Chapter 416: Agreement to Cancel the Regulation
In the God Realm Committee.
Not long after Kong left, the five God Kings began to discuss the regulation that prevented the soul beast race from becoming gods.
"Everyone, what are your thoughts on the Thunder God King's proposal?" asked the Evil God King, seated at the head of the table. His gaze swept over the gathered colleagues, his expression calm.
"I don't think it's acceptable."
The Destruction God King shook his head, voicing his opinion, "Have you all forgotten the threat the Dragon God once posed to the entire God Realm? Moreover, the soul beasts' faith doesn't really make much of a difference to us. After all, for so many years, haven't we still remained the strongest beings in the universe? Do you really think that by gaining the soul beasts' faith, we can break through beyond the God King realm?"
The God Realm, as the center of the entire universe, ruled over countless lower planes. The faith it received was already endless. So the so-called soul beast race was never truly significant—humanity was the true ruler now.
"Destruction makes a valid point."
Beside him, the Asura God pondered for a moment, then nodded in agreement, "The soul beast race places immense value on bloodlines and species. Even if we revoke this regulation, they might not offer their faith to us. After all, both the Golden Dragon King and Silver Dragon King—splits of the Dragon God—are still alive."
If he remembered correctly, even the Sea God, who quelled the sea's unrest and used faith to become a god, barely received any faith from the sea soul beasts. That was because, within the soul beast race, the law of the jungle was supreme.
Interfering in soul beast conflicts might benefit the weak and powerless, but for powerful soul beasts, it was not welcome. Because in the soul beasts' world, strength was proven through hunting. It was how they claimed territory and food.
If a human expert forcibly intervened and demanded peace among all soul beasts, in the long run, one side would certainly starve to death.
"So, shall we reject the Thunder God King's proposal?"
After listening to the two, the Evil God King didn't immediately reply but instead turned to look at the Goddess of Life and the Goddess of Kindness.
"I don't really care either way."
The Goddess of Life shrugged. Her delicate, gentle face was filled with indifference as she said, "The soul beast race has been bound by this regulation for hundreds of thousands of years. If we cancel it now, it might actually help prevent the Silver Dragon King from stirring up chaos in the lower realms."
"Anyway, after all these years, there have hardly been any soul beasts capable of ascending to the God Realm."
"I agree with the Goddess of Life."
The Goddess of Kindness nodded in approval and said softly, "Among those who even know about this regulation, it's basically just the Silver Dragon King and that little black dragon who once served the Dragon God. Other soul beasts don't know anything about it."
"That's why, over the years, we haven't seen any soul beast reach the million-year mark—they all perish in tribulations."
"Besides, cultivating as a soul beast is a hundred times harder than as a human. Add the tribulations, and the odds of becoming a god are virtually one in ten thousand."
While the universe's primordial will grants soul beasts long lifespans, it also gives them extreme difficulty in growth. So, just as the Goddess of Life said, whether the regulation stays or goes doesn't seem to matter much.
"In that case, let's cancel the regulation."
Hearing the two goddesses' opinions, the Evil God King lightly nodded, then said, "The pact we made with the Dragon God shouldn't be imposed on other soul beasts. What do you two think?"
With that, the Evil God King turned his gaze back to the Destruction God King and the Asura God King.
"Well, if all of you have made up your minds, what else can I say?"
The Destruction God showed a speechless expression. Even if they voted, it would be three against two—and besides, his own wife had voted to cancel it. What was the point in holding out?
"Then cancel it," agreed the Asura God King, offering no further objection.
And just like that, the regulation that had restricted the soul beast race from becoming gods for hundreds of thousands of years completely vanished today.
At the same time, whether it was Di Tian and the other fierce beasts at the bottom of the Lake of Life, or other soul beasts of lesser strength scattered across various places, all simultaneously lifted their heads.
They could clearly sense that a shackle within their bodies had been broken on its own. Yet none of them knew exactly what had happened.
"How interesting."
In the life space beneath the Lake of Life, Gu Yuena, the Silver Dragon King and the second Soul Beast Sovereign, sensed a renewed hope for the future of soul beasts. A flash of curiosity and excitement flickered in her noble, cold eyes.
She hadn't expected that a newly ascended Thunder God King would actually manage to convince the other five God Kings to cancel a rule that had existed for hundreds of thousands of years.
After all, that rule had been in place ever since the fall of the Dragon God.
Even though no soul beast had ever possessed the ability to ascend and become a god during this entire time, that didn't mean no one ever would. If a soul beast someday did gain the chance to ascend, only to be blocked by an unchangeable rule, the despair that would result couldn't be understated.
Elsewhere, inside a room in the Spirit Hall, Kong was currently playing Dou Dizhu with Ying and the general, when a voice suddenly echoed in his mind.
The voice belonged to the Evil God King, speaking on behalf of the God Realm Committee, informing him that they had officially agreed to lift the regulation barring soul beasts from becoming gods.
To this, Kong simply smiled faintly and said nothing more. After all, canceling that rule posed no threat to the God Realm whatsoever.
Throughout all these years, no soul beast had ever managed to pass through the ten heavenly tribulations and obtain a chance to ascend. The ones with the greatest hope—the Deep Sea Demon Whale King and Tianmeng Ice Silkworm—had only come close due to the interference of Hang San and the Asura God.
One had cheated through external help, and the other had never even faced the trial of tribulation. As a result, neither Tianmeng Ice Silkworm nor the Deep Sea Demon Whale King ever became immortal deities through their own strength.
Now that the regulation was gone and the divine positions were available, the next step was to focus on cultivating soul power—raising it to a suitable level and absorbing those fierce beast soul rings.
Once the fierce beast soul rings were absorbed, and with the intentional leniency of those divine examiners, even a pig could easily pass the trials and inherit a divine position.
