Pitter-patter.
The waterfall cascaded down, lotus flowers in full bloom, and clusters of green-eyed snail flowers nestled among the green lotus leaves. Old Toad lay in the center of the pond, propped up on a round stone, with a round belly and limbs sprawled out.
The water rippled, with two little otters squatting on either side, their four paws moving in circles, rhythmically tapping the toad's feet, creating a crisp and dynamic sound.
How refreshing!
"Frog Duke!" Liang Qu respectfully bowed in salute, "It's been too long since we parted, and I've longed to see you. Every time I remember your clarity and distinction, I dream of it! Today, seeing you still with such divine grace, like a jade tree in a beautiful forest."
"Ribbit!" Old Toad inhaled deeply and croaked, "Liang, you are the pillar! The backbone! A confidant of the frogs!"
That familiar feeling, that familiar taste, still so eloquent, so heartfelt, a clear stream within the Frog Tribe.
