Tonight was the night.
The last night to be spent at the cathedral.
Nothing eventful had occured these past two months, Albedo once came, looking to check for me any corruption caused by Durin's remains on Jean's request, of course he didn't say it, but the Chalk Prince wouldn't have any other motives to visit me.
It was strange, that the son of Rhinedottir, one of the five sinners, was right there.
This world was ironic, so many things, so many connections, so many secrets.
Alexandra left this morning, saying she would meet me when I was released.
The cathedral was quite, eerily infact.
The only sound that my ears could pick was one of the nurses preparing food for me in the kitchen.
I seemed to get hungry all of a sudden, so I asked the sister to make some food for me, she obliged happily.
It was strange, my current situation, I had already made such connections with almost everyone important in Mondstadt without even being important in the main storyline.
Alexandra told me that I would be assigned some smaller tasks while i fully recover, and then I would most likely be assigned to the 'project' in Liyue, she said that she would the Fair Lady to protect me during the mission, she was distraught at the thought of me working under 'Tartaglia'.
The project Liyue, I was familiar with. Nothing there would happen to me if I was gonna be working with Signora, she didn't make an appearance till the end anyway.
But something told me i would do more than just follow her around.
Something importance also happened, Vlimir's son was born, it has almost been a week.
I would've gone to see, but Alexandra didn't let me.
The first thing I was gonna do after getting out of here was going to Vlimir's house.
I once asked Alexandra why she didn't have me taken to the facilities of the Fatui.
She replied, "Better if you stay here, you are safe here. With your uniqueness and our blood, I don't trust those people enough to leave you at their care when you are already doing fine here."
Nothing more.
Someone else I had also forgotten about, I guess it's high time I gave him a treat.
With whatever energy I could muster up, I summoned Fenrir.
He materialized on the bed and almost bit my head off before stopping and growling at me.
"Sorry, it seems to be that you were asleep. If you want I could send you back, but the delicious meat here would go to waste." I said to him.
As if he understood every single word perfectly, he jumped down the bed and walked towards the window, seemingly waiting for his meat to arrive.
After some time, the Sister came in with a tray filled with food and placed it on my lap, "Shall I feed it to you?" She asked.
I shook my head and smilled, "No, and thank you-"
That's when Fenrir growled.
The sister immediately focused her eyes on Fenrir and when she looked into his blood red eyes, his body bathed in moonlight, she nearly fainted and fell down on her back.
I sighed and looked down at her, "I am sorry, but I promise, he won't harm you, if you could just give him some meat, he will leave. He is mine."
The sister gulped, stood up and hurried towards the kitchen.
I yelled so she could catch me, "He likes boar meat!".
The Fatui donate a shit ton of mora to the Cathedral, a little bit of meat for Fenrir is the least I could ask for.
After sometime, the nurse brought a big bowl filled with meat and left it around 4 feet away from Fenrir, slowly walking there until she could no longer get closer.
She looked at me, "I'll take the utensils tomorrow, good night!" And hurried back to her quarters.
Fenrir shortly finished his meal and looked at me once before returning to his home.
After I finished the food the sister gave me, I drifted off to sleep too.
Morning
My eyes fluttered open when the sunrays hit my face.
I looked around to see that the Sisters had already gotten to their work, tending to the others and their other work.
As I sat up on the bed, Barbara looked and came and stood beside my bed, "How are you feeling?"
"So good that you should release me right now." I said.
Barbara chucked, "That'll happen today, don't worry, but first we gotta give you breakfast and tidy you up. Wait here, I'll go prepare your breakfast." With that, she turned around and walked towards the kitchen and started preparing my breakfast.
I looked out the cathedral windows, and admired the beautiful view, the mountain and the city.
Before long my breakfast was ready, and it ended shortly after I started eating.
After that, the nurses removed the bandages and one of them took me to the bath.
I washed myself thoroughly and changed into the clothes that were given by Alexandra before she left. Normal black shirt and pants and leather boots.
I styled my hair normally and then saw my face in the mirror.
There they were.
One scar running down the left corner of my lips and a long scar on my from my chest.
I walked out of the bathroom and looked at all the sisters and smiled and waves goodbye and walked towards the door.
After I opened the door and entered the church, Barbara was talking with one of the sisters before she looked at me and approached me, "All ready, huh?" She asked.
I nodded, "All thanks to you and the sisters."
Barbara smiled and shook her head, "No need for thanks, it's our duty to help and heal people. And please, thank your sister on my behalf for the generous donation, trust me, it will be put to good use."
Donation?
"I will." I nodded at her and then looked at the big door and then back at her, "Goodbye."
Barbara nodded, "Goodbye. May the wind be with you."
With that, I walked towards the exit and exited the cathedral.
The sunlight and fresh wind hit me, as I streched my arms and yawned.
The day had just started, the birds were singing and the people were going about their work.
I looked up at the statue of Barbatos and walked down the flight of stairs of the cathedral.
I descended further and the Knights of Flavonious' headquarters came into sight.
Infront of the headquarters, near the railing, was Jean.
As if sensing that I was there, Jean turned her eyes towards and signalled me to come to her, a smile on her face as usual.
I sighed and bolted down the stairs and towards the headquarters.
Jean walked towards me and when I was close enough, placed her hand on my head and then my chin and inspected my face.
"These scars... Hmm... Quite distinctive, they look rather good on you." She released my chin and smiled, "So, fully fit now, huh? Back at full energy?"
"No, still feeling a little weak, but not for long, now that I am out of that damned bed, I'll get some fresh air for once." I said.
Jean chuckled, "Now now, be careful from now, one near death experience is enough."
She took hand and held it up and looked into my eyes, "Boris... Please, stay away from such things, they are too dangerous... Too much for someone like you. You are young, such things aren't for you." She clutched my hand tightly, she wasn't wearing gloves, her soft hands gripped mine tightly.
"I'll.... Try my best..." I said.
Jean sighed and looked into his eyes and brought him closer, a stern look on her face.
Boris was suprised at her action, looking into her eyes, and when he thought of it, both her and him looked quite similar.
She brought her face closer and looked into his eyes sternly before sighing and loosening his hand, "Please... Until you are fully recovered, stay away from anything serious."
"Okay...." He said.
Jean smiled and brought her hand to his face and pushed a strand of his white behind his hear, "Your hair really is very beautiful." She stood up straight, "Well, I assume you are still gonna be in Mondstadt for a few days."
"I don't know about that, the Fatui can ring me up anywhere any time." I said shaking my head.
Jean sighed, "Well. If you do happen to stay, come visit me at the Gunhildr residence, i live alone for now, my mother is away with Grand Master Varka, it gets lonely, I would be delighted to host you there. Show up anytime."
I nodded, "I will if I am here." And then waved at her before turning around and walking towards the Mondstadt square.
I took a turn into the path beside Good Hunter's, towards Vlimir's house.
"What will you have for breakfast?" A voice suddenly asked out of nowhere.
I nearly jumped and looked at the source, there she was, Alexandra, standing up against the wall.
"So, what will you have for breakfast? I'll order it so you can come and eat by the time you return after talking with that woman." She said.
"Wow, well order whatever you want." I said.
Alexandra came close and held me by shoulder and scanned every inch of my body, "Anything unusual beside the small aches?" She asked.
"No." I replied.
After some more searching, she was satisfied enough and let go of me and walked towards the front of Good Hunter's.
Then I walked around the place and soon stood infront of Vlimir's house.
I hesistantly walked up to the door and knocked on it, "Fey." I said in a quite voice.
There was the sound of a baby crying, followed by approaching footsteps and then the door opened.
Fey opened the door, and there was little Varys in her arms.
"Oh, Boris. You are here." She smiled a little and opened the door fully, "Come in."
"Hello, Fey." I looked at Varys, "You too, little Varys." And then walked into the house, and sat on a sofa nearby.
"Let me get some tea for you-" Fey said and placed little Varys into the cradle that was right infront of the sofa.
"No need, I was just here to check up on you and him." I said, leaning over and rubbing Varys' cheek.
Fey smiled and came back and took a seat on the chair infront of me, "Thank Barbatos and Lady Tsarista, your health seems fine. How are you feeling?"
"I am feeling fine." I said and then looked at her, "How have you been doing? Any difficulties? Do you need help around the house? Any money issue? Anyone bothering you?"
Fey shook her head, "No problems, the girls around here help me alot often, they go and get the groceries and other necessities for me and even help around the house. The money we got from the Fatui has lasted us and will last longer, and the other money is still unused." Then she stopped and looked at him. "I also saw that you deposited alot of Mora into my account, when I went to check with the Fatui. You dont-"
"Please, Fey." I said, shaking my head, "I owe my life to Vlimir. Making you two's life as comfortable as I can is the least I can do. I will send Vlimir's money from his account in Liyue and some more when I get there, if there is anything else you ever need, anything, just contact me, okay?" I said.
Fey smiled a little and nodded, "Thank you, Boris."
I stood up, "Well then, I'll get going."
"What?" Fey seemed surprised, "so soon? Stay here for some time, for breakfast, play with Varys."
I shook my head, "I'd love to, but my sister is waiting for me."
"Oh." Fey said, "Well then, goodbye, i hope to see you again soon."
"Goodbye." I said and then knelt down and caressed Varys's head, "You too, little one." And then walked out the door, as Fey stood outside waving.
Soon enough, I was at Good Hunter's, and there was Alexandra sitting on a chair with a mirade of dishes on the table.
I smiled and took a seat beside her, "You know I already had breakfast at the cathedral."
"You need more, you've been out of commision for a while, filling your body up with food can help once in a while." She said.
I nodded and started eating alongside her.
"Listen. You'll be here for a little bit of time, and then you'll be called to Liyue, to work under La Signora, you have met her before, haven't you?" She asked.
I nodded, "Yeah, but you already told me."
Alexandra nodded, "Yes, just telling you once more." She finished eating and wiped her mouth with a napkin, "One more thing."
"What?" I asked her after swallowing down food.
"I am leaving now. And we probably won't meet until you arrive in Liyue, or perhaps even later." She said, her hand holding mine on the table.
"Where are you going now?" I asked.
"Nothing specific, for some days I'll be in Liyue and then Sumeru. But I will try to stay in Liyue longer so I can meet you when you get there. I am leaving now, and am supposed to head to Sumeru for some mission after some days." She said.
"Oh.." I said and looked at her.
She sighed, "I regret, having to leave you like this. But I have to leave now."
She stood up and came closer and grabbed my face and left a kiss on my cheek and then stood up straight, "I'd take you with me if I could, but it's better for you to stay around these matters in your current condition." She looked at the city gate and then at me, "Goodbye."
Then she turned around and started walking away.
Then halfway across the path, she turned back and looked at him, into his eyes, a complex look present in hers, and she nodded and walked through the city gates.
I saw her get into a caravan that was stationed outside the gates and the caravan slowly disappeared.
"How sad..." I heard a familiar female voice.
I turned around and there she was, the Traveler, standing there.
