I walked through the quiet halls of the Butterfly Estate, my footsteps light against the wooden floor. The scent of fresh flowers and herbal medicine lingered in the air, a stark contrast to the battlefield I had just left behind. Despite everything, I couldn't afford to rest just yet. There were still things I needed to take care of before I left this world.
And one of them was Mitsuri.
I knew exactly where she would be.
As I stepped outside, the warm morning sun greeted me. The estate's gardens were as beautiful as ever, the soft rustling of leaves carried by the gentle breeze. I followed the familiar path toward the training grounds, and just as I expected, I found her there.
Mitsuri was practicing her sword swings, her pink and green hair tied up in a loose ponytail. Her movements were fluid, graceful, yet filled with strength. She had a bright smile on her face, completely immersed in her training.
I leaned against a nearby tree, watching her for a moment. It was easy to admire her. The way she moved, the energy she radiated—it was infectious.
She must have sensed me because she suddenly stopped mid-swing and turned around. Her eyes lit up the moment she saw me.
"Alex!" She ran toward me without hesitation, practically throwing herself into my arms.
I caught her easily, laughing a little as she buried her face against my chest.
"You really don't hold back, do you?" I said, wrapping my arms around her.
She giggled. "Of course not! I missed you!"
I smirked. "It's only been four days since I left with Uzui."
She pulled back slightly, pouting. "That doesn't mean I can't miss you!"
I chuckled, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "Fair enough."
Her expression softened as she looked up at me. "You have that serious look again. Something's on your mind, isn't it?"
I sighed, knowing I couldn't hide it from her. "Yeah, I need to tell you something important."
Her smile faltered slightly. "What is it?"
I took a deep breath. "I'll be traveling to the next world soon."
She blinked, processing my words.
"You mean… you're leaving?"
I nodded. "My time here is almost done. I've taken care of most things I needed to."
Mitsuri's grip on my sleeve tightened. "But you'll come back, right?"
I smiled, placing a hand on her cheek. "Of course. I made a permanent portal, so I can visit whenever I want."
She relaxed a little, but there was still a hint of sadness in her eyes. "I don't like the idea of you being so far away, but... I knew this was coming."
I pressed a kiss to her forehead. "That's why I'm telling you now. I don't want to just disappear without saying anything."
She sighed, leaning into me again. "You're too sweet, you know that?"
"Only for you," I teased.
That earned me another giggle, though it was softer this time.
After a moment of silence, she looked up at me again. "So... when are you going?"
"After I meet with Ubuyashiki," I said. "I need to inform him about a few things before I leave."
Mitsuri nodded. "That makes sense. The Master should know everything you've done here."
"Yeah," I said. "Also, Yuki will be staying behind."
Her eyes widened slightly. "Really?"
I nodded. "She told me she wants to continue living in her own world. She's one of my vampire brides now, but she still wants to be here. I respect that."
Mitsuri smiled softly. "That's kind of sweet, actually. She still wants to be with you, but she also wants to stay where she feels at home."
"Yeah," I said. "And since I can come back anytime, it's not like we'll be apart forever."
She hummed in agreement before suddenly stepping back and putting her hands on her hips.
"In that case, we should spend as much time together as possible before you leave!"
I raised an eyebrow. "Oh? What do you have in mind?"
She grinned mischievously. "Well, I was planning on training all day, but maybe you could help me with that?"
I chuckled. "You want me to spar with you?"
"Of course!" she said enthusiastically. "You're super strong, and I'd love to test myself against you!"
I smirked. "Alright, but don't blame me if you get tired too quickly."
She huffed playfully. "I have incredible stamina, you know!"
I laughed. "Yeah, I know."
Without wasting any more time, we moved to the center of the training grounds. Mitsuri drew her sword, her smile filled with excitement.
"Don't hold back too much, okay?" she said.
I smirked. "No promises."
