Reaching the second floor again, I quickly retraced the steps to the room where Thorne and Annabelle had entered. With a final glance back, I slipped into the room quietly, easing the door shut behind me with a soft click that barely registered over my ragged breaths.
Once inside, I quickly duck behind the wardrobe's bulk, its door ajar just enough for a vantage point, offered the perfect hidden spot where I could observe without being seen. Luckily, they didn't switch the lights on and my enhanced vision allowed me to see everything clearly.
However, what I saw made me freeze in shock. My face instantly flushed with embarrassment, heat crawling up my neck as I realized what I'd stumbled upon. There, in the center of the bed, Annabelle was on top of Thorne, the scene hit me like a splash of ice water. This was far from the covert meeting I'd expected.
