Asmodeus remained still after defeating the two abyssals and sending them packing, his hand caressing the purple-shaded gemstone made of their melted limbs.
Behind him, Serena struggled to rush to his side, her hand pressed against the sharp, rocky wall as she staggered with each feeble step. "Darling?" She called out to him, her expression changing as he remained silent.

A series of black lines grew under his skin, an agonising pain destroying him from the inside as his muscles cramped, visibly contorting out of shape as the exoskeleton covering them cracked like brittle porcelain.
Upon hearing Serena's voice, his shoudlers quivered and he tried to turn... only for his right leg to suddenly go limp.
'I didn't want to show this to her!'
He grit his teeth, desperately trying to catch himself, but then his left leg also became soft and weak, and all power drained from his body. The black veins increased explosively, writhing beneath his skin.
