Sidra was frightened out of her mind. Her targets sudden transformation, the palpable rage, the blood lust and killing intent that began forming around him like a red cloud, it was all too insane! She could taste blood in the air, and the pressure from his killing intent alone meant he must have killed millions upon millions of beings.
However, she shook her head as she shouldn't be scared. She just released her true cultivation which would surely cause some sort of a tribulation for her afterward, but right now she was confident in killing this monster before he acted.
She clenched the daggers within her hands, but then the monster roared out what sounded like a cry of pain, anger, and hatred.
"I'LL FUCKING KILL YOU ALL!"
Before she could even blink, he had vanished from her sight. The next thing she felt were two massive scaly hands gripping the back of her neck and pulling in opposite directions. She tried to kick and stab behind her, but it felt like hitting an immovable wall.
"AHHHGGG!" Sidra screamed as her head and spine were torn straight from her body. The last thing she saw before her consciousness faded was the monster stabbing its free hand into her body and ripping her mana core out before throwing it into its toothy maw and chomping down.
Kayn swiped both the head, spine, and body into his Void Loop before looking in the direction where he felt Lara was. Without any hesitation he swiped at the air, creating a tear straight to the void. Kayn stepped into the void, the tear vanishing just a moment later.
…
Meanwhile, only minutes after Lara had entered the 2nd stage without her nor Charlotte's desire, Charlotte was trying to activate every formation she had set up previously to suppress Lara's mana and hide her nature.
Lara was a good girl and only practiced magic within a specific room as Charlotte instructed and only for the time Charlotte allowed her. Unfortunately, Charlotte's calculations were off and Lara hit the 2nd stage before she was able to finish finding a way to suppress her nature as an Obsidian Void Dragon.
Charlotte happened to be in the room examining Lara's mana and aura when the young teenager said she was feeling a bit funny. Soon after her core progressed into the 2nd stage, her eyes began shifting between normal and reptilian, causing Charlotte to panic. Unfortunately, she wasn't quick enough, nor strong enough to prevent what happened next.
The house that the two had been staying in since they arrived in this continent was suddenly blown apart, sending Lara and Charlotte flying back despite her defensive formations and the barrier she put up last minute around Lara.
Lara was sent straight into the neighboring home's stone wall where she fell unconscious while Charlotte regained her balance fairly quickly, staring into the sky at the attacker. How had he shown up so fast?
He was a handsome man who wore an arrogant smile on his face. On each of his fingers was a small metallic blade. The fire and wind spells swirling around him gave off his elemental aptitudes.
"So, this is where one of the rats was hiding and with such a beauty to boot! …Is what I would have said if you weren't a filthy beast too, phoenix. Hand over the girl without a fight and I might let you live after I chop off your wings and eat them in front of you."
Charlotte had already moved over to Lara's side to check on her condition and also cast a few healing spells on her to ensure she didn't have any internal injuries. She was panicking on what to do. This man was far stronger than her despite her being at the peak of this world herself, so she needed to decide to either fight or try and run. Though the answer was obvious, it couldn't be accomplished.
By this time, the other residents of the village had been alerted to the commotion. The only home actually damaged was Charlotte's and most of the people there stayed inside, peaking through their windows to see what was happening. This included Kinzie and Rowen, who had decided to stay in the village for the time being.
Kinzie went to grab her bow and arrows, but Rowen held her back. She looked at him with desperation, but without saying anything he just shook his head. They both knew that there was nothing they could do to help at this point, they would only get in the way and die too.
They watched as Charlotte suddenly transformed into a massive and majestic looking phoenix. Her feathers were bright gold and the light shown off of her like a precious treasure. She picked up the unconscious Lara with one of her clawed feet and took off at full speed in the opposite direction of the man floating in the sky.
Unfortunately, she didn't make it far as the man moved faster than Kinzie's eyes could keep up with and the next moment she saw the already distant golden figure plummet to the ground at high speeds. Tears formed in her eyes, and despite Rowen's objections, she ran to the scene as fast as she could. She wouldn't be able to help, but she at least wanted to be there if an opportunity arose for her to try.
Meanwhile, at the site where Charlotte crashed into the ground. She unwrapped her wings from protecting Lara, laying her gently on the ground before turning around and facing the attacker once again. Her wounds healed within seconds as she was in her regular form and her magic wasn't restricted as it once had been during the undead invasion.
Charlotte put several barriers around herself made of golden fire and began attacking the man at the same time. However, all of her attacks were merely sliced away by the man despite how hot or powerful they were. With him being both a fire and wind magic warrior, he was a bad match-up for Charlotte.
"Why do you disgusting beasts always think you can fight us? I'm a being from a world above this lowly piece of trash you call a home! There's no way you can defeat me! However, you being a phoenix means I'll have to kill you at least twice…so let's get the first one out of the way." Turner grinned before launching at Charlotte at full speed.
Rather than fighting where Lara was thrown, Charlotte met the Celestial halfway where the fight began in earnest. Turner's clawed fingers tore away at Charlotte's barriers as fast if not faster than she could bring them up. At the same time, he was defending against any attacks she made effortlessly.
Charlotte gave it her best, but she was a healer and a back line barrier provider, not a one-on-one fighter. Soon enough, Charlotte was lying on the ground, missing both of her wings and bleeding from several deep gashes all over her body.
Her body was twitching and soon became still as she breathed her last gasping breath. Turner stood on her massive body looking down at her, pondering his next move.
"Hmmm I could kill you before you have the chance to revive, but that would be no fun. I shall wait and then torture you a bit more so you know your place as a filthy beast before you die for good."
Suddenly, his instincts screamed at him to launch forward and he didn't hesitate to do so, nearly avoiding being grabbed by a purple and black scaled arm that appeared from behind him out of nowhere.
Turner stared at this new player in the game and then blinked several times. Wasn't this the other aura they felt? The one that Sidra was going after?
"Fuck what is that bitch doing? Letting you get here so easily. Oh well, I'll just kill you before she can get here, taking all the glory for myself," he spoke with arrogance as he prepared to attack the intruder to his fight.
Kayn in the meantime looked at the bloodied state of Charlotte and saw his sister bleeding and unconscious off to the side. Tears of black blood streamed from his eyes as he turned his attention back to the cause of Charlotte's suffering and death.
Kayn then withdrew something from his Void Loop and charged at the Celestial faster than he could react. He used what was in his hand like a mace and hit the man square in the chest with it, causing him to fly off into the distance like a rag doll.
Rather than chase after him, Kayn waited for the man to come flying back and he soon did only to halt his movements as he looked at what this new player used to attack him.
His eyes opened wide as within this humanoid looking dragon's clawed grasp was a spine. Hanging off of that spine, and what he was hit with, was the now crushed head of his former counterpart who went to hunt the other Obsidian Void Dragon, presumably this beast.
She was the stronger of the two of them even with the restrictions placed on them in this world, so just how did she end up as just a head dangling from her spine?!?
"You bastard! Your kind will never learn their place! Now you-" however, before he could finish shouting, Kayn had thrown the skull at him at a speed so fast he was barely able to dodge out of the way.
With his attention so focused on the impromptu thrown weapon, he missed the fact that Kayn had followed right after it. By the time he dodged the skull and was about to make his own move, the dragon was already in front of him.
Kayn reached out and gripped both of the man's upper arms and tore them straight off his body. The man's fingers were in a spike position to attack Kayn at the time they were ripped off so Kayn used the man's own arms to stab them back into his body.
Kayn used his own mana to control the remnant blood and the bones of the man's arms to remain straight. After lifting the man up into the air with the arms he impaled through him, he removed a single arm before stabbing the man with his own hand, over and over again.
Turner coughed up mouthfuls of blood on Kayn's face, body, and the ground, but he still hadn't died yet despite all of his wounds. Kayn carefully avoided stabbing through anything vital. Just when Turner thought that he was about to take his last breath, Kayn removed both of the arms stabbed into his body and fully healed him within seconds.
Then, much to Turner's dismay, round two began.
…
For almost an hour, in rage Kayn repeated the process of healing and torturing the Celestial. Every time Turner could speak again he would start begging to be killed, but Kayn never answered his prayers. He was going to show no mercy to this man.
Eventually, another couple of hours passed as Kayn tortured the man, but now whenever Kayn healed him there was no semblance that he was actually there anymore. His eyes were white and empty, and his head would droop to the side, yet Kayn didn't stop, he couldn't, he wasn't in control anymore.
That was until a voice that he recognized spoke up behind him, "Kayn! That's enough! Just kill him, there's no point in continuing on with this."
Kayn's movement's halted and he looked behind him to confirm who had spoken, it was Charlotte. She was standing there in her human form, looking as pristine as ever aside from some dirt on her robes.
She smiled at him, "Did you forget that I'm a phoenix? I can revive myself after death every now and then, assuming the parts vital to my nirvanic nature haven't been destroyed. Now, end his misery and get ahold of yourself, your sister will wake up soon."
Kayn's transformation was already starting to come undone as Wrath faded, but before it was completely gone, he shoved his arm into the Celestial's torso and removed his mana core, storing it away in his Void Loop for later. He then stabbed through the man's heart and head, ending his life and suffering for good.
Once the man's body was in the Void Loop as well, Kayn turned around as his transformation was fully undone. He was crying regular tears this time, but smiling as well as he looked at Charlotte alive and well.
Kayn was covered in blood. Not just his opponents, but his own as well. His skin was bloated and bruised all over. He was bleeding all over his body, as if every inch of skin was leaking. One of his eyes was completely bloodshot, and there was no skin over the mangled muscles of his arms. Even his lower legs were skinless and his toes were still half clawed and mangled.
Charlotte gasped at his state and was a bit horrified that he was still able to move, but despite that he walked past her and straight to Lara, quickly casting his Void Eye spell on her to ensure that she was healthy and not in any trouble.
As soon as he confirmed her health, he stood back up and faced Charlotte. "Thank you. Thank you for taking care of my sister this whole time. Thank you for protecting her with your life. If there's anything I can do to repay you, just let me-"
His voice drifted off as his eyes shut and he fell face first into the ground, his blood sinking into the dirt and grass beneath his body.
Charlotte sighed, but she acted quickly to try and stabilize his wounds before lifting both siblings onto her shoulders and flying off into the distance in order to find a place where they could recuperate in solitude.
…
Meanwhile on a cliff-face a few miles from the scene of the battle, Kinzie held her hands over her mouth as she cried. She was happy that Kayn was actually alive when she thought him long dead, and that he was able to save Lara and Charlotte in time.
However, the overwhelming feeling she felt towards Kayn at this moment, was fear. That man was not the one she had grown to love. The one she saw was cold-blooded and merciless, with little semblance to who she knew.
