Chapter 303 - Chapter 302 - Shadow Army.

[Chapter Size: 2500 Words.]

Third Person POV

Great Britain.

...

...

Severus had already warned the Ministry about the portal over Cokeworth, which passed the information along, and immediately the world was thrown into turmoil.

A task force of wizards and Muggle military began to circulate through the city. Severus arrived hours earlier, while the portal was still open, with the city surrounded by all kinds of things prepared for battle. He had fled from the people who wanted to speak with him and from the reporters. He did not go to anyone among them; instead, he went to the center of the portal, more specifically to his old house.

That portal was closed, and he himself had tried to enter yesterday but was stopped, so he would have to wait for it to open to face whatever would come from it. In the meantime, he thought of seeing one person beforehand.

At that moment, Severus wanted to check the place where he was born, before it was completely destroyed, crushed by whatever creature might come from the sky.

The house was abandoned, the windows were broken, and someone had thrown stones. It had also been looted, but there was nothing there... His father had nothing besides a bottle to drink from.

With all the chaos, it was obvious that there would be people who would do this, but Severus did not care as he headed to his old bedroom upstairs, passing by the staircase where he had thrown his father some time ago.

When he reached his room, there was no mattress left on the bed. Tobias had thrown everything away, which did not surprise him. Severus sat on the bare wood of the bed, in silence.

"Eileen Snape...", he murmured.

A light began to emerge, once again activating the power that existed within him: the Resurrection Stone, whose power he had absorbed. As the energy manifested, the woman formed, none other than Eileen Snape. She blinked a few times until she finally looked at Severus.

"Severus? You summoned me again...?" she said, stunned and surprised.

"Hello, mother." He said with some emotion, with the side of the original Severus wishing to see her at that moment.

The woman looked around and realized she was in his old room. She could not help but frown when she noticed that.

"You don't like this place. I should have imagined that. I'm sorry for bringing you here. If you want, I can take you somewhere else," he said, but she stared at him.

"Severus, what is happening? Why are you here? Where is Tobias?" she asked carefully.

"He is far away. Very far away. Still alive, even though he didn't deserve to be," he murmured, while she continued to frown.

"Severus, did you send Tobias away?" she asked, suspicious.

He shook his head and began to explain what was happening, that perhaps Tobias had left with a group of refugees who had to abandon their homes, just like all the people of the city. The streets were occupied only by military forces and combat wizards.

As he spoke, Eileen immediately went to the window and looked at the enormous portal over the city.

"By Merlin..."

"Merlin cannot help, even if he wanted to, mother," Severus could not help but mock. "That is beyond the capacity of any wizard in this world."

"I don't think you should stay here," she announced, turning back to him. "This is dangerous."

"Mother, I am the most necessary person here at this moment. Did you know your son became the most powerful man in the world? Or at least that's how the newspapers announce it." Severus could not guarantee that title, not with that man disguised as a reporter. Despite never having fought him, he knew he was anything but ordinary, and he would find that out one way or another when all of this was over.

Severus looked at his mother. She was still confused and distressed by his statements, but he began to explain the situation from the first time he had spoken to her, after hunting the horcruxes. He explained how he defeated Voldemort and, after that, how he was taken to trial, where the entire Supreme Court of Wizards decided what to do with him, or whether they should criminalize him. However, he came out innocent, with a great deal of support.

There was a battle in Atlantis, another in Hogwarts. He entered a portal a few days later, and there were also the battles in Japan. His mother looked stunned at each account Severus gave, wondering how her son had become involved in so many things and was known worldwide.

"I just don't know what will happen with this portal. And it's not just it, other threats will come. I mean, I could even die, and I don't know what will happen to me."

Severus was not afraid or anything like that, but the possibility seemed to grow with each battle. He had dealt easily with almost everything so far, but would it be like that forever? The Ice Monarch had five hundred thousand soldiers. Could he face that right now? No, not if there were all kinds of monsters there. His few shadows would not be of much use before being completely crushed. Perhaps he could hold on for a while, resurrecting the ice soldiers as they died, but even so, Severus had a limit of mana, even if immense, and the number of enemies... He would have to be very strategic, and the idea of dying was quite strong this time.

In any case, he explained everything to his mother and stayed talking with her for a while, speaking about his life and about how the world was. She asked how her father's brother was doing, the only member of the Prince family, with the exception of Severus. He explained how he was taking care of the other families in the village he had bought.

At a certain moment, Severus said he would have to go and that he had already talked with her. The time was coming, and he also felt that his fiancées had stubbornly arrived to get involved in the battle.

With that, Severus closed the door of his old house behind him. It probably would no longer exist, but he did not leave that place completely. He stopped on top of the roof, while his eyes turned toward the portal.

"Severus!"

Someone came flying toward him, actually two people: one with a green trail, the other with a red trail, landing near him. Bellatrix and Rosaria landed at his side.

The flight spell they used had been learned from him; it was not like a blue lightning bolt, like the one he used, nor was it anywhere near as fast as he could fly, but it was still quite useful.

Pandora and Clarice could not perform the spell; they had the capacity to do so, but it would take them a few more weeks to master it. Rosaria and Bellatrix were more talented, and now they no longer needed to fly on brooms. And in other aspects, all four fiancées had become quite powerful, being at the very least stronger than the professors of Hogwarts, and Rosaria was surpassing even Dumbledore and her father in terms of power level.

"You are here. You should move away," he said.

The portal would open soon, and his eyes fixed on its center.

"We won't let you fight alone this time," Rosaria said, but Severus shook his head.

"We don't know what's coming from there. You need to move away. If I take risks, I can still escape, but you would be very exposed. Join the other groups of wizards. I will stay here. I'll be fine and retreat if necessary," Severus said. It was not a request.

Bellatrix and Rosaria looked at him for a moment and nodded, neither of them insisting. They flew away from the place, leaving Severus alone there, on top of the roof, with his eyes fixed on the portal.

Wizards prepared spells, taking fortified positions, while Muggles prepared their weapons. Machine guns, tanks, helicopters, and even airplanes hovered over the region.

NATO itself, with several countries, had landed its military forces in England, and there were rumors that the Cold War missiles, which had previously been aimed at the United States and Russia, were now pointed at Great Britain.

The entire world watched Great Britain and would use it as a sacrifice, if necessary. Severus did not like that, but he also could do nothing.

And then it happened.

The portal simply collapsed at that moment, generating lightning around it. It became more illuminated.

"It's starting," everyone thought at the same time, as they prepared their weapons.

Cracks began to appear inside the portal. It was breaking and expanding. It was far larger than the one that had appeared in Tokyo, at least ten times bigger, covering the entire city.

Then, creatures began to emerge from it, and Severus could not help but widen his eyes as he saw each of those dark and shadowy figures coming out. He murmured, feeling a direct connection to them.

Winged creatures like angels began to come out, other dragon-like monsters, but they were not dragons like those of that world. They were gigantic, capable of devouring the dragons of the magical world themselves in a single bite. They were sinister and powerful, emanating mana and making even Severus frown.

'They have the power to destroy humanity.' Severus immediately thought as he looked at the creatures.

But among all the shadows, one of them stood out.

It had four wings and the form of a warrior. It resembled a ruler, but at the same time, it did not. Its power was immense, so overwhelming that it would make even Beru seem like a tiny ant, literally. The mana released from its body was far too powerful.

The shadows began to descend toward the city. Severus noticed everyone starting to prepare their weapons and spells.

"Wait!" his resounding voice echoed throughout the entire city, making everyone look stunned toward the center of Cokeworth. "Do not fire," Severus said. "They are not enemies."

His voice still echoed as everyone looked at one another. Even Dumbledore, with the group of Aurors and the Ministry, along with other military teams, hesitated. The shadows began to touch the ground, like a dark and ominous rain. Generals shouted at one another, arguing over whether they should obey or not.

Most said no, but in the end, no one fired.

The shadows were already on the ground at that moment, while the sky remained filled with winged creatures, like black angels.

Everyone realized that they were not looking anywhere else but the center of the city. No matter the angle, all the shadows surrounded and stared at Severus.

Severus looked at the largest of them, which landed on the other side of the roof of his old house. Several helicopters were filming it live. Even wizards approached on brooms, with stunned expressions, as they watched the black shadow approach Severus with calm steps, crushing the roof with every touch.

It showed nothing hostile, as everyone had imagined. It simply stared at him and then bent one of its knees, slamming it directly against the roof and bursting it under its own weight.

It knelt.

And it was not just it. The dragons began to lower their heads as they landed on the rooftops, crushing them under their weight, as if they were paying reverence. Around Severus, the winged creatures placed a hand on their chests and bowed as well, in the middle of the sky.

The scene of one hundred thousand creatures simply bowing before Severus Prince appeared not only before the eyes of everyone there, but also on every television screen around the world. That made the entire planet fall silent, wondering what exactly was happening.

Severus blinked a few times before a system notification appeared before him.

[Congratulations. You have obtained the shadow army of the ancient Monarch, who waited for millennia to finally serve a new sovereign. As they are creatures resurrected from the afterlife, they are spirits that cannot be destroyed unless the central power to which they are bound ceases to function. They remained in a dormant dimension for thousands of years, until someone claimed them.

Congratulations, user. You have just added 100,000 shadows to your army.]

The system then displayed a total number of 101,212 shadows, far surpassing the limit he had imposed before the Black Heart. After that, the limit had been broken.

"My sovereign, we are here to serve you." The voice resounded like thunder throughout the entire city, breaking the silence. Severus looked at the giant winged warrior, about six meters tall, kneeling before him with calm eyes, yet determined to follow the words it had just spoken.

He then turned his attention to all the shadows, which remained in a submissive and respectful stance, as if they were before the very Shadow Monarch.

There were three immense dragons. Dragons that could destroy the entire world...

Severus could not help but wonder whether they did not know that the former bearer of that power was dead, or at least that was what he thought. After all, he was someone who had acquired that power after death.

But there was no doubt: those creatures were loyal to him. Severus felt it.

"Very well." With that, the larger shadow gestured, and all the shadows began to disperse, sinking into the ground as they gathered at his feet. Some climbed up his shoulders, while others began to spread out, filling the streets, passing through the asphalt, through the houses, everything converging toward Severus, centering on him and disappearing beneath his feet.

One by one, they vanished, until none were left.

Everything fell silent after that. The portal no longer existed, and the sky opened up, once again revealing the sun.

No monster was there anymore.

There was no battle...

Everything felt like nothing more than a reception for those monsters to enter this world...?

Severus simply looked at the crowd of wizards that had gathered at that moment, all of them staring at him, unsure whether he was a friend, an ally, or still an enemy.

He merely showed a small, restrained smile.

"Well, it seems it's over. My house wasn't destroyed after all..." Only the roof will need some repairs. That was all he said before disappearing.

Severus reappeared where Rosária and Bellatrix were, who looked at him in shock. Before they could say anything, he simply grabbed them and disappeared once more.

He did not know how to explain what had just happened. It was better to think a little before trying to explain all of that to the world.

"I will return for a press conference as soon as I align my thoughts." That was all Severus declared before disappearing.
