Chapter 465 - Chapter 465 - Sharing Is Caring

I might have an idea why you're little magic has brought you here.

"You do?" Sonder said excitedly.

"It's just a theory, but it seems like you want your Vell, and it seems that he and I share a lot of traits, maybe not as people but something beyond that we, or at least I, don't understand. Maybe we share so much, identity or soul, that your magic brought you here to me, seeing as I match that aura so strongly."

"Maybe. I don't know how the magic I used works. I just know it works."

"Where did you get it from anyway? Somebody must have taught you. Or did you read it in a book? If you self-taught, then it would make sense if you made a mistake."

That stumped Sonder for a moment. How was she to explain Dico magic?

"Well, the magic I used is called Dico-"

"Dico? Why?" Aest asked.

She thought about it to try and remember. She knew why it was called that because once she wondered the same thing, and Vell gave her the answer.

"Because…" she began, and suddenly she had it. "Because the inventor of it was called Sen Dicaeolo. I guess he must have named it after himself, or others named it after him."

"Dicaeolo. Strange name. Wouldn't 'Dica' make more sense. Well, no. I'm hearing it now."

"Hearing what?"

"It doesn't matter. So, what about this Dico magic?"

"Vell said that it wasn't really magic, but I don't know what else it is. The language of the gods maybe. It's not learned, in the traditional sense."

"How do you learn it then?"

"Dico magic isn't as much learned as it is given."

There was some disbelief in his face, and something frustrated. "Given? By who? What does that even mean when it comes to magic? Could you give me some of that magic so that I'd be able to use it?"

"I don't think so, but not too long ago, something like that did happen to me," Sonder said, recounting her memory of the lord of the dark lands. "It's more like when there is a lot of pressure or power in you and suddenly, you just know the meaning and power of a Dico word."

"They're just words? What about… whatever you call it, mana or the power within?"

"That's not a part of it, as far as I know. When I use magic, I feel my own power, or the power of my surroundings, but not with Dico. I don't know where its power comes from."

"Magic really is strange…" he said, trailing off but then he came back around, "Sonder, do you think if Vell and I could be so similar that I could sue Dico magic to throw around some spells?"

"I don't know what the power of the Dico spells think, but I think you are two very different people."

"Why not try anyway? It could be fun if it works, and if not, then I know that I at least tried. When am I ever going to have another chance to practice magic with an actual mage? I don't get many visitors, and how high's the chance that they'll be a mage, much less a friendly one?"

Sonder thought about it for a moment. "Alright. I don't see the harm in it."
