Sitting in my room, I leaned back against the wall, my arms crossed as I waited. Not long after, a soft knock came at the door.
"Aoi?"
"...I'm coming in."
The door opened slowly, and Aoi stepped inside, closing it gently behind her. She stood there for a moment, her hands clasped in front of her, her eyes fixed on the floor.
I watched her carefully. "So? What's this surprise of yours?"
She took a deep breath, then stepped closer. "It's... not something I can just hand you."
I quirked an eyebrow. "Oh? Now I'm really curious."
Aoi's face flushed, her fingers tightening around the fabric of her uniform.
"It's something important. Something I've saved for someone special."
My smirk widened slightly. "And who might that be?"
She looked up, her dark blue eyes locking onto mine with an intensity I hadn't seen before.
"It's you, Alex," she whispered.
I blinked.
That was… unexpected.
Aoi reached out, her trembling fingers brushing against my hand before intertwining with mine. I could feel how fast her heart was beating just from the way her grip tightened.
"I'm giving myself to you," she continued, voice barely above a whisper. "All of me. My heart, my body, my soul... everything I am is yours, if you'll have me."
For the first time in a long while, I was caught off guard.
I had expected Aoi to be the strict, no-nonsense type—to scold me for teasing, to huff in irritation, and stomp away. But this?
This straightforwardness.
This was raw. This was desperate.
Even Shinobu and Mitsuri hadn't asked me for something like this.
I studied her face. There was no hesitation in her eyes, only unwavering determination. And something else—something obsessive.
"Aoi," I started, but she cut me off.
"There's more," she said quickly, as if afraid I'd turn her down. "If I give myself to you fully and completely, I need you to promise me something in return."
I narrowed my eyes slightly. "What kind of promise?"
"You have to promise that you'll come back to this and you won't forget this." Her grip on my hands tightened even more, her nails pressing into my skin.
Even among the women who had gotten close to me, none had ever demanded something like that. As they know I will come back.
But why is she acting like this?
Suddenly I heard Death's voice: "Maybe because Lupus teased her and told her that you will never return to this world after you leave."

I let out a slow breath, taking in the weight of her words.
"Aoi…" I said again, softer this time.
She didn't let go. Instead, she stepped even closer, her forehead nearly touching mine, her warm breath fanning against my lips.
"You're not saying anything."
She was waiting.
The air between us felt charged, filled with tension so thick I could almost feel it pressing against my skin.
She was serious.
Her entire body was trembling, but not out of fear. This was something she had decided. Something she wanted.
I had to be careful with my next words.
Because if I took her now, there would be no turning back.
I wasn't the kind of man who took responsibility lightly. And Aoi—she wasn't just looking for a temporary connection. She wanted something permanent. Something unbreakable.
If I agreed, if I took what she was offering, she would never let go.
She would become mine in every way possible.
And if I left without fulfilling my promise, I had no doubt she would chase me down—even across worlds.
I could practically feel her desperation.
I closed my eyes for a brief moment, exhaling softly.
Then I finally spoke.
"…Aoi."
She looked up at me, waiting, hanging onto my every word.
I smirked. "You really are bold when you want to be."
Her face turned an even deeper shade of red, but she didn't look away.
I lifted a hand, gently tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
"Alright," I murmured. "I'll make that promise."
Aoi sucked in a shaky breath, her eyesglistening.
"I'll come back," I continued.
She let out a quiet, relieved laugh.
"…Good."
I pulled her into a gentle embrace, feeling her melt against me.
