Su Yunjin spent the whole morning talking with her second sister, then had lunch at her sister's house. The lunch was prepared by her brother-in-law Wang Meng, and it was the first time Su Yunjin tasted a meal made by him. She was surprised to find that her brother-in-law's cooking skills were actually quite good.
Wang Meng put five dishes and a soup on the table, both meat and vegetarian dishes. The soup was pork bone soup, made with pork leg bones and large bones, and the flavor was very fresh. After Su Yunjin drank one bowl, she ladled out another half bowl to savor. There were two vegetarian dishes and three meat dishes, with the simple fried cucumbers being very crisp. The potato and chicken dish, made with an old hen, tasted exceptionally delicious.
