story wise, now that I know the formula, it is not that interesting.
- The JoyBoy SHIT is stupid. Even villains like Kaido are like "Oh, if anyone can beat me then that would be joyboy". They are hyping this JoyBoy so much but I don't think it is gonna be as interesting. For example, in Naruto they hype up Hashirama so much through Madara and then we see the back story and it shows. In one piece, I don't think it is gonna be that great. Example is Vegapunk. They hyped him up so much that he is the smartest person, a genius etc. The old turned out to be the most idiotic and stupid genius I have seen. He was pure disappointment.
- The smartest person in One Piece is the most stupidest and idiotic person I have seen. Vegapunk creates clones and each one embody an aspect. There are literally 2 with aspect of Greed and Evil. He didn't even thought that at least 1 could go rogue? Not only that, the idiot creates weapons for the government and further creates pacifista and think the government isn't evil and his inventions won't be used for evil as well. He talks about morals yet he converted Kuma and erased his memories completely. He is the biggest idiot I have seen who is hyped as a genius.
- I read manga chapters to keep up where the story is going and God Valley arc and even the current story of the Giant king aren't that great. Even the attack of God Knights on Elbaf and the Pirate King's left hand facing them, the left hand of the pirate king is SHIT. When anime comes, they might make him cooler with cool animations but in manga at the very least, he is SHIT.
Comparison: If One Piece isn't that great then which anime could be better? I can give you the answer. Naruto is better and Hunter x Hunter is even better than Naruto. But because Naruto's story actually finished I would score it higher. We don't even know whether the author of Hunter x Hunter could even finish it or not. Naruto of course has some issue as well. But its writing, plot, main story villains, how the battles happen, clash of ideologies and the take away from the battles or arcs hit hard. Let me give you examples, in the first arc we see how shinobis are treated as tools but even as tools they are human. The way at the end, Zabuza dies hit hard. The First fight between Naruto and Sasuke in the Final Valley, the dialogues hit so hard. Battle between Sasuke and Itachi and then the truth behind Itachi is so amazing. The dialogues that they exchange and the way they fight. Even when Sasuke run into the reanimated Itachi, the dialogues and how they fight Kabuto by working together, the whole scenario is so damn good. One Piece doesn't even come close in writing. As I said, it uses the same formula. Most of the story would be same with only few changes and new sad backstories and their characters. Due to all these reasons, I only go through the manga chapter to keep myself up to date about where the story is going but I am not that great of a fan anymore.
Last thing I would say, One Piece has lost its charm and I am not the only person saying that. If you google you can find threads with many people saying same. Oda is not that good as he was before. But using the same formula for most arcs is well, now that I know, means as a creator he has run out of ideas or creativity.
Eminence in Shadow agenda:
This is the most stupidest novel and the main character I have seen. The main character clearly has a mentally disease and should be in a mental hospital. Lastly, for some reason Lady Luck actually bows to him all the time. The main character throws a knife randomly on a map and BOOM, there is a secret hideout there. Main character starts digging one place because he misunderstood and he is stupid, BOOM, there is a treasure there. Whats more, all the female leaders under him, who even though lived with him for a few years to train, haven't figured him out? they have something wrong with their brain as well. This novel is SHIT with the only point of it being a comedy. But still, I don't understand why it has better animation than One Punch man season 3. Also, I don't understand why it even got animated, its novel published and has a fan base. This is the most ridiculous novel I read. There are some chinese garbage out there that follow this same approach.
Naruto Agenda:
Now Naruto, It is one of the most amazing written stories out there. It doesn't have as many issue as One Piece for me. I love it a lot. The issues I am gonna be discussing have nothing to do with plot as the plot issues I have with One piece. I either have character issues like issue with Sakura, how she behaves etc. or what some character did or didn't do or whether some character paid a price for their actions or not. If I am suggesting something then I am using the lens of real world to explain that "Oh, if we want the character to be real, according to how real world works, he should have done this or shouldn't have done that". So, these are my issues.
- Sakura is completely useless before shippuden. In shuppiden, she is just a bit more useful but at the end, the only use she has is of a chakra battery for Obito to go and get Sasuke, who has been trapped in another dimension. Sakura's obsession with Sasuke is not clear as well. It could be 1 of 2, either Kishimoto wasn't interested in setting her up correctly or she's got a screw lose. She is a half yandere as she is obsessed with Sasuke, Why? we don't know, and half yandere because she doesn't kill Sasuke or any woman who go for him while a complete yandere will kill the person she loves if she think he is cheating or gonna cheat, or she will kill her other competitors. She has masochistic tendencies. There is probably some stockholm syndrome SHIT going on with her as well. Don't believe me? Here is an example: Sasuke almost kills her when he was about to finish Karin after the fight with Danzo. She survives the first time because Kakashi arrives on time. In that same sequence, but maybe another episode; I don't remember, she tries to kill Sasuke but stops the last second and then Sasuke tries to kill her again but Naruto saves her. Naruto who is there for her all the time is treated as SHIT by her in all the series.
- Through the anime you get to understand why Naruto doesn't want to give up on Sasuke even though the guy has gone complete psychopath and even at the end, he is ready to kill the tailed beasts and the Kages. BUT! After watching naruto a couple of times, If I just go with the story it hits hard that there is friend like that but If I think carefully, in a world like that, with killing, wars, ninja shit, sure naruto can try to save Sasuke but I think even a good person will give up after trying for 2 maybe 3 times.
- Sasuke's change at the end after his final battle with Naruto, if I just watch the anime and go with the story and flow, I think that is beautiful and it hits hard. BUT! if I think clearly and not in the context of the anime, Naruto should have given up when he met him again when Sasuke was about to kill Sakura. In the final battle, It should have been Naruto killing Sasuke because he still consider Sasuke a friend but he knows he can't change Sasuke's mind and too many people have put faith in Naruto for him to spare him. So, Naruto should have fought to keep his memory of Sasuke alive and killing Sasuke should have been about not letting his friend do more bad SHIT. It should have been the only thing he could do for Sasuke as a friend. At least, if I were the one writing then I would have gone along that route. It sounds more realistic. It also show that Naruto has matured and understand reality and not the dreamy version that he thinks the world is.
- Boruto is the biggest SHIT there is. I said it. Boruto is only for making money. I did research on this OK!. Basically, Kishimoto just tells the main plot points to the guy drawing the manga. Kishimoto just tells him like "Naruto and Sasuke will not be able to beat Isshiki" => "Boruto will lose control of Karma" => "Before time skip, everyone will be against Boruto.". This is not the exact way Kishimoto assigns the work but I read english text of interview that was done of the guy drawing Boruto and he said that Kishimoto tells him some major plot points, then he has the creative freedom to decide how the story should flow so that those things happen. It is true. Google it. In Boruto, all the fights are decided without Kaiju battle as it was before in original naruto, because he said that drawing those battles are not easy and Sasuke and Naruto are so strong so battle on that scale would be too devastating and hence drawing these are difficult so now most if not all Naruto + Sasuke battle are decided by taijutsu fights. The Only victory you get by Kaiju level battle is for Momoshiki. After that check and see, all the battles are decided by taijutsu. Example: Naruto and delta's fight, (Sasuke + Naruto in Susanao + Nine tails form) vs Issiki as well; this battle is decided at the end through taijutsu and naruto and sasuke lose the first time. Which is Complete BULLSHIT!. When I read the reason for all the battles now being decided by taijutsu, I was so angry.
- They nerfed Naruto and Sasuke. Sasuke renegan began 1 time use eye bulb that needs to be recharged by not using from minutes - hours after each use. Naruto is not the same level as well. I am talking about after Momoshiki fight. Momoshiki fight is different because it was first for the Boruto movie, then they made changes to the fight in manga. But After it, you will notice some BULLSHIT going on. Naruto + Sasuke in their Nine tails and Susanao form can't do shit to Isshiki? Even Sage Mode which should allow Naruto to sense the coming attacks with threat detection like spiderman's spidey sense and Sasuke's Rinnegan, for a mode with 6th sense or future sight like ability and a legendary eye that clearly has a lot of abilities, all which were shown in the original story and in anime and are canon, why can't they seem to work? Kaiju mode doesn't work as well? But for some reason, Naruto is able to catch Isshiki's rods when he is in Babylon mode even though before he couldn't. And Babylon didn't give him any new abilities or increased his Chakra, only that for each hit to Isshiki, his life force would burn. Then, Sasuke Uchiha, who has clearly been shown as cold analytical ninja that analyzes everything about the battle, the opponent, always is on guard during a battle, has legendary eye balls like mangekyo and renegan, couldn't dodge a surprise attack by momoshiki who has taken over Boruto? Even though momoshiki didn't do a teleport jutsu or shunshin to do that? He just ran in full speed and stabbed Sasuke's renegan. THIS IS ALL BULL SHIT! I CALL CAP!
- Another point, for some reason, new ninja generation in Boruto specially the girls like to wear high heels and sexy clothes? even though they are teenagers? that is how they are drawn in the manga. Woman can barely walk in them, let alone run, jump and fight. The person drawing the Boruto manga is sus as fuck.
- Lastly, the thing with Ada and her brother, THAT IS BULLSHIT as well. For some reason, shinobi's from naruto generation aren't strong enough? Ada's brother clearly has damage reflection ability that only works if he is touching the other party and is clearly not that strong at least based on the original naruto's standard, why can't he be taken down? Ada's ability is the Biggest BULLSHIT as well.
Naruto Last Comment:
I have no problem with naruto + naruto shippuden. The story is beautifully written, good battle scenarios, good villain, amazing dialogues and powers etc. There are only a few minor problems like Sakura and her obsession etc. But When you don't think about anything and just enjoy the OG anime, the way the story flows, plot, fights and dialogues are amazing. The things I said was from the point of view of real world. But then again, if we use the same lens then every story will have problems. So, Summary is, Naruto is way better than One Piece and I have minor problems with it like Sakura, her obsession, Third hokage said to be amazing even though his nature of not taking any active action caused quite a few problem, or Kishimoto not showing naruto the reality of their village like ASSASSINATION!, because clearly Konoha gets and executes ASSASSINATION jobs after all they are a ninja village, or Gaara, Temari and Konkuro escaping after losing the battle during leaf village attack etc. So, there are some issues but these are minor and can be ignored if you just follow the story and not think about it. Everything I wrote and said was my point of view of apply some real world circumstances to this fantasy world. Which as I said before, if we use the same lens then every fantasy story will have problem. Not One Piece though. The formula used for each arc, Luffy being idiot, Luffy's grandpa being the biggest hypocrite (In the God Valley incident we find out that the young Garp learned of the bad shit that Celestial Dragon do and Navy does for them yet he is still part of Navy even when he is old), story not being that amazing anymore etc. There are lots of problems.
So, No problem with OG naruto + Naruto Shippuden. Love it!
The only thing I hate are the retconning that Kishimoto did. But aside from that everything is amazing in the story.
On the other hand, I have lots of problem with Boruto. I abhor it with my heart and soul. For some reason, only Boruto's generation can handle the threats. Naruto's generation is shown useless. I hate the plot, the nerfing of Naruto and Sasuke, Ada and her brother and even the whole divine trees plot and the remaining Ćtsutsuki or how Boruto and Kawaki are Ćtsutsukis and then there is dynamic of how Boruto consider Kawaki his brother and even though Kawaki betrayed him and fooling everyone, he is like, We will handle our dispute later. I believe Kishimoto and his student is trying to create the same thing of Hashirama vs Madara and Naruto vs Sasuke. BUT IT IS ALL BULLSHIT! SPECIALLY SHOWING TEENAGE GIRLS IN THE WAY THAT HE DRAWS. IT IS SUS I TELL YOU!
