Chapter 95 - plotting

Chapter 95 - Ivan POV

I sneak up on Mason, walking toward his trailer like a mischievous cat. Up to no good, because I'm definitely up to no good. Call it playing cupid. Call it meddling. Either way, it's fun.

"If it isn't the big-shot actor," I say as he flinches, spinning around before sighing when he sees me.

"Ivan."

He opens the trailer door, and I walk in without waiting for an invitation.

"What are you doing here?" he asks, closing the door behind him.

"Just saying hello. As a big fan."

He narrows his eyes. "Big fan, huh? What's the last movie I did?"

"Oh, you know. That one."

"Which one?"

"The one with the thing, where you were acting with that other person at that place."

He folds his arms. "Right. What are you doing here really?"

"I saw your acting a couple of minutes ago," I say casually, then smile.

"If it was acting."

"It was," he replies, a bit too quickly.

"Was it?" I say, plopping onto the couch like I own it.

"Because the way you looked at Harry? Mason, come on. That wasn't just acting. That was yearning."

Mason runs a hand through his hair.

He exhales slowly. "Why aren't you with your scary Alpha right now?"

"Oh, he's around. Lurking somewhere."

He laughs softly, despite himself. "He let you come here alone?"

"He trusts me. And we both know I'm not your type," I say, twirling a strand of my hair.

"And what's my type?"

"You like the small ones. Big doe eyes. Blonde curls.Tiny slender stature. Glass bones and paper skin—"

"Alright, alright." He waves me off.

"What are you getting at?"

"Why aren't you making a move?"

He stares at me, jaw clenched. "Harry has a boyfriend."

"And you're going to let that stop you? You're Mason Greene. You're the kind alpha, the safe one, the one who'd treat him right. Are you really just going to stand there while Dorian destroys him?"

"Harry said he wants to be friends. I'm respecting his wishes."

This is why he didn't get together with Harry in the original narrative, what is this spineless behavior?

"You can respect his wishes and still woo him. Gently. With flowers. And lingering stares. And good morning texts. You're not trying to take him—you're showing him what love could feel like."

Mason exhales heavily.

I rise and walk toward him, eyes serious now. "That's your omega. Don't let someone else erase that light in his eyes. If you don't fight for him now, you'll regret it."

"So what's the plan, Mason? Gonna stand on the sidelines while Dorian sucks the soul out of him again? Because you know Harry shines around you. That wasn't just a scene—it was a window."

He clenches his jaw.

I lower my voice and take a step closer. "Mason. That's your omega. Whether or not he sees it yet, you do. Don't be the reason he stays with someone who breaks him."

He doesn't respond, but the tension in his shoulders loosens.

"Just think about it," I say, heading for the door.

He doesn't reply, but I can see the thought spinning behind his gaze.

Good.

I hide my grin to myself as I walk away.

Mission: Success.
