The bloody body of the red ogre fell to the ground. This time there was no movement.
" Well, that solves it. Are you alright ?" Gojo asked turning towards Jervil.
Jervil was speechless. Earlier at the guild when he was gathering adventurers, he came to know that this adventurer was D ranked. He never thought that the adventurer would be so powerful. He stood transfixed at whatever he had observed, only to be woken up by Gojo's shouting.
" Didn't expect that, you are definitely strong and I acknowledge that. " said Jervil.
" See Grisella, you heard that, everyone seems to agree I'm strong. " said Gojo in his carefree tone.
" Then let's end the hunt for now. It seems dusk is falling. We will continue tomorrow. Let's regroup outside the forest and return. " said Jervil ignoring Gojo's yapping. Then he picked up the body of the fallen adventurer. It was really getting dark so the adventurers group returned back to the town.
The next day the adventurers group set out to hunt again. This time there were fewer adventurers. The death of the adventurer the previous had taken a toll on the morale of the adventurers.
" Today I will be relying on you. " said Jervil turning towards Gojo " I hope no one dies today. "
They reached ogres corpse that had been killed the previous day. The decomposition process had begun. They kept on advancing into the forest vigilant. They had gone a little distance when Gojo detected some movement in a faraway bush. He kept his eyes fixed towards the bushes, that's when he saw movement behind the bushes.
He managed to spot two red coloured horns sticking out from behind the bushes. Then before he could react a the ogre stood up and hurled a sharpened branch towards them. Gojo stepped forward and using lapse blue crushed the branch.
He then ran in the direction of the ogre. The ogre had another branch in it's hand which it hurled towards Gojo. He again lapse blue to break apart the branch. Now the ogre emerged from behind the bushes and rushed towards Gojo to attack him. This one was on the shorter since it didn't seem to be taller that fifteen feet.
Gojo flicked his fingers to send a gust of energy by using reverse red technique. It went right through the right side of the ogre blowing a huge chunk of it's body apart. The ogre let a huge painful screech before falling to the ground and stop moving.
After dealing with the ogre Gojo turned back and returned to see the hunting party waiting for him.
" So, you barged out of the group to attack an ogre. You are reckless, at least you should have informed me. " said Jervil after hearing about Gojo's encounter.
" Fear not, it was just one ogre and I dealt with it. " said Gojo.
" From no one at least inform me, since situations like this only puts the others in danger. " said Jervil.
After a brief conversation, Jervil again started to lead the group of adventurers to check for other ogres. Somehow, the group of adventurers seemed to have gained some morale.
They spotted a trail of footprints of an ogre that led them to a clearing. There in the clearing they saw three ogres sitting down and having a conversation in ogre language. Two of them had black hair and a third one had white hair and seemed slightly bigger from the other ogres.
" The bigger one seems to be the leader of the ogres. It will also be the toughest to take down. Alright, let's carry out a surprise attack. We will be able to take all three of them down. " said Jervil " So let's approach them very carefully not making any sounds. "
However, as they were approached the ogres one of the adventurers accidentally stepped on a fallen branch breaking it. The sound of the breaking of the branch had alerted the ogres of their presence. The three ogres ran in three different directions. Most of the adventurers ran after the ogre that ran in the left direction.
" Hey wait everyone, you all very reckless. " shouted Jervil as he ran after the lot.
" So, do we follow him or we chase after the other ogres ?" Grisella asked.
" Hmm, let's go after the ogre that ran to the right direction. After dealing with it we will deal with the leader ogre. " said Gojo to which Grisella nodded.
They ran towards the right direction. Although, they spotted several of the footprints of the ogre they weren't regular. The fallen leaves and the cautious nature of the ogre may have been responsible for this.
After following the footprints for sometime, they came to a stop. The footprints had ended abruptly meaning the ogre was hiding nearby. As Gojo and Grisella looked around they found that they were surrounded by large bushes and a thick cover of trees. They couldn't see much around them thanks to the thick tree cover.
Suddenly, they heard some rustling among the bushes behind them. From those bushes emerged with arms stretching apart the red ogre as it tried to grab them. They managed to run a little forward and avoid the pouncing ogre. Then the ogre stood and prepared to attack them again but it didn't get the chance.
Gojo's reverse red technique managed to tear up a large portion of it's left side as it fell to the ground. Gojo used reverse red again to crush the head of the ogre ending it's life.
Then, his six eyes detected some energy from the thick cover of trees in front of him where Grisella was standing.
" Watch out Grisella, there seems to be .... " Gojo didn't finish his sentence as a tree in front of him started falling. He quickly grabbed Grisella and moved her away. Turning back he saw towards the direction of the fallen tree he momentarily saw pair shining yellow eyes. Then from the ogre that jumped out from the tree cover and landed in between them.
It turned out to be the leader of the red ogres. It held a large log with both of it's hands.
" Grisella run, I'll take care of this one. " said Gojo as he prepared to attack the leader. However, the leader chased after Grisella. Hence, Gojo flicked his fingers for the reverse red technique and tore apart it's right leg. The ogre almost fell, but using all it's strength it again sat up. It then threw the huge log towards Gojo.
Gojo dodged it effortlessly and the log crashed into another tree breaking it. This time, Gojo used reverse red to separate it's right arm. This blow made the leader collapse on the ground. Gojo took aim at it's head to ended it.
" Let me go check on the others. " said Gojo turning towards Grisella. He then, turned back and ran towards the left direction where the red ogre had fled. After for a while, he came across the adventurers group. They were still fighting the ogre. Two of the adventurers lay on the ground wounded with the healer healing them. Jervil was fighting the ogre and seemed very exhausted. On the other hand, the ogre had some serious wounds throughout it's body but showed little signs of exhaustion.
Gojo wasted no time, he took aim for it's head and decapitated it.
" So, huh, are you done with the ogre you chased after ?" asked a surprised Jervil.
" We took care of the other ogre as well as their leader. " replied Gojo.
" Wait, what you managed to eliminate the ogre leader ? Then let me check the corpses before we return to the town. Since I have to report everything to the guild. " said Jervil.
After checking the corpses they returned to the town. After returning Jervil went to the adventurers guild and reported. To this the receptionist stated that she would report everything to the guildmaster and prepare for their rewards the next day.
The next day, Gojo and Grisella went to the guild to receive their. They received four small silver coins and a letter addressed to them.
" The guildmaster was amazed by your actions as reported by Jervil. He wrote a letter expressing his gratitude to you. Also he has decided to send a letter to the guild of Geradin to recommend you for the next rank promotion examination. And, lastly thanks for helping us deal with the ogres. " said the receptionist.
Gojo and Grisella rushed back as they were to depart soon that day.
" Well, I hope nothing else goes wrong. " said James Flavel as the entourage exited the town.
